There's a lot of bad vibes about White and I agree things haven't been great but for me him and Gabriel have suffered because they haven't had decent full backs beside them recently.

The squad is very thin but the players we have let go we're terrible players and didn't deserve their pay checks.

I believe we wil get 5 or 6 good players in the summer which will make a huge difference.

{Ed014's Note - my concerns about White have been there no matter who the full backs, don’t get me wrong, I don’t think he’s a bad player and he’s still fairly young.

I just want to see more from him, he was muted as a ball playing CB but his passing is poor and when he comes out from the back he often over plays it and loses the ball.

He’s not the quickest either which makes his positioning even more important and that’s also a little off.

But it’s his first season so I’m not writing him off but at the same time it’s his position that will be at risk if Saliba ever bloody comes back! ?‍♂️

To be honest Ed, I have never seen Saliba play.

{Ed014's Note - when I’ve seen him he’s looked quality mate. He’s had good reviews whilst out on loan too.

He’s defo a player who needs to stay and play.

He is quality, and the sooner he gets back the better
Seen him on BT sport when they have covered a Marseille game.

Agree fully on Whyte Ed.

My issues are two fold. He doesn’t seem to be able to smell danger in defense and on the ball he doesn’t back himself or take risks passing out, which was supposed to be the thing that separated him from more agricultural defenders like the ones who show consistency in teams such as his old one Brighton.

All too often I see him turn his head away from a forward pass and roll the ball to Gabriel, who feigns looking up for a forward pass, only to roll it back to Whyte. If this private game of keep ball between the two doesn’t continue for another 30 seconds (watch it next game if you think I’m being harsh) then as Ed says he punts the ball up 30 yards over Sakas head to the opposition.

He’s is both casual and passive and has shown a real lack of upper body strength at times, Moussa Sissokos goal in particular comes to mind.
It’s concerning that this player was bought for a fee that could have signed Bissouma in a position this time last year we did not need strengthening in had we retained Saliba.

I happen to believe Tomiyasu makes Whyte look far better than he is at this moment and his absence has exposed some shortcomings.

{Ed014's Note - he’s a player who just worries me Shambo, much like Xhaka.

I don’t like having that thought process with our players.

Once again I agree with Shambo, and I have said this many times already, but the money we handed to Brighton should have been for Bissouma not White.

I am not saying this based on Whites performances so far, but purely that the upgrade Bissouma would have given us over Xhaka would have justified the outlay, whereas so far, paying 50m to upgrade Holding to White, simply hasn’t.

Still hoping we see sense and go for him in the summer, and that’s not based on his performances against us and Spurs. We talk about leaders, some do it through their voice, but others, like Bissouma, do it through their complete effort and dominance in their position, and it’s something we dearly need in midfield.
