no excuses whatsoever for last nights performance
if arteta can't motivate the players considering what was at stake then for me the buck stops with him.

if we can't get top4 with no europe then how will we next season with thursday and sunday football? because we won't win the europa league.

arteta will not take us any further, i always said the job is way to big for him and that he's punching way above his weight.

and all we will hear now is the usual bs about a process or project youth.

Agree0 Disagree0

to add to that, the people who back arteta was quick enough to call for emery to go, he has done no better than emery in the league so why is arteta getting away with it?

next season we will be worrying more about the likes of west ham and newcastle not the top 4.

Absolutely Mark. I think there is a good manager inside Arteta but we need a upgrade on him now. I was warming to him but his big game mentality is woeful.
I look at our squad, it is young yes
Is it inexperienced definitely no IMO.
Yeah we had injures and suspensions, but all clubs have them problems.
On Thursday irrespective of the sending off, I think we would have still lost due to Arteta naive tactics. Should, have just frustrated them, don't give Kane and Son any space . Burnley almost done it twice, Brighton, Middlesbrough, so why couldn't we. As for last night clueless, lifeless, shoddy etc.
Valid point, about Newcastle and West Ham, and don't forget Utd. As I said earlier some people are happy with Europa but to be 4pts clear with 2 big games coming up and a manager who couldn't come up with 2 efficient game plans.

Whats the difference between Thursday Sunday to, Wednesday Saturday or Saturday Tuesday?

Think near enough every Arsenal fan would of snatched at 5th place at the start of the season. Looking over the season as a while i'm rather proud of the lads, having the youngest average squad in the league and finishing 5th is not a bad end to the season. The only downside to the season is not adding 1 or 2 in January as the injuries have hit hard.

Don’t forget Spurs could always do a Spursy and get beat by Norwich ??.

{Ed014's Note - none for me and this current squad would be wasting their time in the Champions League, had we got better upgrades in the summer that could have been different.

Trouble is we’re still the same Arsenal that Wenger left behind and that doesn’t look like changing any time soon.

PEP Klopp Tuchel Conte are all proven top level mangers at more than one club and Areteta is still struggling to find his feet after 2.5 seasons, me personally if I was running the club I'd accept I had two simply choice, get a top manager who can compete at the level Klopp Pep Tuchel and Conte operate at or accept EL is our realistic level.

I genuinely don't believe it's realistically possible for the rookie Areteta who so obviously still struggles to motivate and set up his players on a consistent basis to compete with the top elite managers, in my opinion it's not going to happen and we either accept that or do something about it.

Anything is just lottery winning wishful thinking in my opinion.

Very well put 62.You summed it up in a couple of paragraphs which I would probably took about 10 and lost the thread of what I aas trying to put across.

For me Ed, we would of needed at least 6 players, upgrades on what with have/ to compete and rotate through the competitions. We definitely would be wasting our time with the champions league i reckon, and on the plus side at least the likes of patino and Flores and co, will get some game time ??‍♂️ Strengthen and go again next season ??.

{Ed014's Note - absolutely 93, and who those 6 would be with only Europa league football on offer is going to have to entail some seriously smart work in the transfer window.

We’re going to need a keeper, back up left and right backs, replacements for Xhaka and likely Elneny with probably two strikers.

We need to sort out Ramsdale, a little less mucking about and 100% concentration, you don’t see Allison or Ederson doing the crap Ramsdale does. Be enthused with a want to win but the rest is just stupid.

In those purchases we need leaders and no one with a weak negative attitude.

We’re a mile behind and it’s not the end of the season and City with the purchase of Haaland just increased the gap!

Hi Bill in my opinion it's the reality of the situation, I'd liken it to asking an under 18 school boy heavy weight hopeful to go toe to toe with Ali, Frazer, Foreman and Holmes in their prime.

Only the lads most loyal fans would buy into the dream and expect him to punch far so above his class.

If we stick with Arteta as I'm virtually sure we will at least for the start of next season, then I totally accept his and our realistic battle will be against Hag and United, Howe and Newcastle, Moyse and West ham, Rodgers and Leicester for 5th place and a guaranteed EL place the following season.

But of course we do have that EL wildcard chance next season that wasn't available to us this season and there are no Ali's Frazer's, Foreman's and Holmes to contend with in the EL, so there are back door CL opportunities available next season that weren't there this season.

I am absolutely sure Arteta wants top 4 at least and ideally to be premier league champions next season every bit as much as we all do, I don't for one minute doubt his ambition and desire, only his ability to fulfil his and our dreams.

Very valid arguments 62.
