People are saying about saliba needs a season to gain experience, where was gabs season to gain experience, I think he might have a bit of an attitude problem like guendozi.

Agree0 Disagree0

Saliba is only 19 Gabriel is 23 those 4 years are huge in the development of a young centre back, 19 is extremely young for a central defender in the EPL
Apparently he had a struggle settling here being so young and with the language barrier as well
My stepson is a CB for a league one club and although he is 6ft 3” and strong he has only just turned 18 and although he has shone for their under 23 side he admits he needs experience with the real “ men’s” game before he can be moved to the first team.

337 i'm guessing he's referring to martinelli? As like you said gabriel is 23.

05 Jan 2021 11:46:43
Maybe only he can clarify that but my point is a central defender needs experience to develop more than attacking players, as last form of defence if a young CB makes mistakes it impacts their career a lot more than if a striker misses a goal or a winger gives the ball away.

No I’m on about gabs the cd but he’s never played in the prem either, if you good enough you play all this trans season is garbage, not matter what age you are saka has proved that even martinilli has.

05 Jan 2021 12:27:13
337 I don’t think that’s right about a winger and striker are not the same as a defender, young forward could get smashed by a cb and lose confidence, but I still think if your good enough you play, gabs never played in the prem and it’s a tough league, but that’s my opinion.

Like I said welshy, my stepson is a professional footballer and was at arsenal from the age of 5 to 13, blooding a centre back or goalkeeper at such a young age in the first team is extremely dangerous. It’s not about just confidence in those positions it’s about them possibly making a mistake that costs their team the game and at a professional club the financial implications of losing games are huge as well as team morale
Where Saliba has gone he will gain experience at a level in between the under 23,s and the EPL it’s the next step in his development.

05 Jan 2021 15:22:45
But he’s going to a league that’s not great in my opinion he should have gone to the championship or lower prem team, he’s going to come back with no idea about the league he’s in.

05 Jan 2021 17:49:05
Welsh, just because one was deemed ready doesn't mean every player we bring in will be ready. They're not all the same people; they are individuals with different mindsets and tolerances. Some will take longer than others to mature; just like in the real world. What exactly are you finding difficult to understand about this?

05 Jan 2021 18:59:29
Sharp I’ve just said I think the “he needs a year to develop” is nonsense especially the league he’s going too what about that don’t you understand? Like I said I think he should have gone to a more competitive league like our own or championship!

05 Jan 2021 19:24:16
Lol I think PSG, Lyon and Lille might have something to say about ligue one being less competitive than the championship!
Trust me the championship is no place for a 19 year old CB who doesn’t speak English “ yet” to learn his trade
Where he has gone is perfect and he will learn his trade without being kicked to pieces.

05 Jan 2021 19:42:46
I’d say PSG I wouldn’t exaggerate over the rest lol.

05 Jan 2021 19:43:30
Then take another season getting kicked in the prem makes perfect sense heheheheh.

05 Jan 2021 19:44:09
337 I meant more physical.

05 Jan 2021 19:55:45
Exactly mate a less physical but technical and competitive league is the next step between u23,s and the premier league
I’m happy for him anyhow and hope he comes back ready to slot in next season.

I thought I'd already explained what I didn't understand, but obviously not. Good luck with your search for better answers.
