Gabriel Jesus a great addition to our front line, hopefully we will be able to add Raphinha and Martinez.

I don't think he's got 20+ goals a season in him. Time will tell, I guess.

27 Jun 2022 08:35:27
When he first signed for city he was scoring freely if I remember correctly, let’s hope being given the senior strikers role will bring out the best in him, I’m exited by this signing. 7 more Gabriel’s and we’ve got a team of angels ? ??.

Great signing with PL experience so should hit the ground running. Can't wait for the new season to start!

27 Jun 2022 11:13:12
Great signing. Presses well, is hungry, only 26 so best years are ahead, humble and a team player. Also has the benefit of playing massive games and guided by Pep. If City were not buying the best in the world right now in Haaland, they would be looking for a Gabriel Jesus. £45M well spent.
If the rumours are true this could be a massive statement from Arsenal this summer, and credit will have to go to Arteta and also Edu.
We sign Saka and Saliba to improved longer contracts and we could be looking at a squad of some of the best young players in football with one of the youngest managers.

Im happy if he is able to put in 20 to 25 goals a season in all competetions. If eddie picks up where he left off last season, could see another 10 to 15 goal contribution by him for the coming season.

27 Jun 2022 12:35:22
He might not be a 20+ goals a season striker, but how many goals city scored, I think he has the ability to contribute in many many goals.
I think arteta wanting to have a front line where they can all score and be able to shift right and left with no problem.

27 Jun 2022 13:13:49
Bejaysus, RSharpie!

What would make you happy?
Only two players scored more than twenty goals in the league last season and I think I'm right in saying only two the season before?

I wrote a few weeks back we'd be lucky to get someone as excellent as Gabriel Jesus and I stand by that.

He may not be in the Haaland league of goal scoring - who else is? - and we can't offer Darwen Nunez - who, however good he looks isn't yet tested in the Premier League - the alleged "holy grail" of Champions League football (I loathe the Champions League and no, not because we aren't in it, I don't love when we are) - but he is/ was an integral player in the current league Champions, has scored nearly 100 goals for Pep in under 250 games, came to Citeh not as a number 9 striker and has been sporadically used in a never ending star-studded and rotated forward line up!

What more do you want?

I am very much an "Arteta OOT" campaigner and have been hugely underwhelmed (and still am) by Edu (I saw him on Instagram "welcoming" Vieira - either he is not a natural on camera or he is not the kind of guy I'd want to show propsects around "The ground is heated so it doesn't freeze"! seemed to be his key message! ) but I do tip my hat to them if we bolster our squad with players like Jesus.

Personally, I'm not terribly excited by the possibility of spaffing upwards of £65m on Raphinha, not that he is a bad player, but we already have a decent batch of players in that position, if only we could manage them properly, but I won't say no if we do get him either. So I guess I am no different to you in expressing a view here, anyways, you are perfectly entitled to your opinion Sharpie and I don't mean to be rude in any way.
But I do think getting Jesus is a great coup by our club and give's me more hope than dear young Eddie, no matter how well-intentioned he is.

Have a great summer everyone.

I`d like Jennifer Anniston to be my booty call! Stalking doesn`t even work! Not going to happen unfortunately but nor is Haaland Vlahovic Nunez Mbappe etc rocking up at the Emirates. Therefore we have to shop at a slightly lower level - and no Dagenham that`s not lowering my expectations I`m a realist. If we try to chase these players like we did Vlahovic we get rebuffed for a number of reasons no CL football etc then Edu gets slaughtered for wasting time and effort and we become a laughing stock . Jesus is a superb signing as does Vieira seem to be. Add Saliba Raphina and Martinez ( not sure how we stand on FFP ) and we have a squad that needs very little adding to over the next few years! Then sell and replace if needed. We have been spoilt over the 2000`s era but we are on the up and Jesus a great buy. Also fair play to Stan - not hearing much Kroenke Out on here recently. Without losing anyone vital ( we`d lost PEA) Laca AMN Torreira Guendozi etc we have added Saliba Jesus and Vieira with possibly Raphina and Martinez all first eleven starters - what a bench / squad we`ll have. If nothing else we should be right in amongst the top three four challenge which we weren`t saying last year, with a really young talented squad . Bring it on! Bissouma who :) VTH.

I was ready to use phrases like "put a caboose on that runaway train, till I read the last bit of your post, CMF.

