Poor guy then had Bruno intentionally stamp on his ankle for a yellow.
Reckon there's a player there but the complete lack of composure on and off the ball doesn't look great

I can see a future for him, but maybe more as a left winger, not a left back. Doesn’t seem to have a defensive min for the left back position.

Yeah he has been better Mal, but hardly outstanding, and from an extremely low base. Even this season, for a main CM, how many goals has he contributed; one, making it 10 in 186 performances since he joined us in 2016. Compare that to say a Ward-Prowse, who I would say plays a similar role for Southampton, except he bothers to track back and tackle. Since 2016, he has played a similar number of games for the mighty Saints, as Xhaka for us, and yet despite playing for a lesser team, has managed to score 36 league goals over the same period, including 9 this season so far. To me this shows there is much better out there. So as the saying goes, one swallow does not make a summer. Yes Xhaka is better, but it doesn’t make up for the total garbage he has delivered in all the previous seasons. However, hopefully this form will finally ensure we flog him in the summer, and if his departing gift is to help us back to the CL, then I might slightly forgive.

I couldn’t agree more Epping. Xhaka has been better this half of the season, but that’s it, and, as you say, his improvement has been from awful to occassionaly adequate.
I’d keep Mo ahead of Granit everyday.

I agree CMF, I just don’t get the negativity towards MO. He gives 100% whenever he plays, whether that’s for 5 minutes or 90.
Completely unselfish, in both the way he plays, wins the ball and then gives it to the players who are supposed to create goals, and more importantly in the way he is happy to be a squad player, doesn’t throw he toys out the pram, and then gives it his all when he does get a game. This is exactly what a squad player should be, and yet for many that’s not good enough?
Do they really expect us to have world class internationals all the way down to squad number 25, happy to sit on the bench for most of the season as we can only play 11?
I agree with you as well Bill. It’s why I mentioned him, and the stats don’t lie. However, I would actually prefer Bissouma, not that he is a better player, but I like the position and style he plays, and just like MO, the way he supports and defends, allowing those who should be trying to create and score to do their thing.
At that, I think he is actually the best in the premiership, like a MO but on steroids.
