Couldn’t agree more. Top bloke, above average player, excellent squad member. First let’s secure the squad, and then let’s spend all our cash on the first xI this summer. No maybes, or one for the future, we want 100% top players who will go straight in the first xi, ideally with premiership experience please.

Elneny is a loyal Arsenal player and yes a top bloke.
I’d just like to see that loyalty translate to aggression. By all means be the nice guy, but for 96 mins I want to see that expressed in aggression.
And all too often he leaves me wanting in that regard. He’s just too nice and too passive, never more did I feel this than in the Spurs and Newcastle games where his previous form had my expectations of him raised.
And he just didn’t deliver what Arsenal need in those games. In fact in the Newcastle game he only came to life after we had conceded and started playing and passing higher up the pitch.
I’m sorry but we need protagonists who want leading roles and pressure moments, not supporting acts who will chip in every now and again.
And if I didn’t upset anyone enough with that, I’m reserving the same judgement for Martin Odegaard ( who I believe Xhaka was referring to in that post match interview) .
Next season is about manning up in big moments and being consistent, no going missing or hoping that someone else will stick their neck out to afford you the opportunity to showcase your strengths within your comfort zone.
Without aggression Elneny won’t feature in 10 PL games next year as a starter or sub. I wish he could find it from somewhere because he brings a lot to the table.