I'm actually pretty easy going come transfer time. I don't ask who is coming and I don't judge players I've never seen.

For instance, I didn't know anything about Pepe, or young Martinelli, when they first came over so I never had an opinion of them till I'd seen them a handful of times.

I'm hopeful Jesus works out, but my opinion - albeit before I've watched him in our squad, is that he'll struggle to put 20+ goals away per season.

I don't care if we make a marquee signing; I just want us to sign players that will strengthen us. Players like Saka, Martinelli, and even Tierney (when fit) , who actually play their hearts out.

I'm actually surprised Eddie got a new contract. I won't be surprised if he's sold to Newcastle next summer.

27 Jun 2022 16:41:43
Jesus might not get 20+ goals, but it's hard to think of anyone else we could of got who would be better. Got more chance of being a hit than the likes of morata or DCL.

27 Jun 2022 16:55:15
I'm half with you half not Rsharpe on both your points on Jesus and Eddie,

I am excited about Jesus, I think he is the right age, good prem experience and also a point to prove that he would have been able to be the main man to city, but I am not entirely convinced that he is that 20+ goal striker we all seem to mention.

However how many of them are actually around, and we got 5th last season with lacca scoring 4 I believe, and auba scoring 6, so even if Jesus can grab 15 and the rest chip in like they did this season I do think he is an improvement of what we had last season. but not what we have at our best.

I'm glad Eddie got a contract, he has always been 4th choice so it's hard to really judge him, but with him being number 2 he will get a lot of game time and we will find out of he can be a top striker, tammy has taken his opportunity, let's see if Eddie can do also as I believe he can actually be a better striker than tammy. but I do think we give him one season with the game time he deserves and then if not then I agree I think he is sold, we get a fee and everyone can move on without any "what ifs".

I really hope we can get left-back cover as this is the position that worries me most as an arsenal fan, there is such a drop-off in our quality if Tierney is not fit that I believe this is the area of the pitch that has cost us the most last few seasons. (experiments with xhaxa and Tavares)

it is nice to see us having positive back-to-back summer windows tho, regardless of outcomes I do believe that we are seeing a effort to close the gap that was created to the top 4.

27 Jun 2022 18:46:33
I know Jesus is a good player, I've seen him play, will he improve Arsenal or Arsenal improve him? I don't know but I hope so.

27 Jun 2022 20:19:44
Like others have said, I think Jesus having existing premiership experience is already a big boost over some of the other European league based strikers we were linked with. If we get all these targets, we will have an incredibly exiting forward line. My only concern though is still in midfield. We will have all that talent and yet Xhaka will still probably be in central midfield, and we might be heavily reliant, and hoping, that Partey can play a full season.

27 Jun 2022 20:22:57
Agree with above comment Jesus is about the highest level striker we could have realistically got with our current pulling power. Seems like Edu had to a lot of hard grafting to convince him to join but it will be worth it. I have a good feeling that Jesus will do really well for us being the main man. Veria too I am positive about seems like in the Arsenal mould type player. We do need LB cover as we are weak on that side when Tierney is not playing and I guess why Martinez has seen as a option as he can cover two LB/ lCB positions. Taveres I still don't think should give up on yet but he is young and still raw and needs a loan out I think will do him good. I would like another strong physical DM and then we can ship out Xhaka but that might be wishful thinking.

27 Jun 2022 22:00:17
Hi Ryan mate, I personally don't Partey has been Mr dependable since he arrived either, I know he's not as big as name and didn't cost what Xhaka and Partey cost but I think Elneny is the most dependable of the 3 of them.

28 Jun 2022 06:43:23
In my opinion i am happy that we never qualified for the Champions League.
We are miles away from being anywhere good enough for that level of competition.
We would have been like lambs to the slaughter.
Europa League will test our resolve next season for sure.
This will be the proving ground to see whether we have made the best choices in the transfer window.

28 Jun 2022 10:35:20
Crikey ALLRED! After the start we had the inconsistent season with important injuries we finished just 5 points off Chelsea who ran Madrid very close. That`s with Eddie El Neny Holding Tavares Soares etc getting good game time. We wouldn`t win the CL but we are far from being lambs to the slaughter. With the players returning and bought, this season is exciting and that`s without any more additions. Chin up fella the futures bright the future`s RED VTH.
