Having watched the game last night I think we are just a couple of players short of a very good and very young team. There is no doubting that we need an upgrade on Laca and Xhaka but that aside, I think we are moving in the right direction.

Interestingly I haven't even noticed Xhaka lately, which is a good thing cause normally I'm watching his every move for a potential red!

Have you seen much of Conor Gallagher whose on loan at Palace, see we are also linked with Aouar again.

Ed014 He does seem to have improved but still not the midfielder we need. Too many negatives and not enough positives.
{Ed014's Note - absolutely sparky, he’s been wasteful with his passing too, which is supposed to be a strong point.
Hopefully Roma come in for him and we get an upgrade.

I can see both sides. He has been fantastic lately for his standards and I like what he brings to the side in terms of mentality, but I think he's currently the weakest player in the starting XI and the most obvious choice for an upgrade. I wouldn't mind him staying if we get into the CL, we need a deep squad to compete on 4 fronts and he's always been better in Europe than in England.

For us to go to the next level Xhaka has to become a squad player rather than a starter.

I have to agree with Wire on Xhaxa. But don't think he would be Happy as a squad player.
It does seem though when we are playing well and having a good run he is in the side and contributing.

Nobody is ever happy as a squasd player but, the top teams have far better than Xhaka as just that.

He has become surplus to requirements. He is now spending his time as a left midfielder, as he is not needed as a deep lying playmaker, we now have two center half’s more than capable of bringing the ball out. Also it’s no coincidence that since he has changed role, we are getting the ball forward much more quickly, with no more sideways passes ‘to help the player passes completed’, stats. Someone like a Bissouma is so much more dynamic full stop, and especially both in protecting the defence, and in supporting the attack. We can step up in a few places, and Xhaka is near the top of that list.

Bissouma would be a good buy mate.
