Hello everyone

Just looking at the BBC football page and a couple of people have posted their views about tonight's cancelled fixture between Everton and City.

They are saying City should forfeit the game. Myself personally I don't think that's right but just wondering what other people and the Ed's make of it.

{Ed047's Note - I’m not sure what the rules are surrounding CV mate but clubs I think have had to play despite players missing and go with what they’ve had.

Trouble is obviously City seem to have been compromised to such a degree that their training ground is now completely closed.

So playing a game against another team for me would be way to risky as their squad could be rife with CV.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for views and honest opinion Ed
Stay safe and keep well.

{Ed047's Note - no probs and you TG

Surely we have a collective responsibility towards each other regardless whether we personally are concerned about being infected or not.

For me City are behaving responsibly.

{Ed047's Note - for me they are too 62 but I don’t know what the Premier Leagues rules are.

I assume however it is in line with what City are doing because the consequences of not are in no way worth any risk.

I'm not sure of the rules either Ed047 mate, but on the very day that positive tests and hospital admissions hit they're highest levels yet, how crazy would it be for anyone at City to mix with people outside of thier own club at this time.

{Ed047's Note - it would be nuts mate, 4 positive tests on the 25th followed up by more today is likely to mean more to come in my opinion mate.

Thus mixing would be ridiculous.

Absolutely Ed047 mate, my guess is those who are calling for City to forfeit the game were simply just letting their own emotions and disappointment at the game being called off get the better of them, hopefully once they've had chance to reflect they will see the bigger picture and feel differently.

{Ed047's Note - totally agree mate, there’s always some who will questions supposed motives with a variety of spurious allegations but sadly nothing less than expected in some quarters.

28 Dec 2020 20:08:38
Some people Just simply can't help themselves Ed047 mate, they believe what they choose to believe and absolutely nothing will change their opinion, they know what they know and anyone who can't see what they see are Just letting themselves be conned.

{Ed047's Note - absolutely mate just like the succession of managers thinking Xhaka is the answer 🤦‍♂️🤣

It sounds like they’ve had 8 positive results and closing their ground. Seems pretty serious and the right step to take. We had two players missing due to C.V. against Chelsea so when do you decide it’s no different to an injury savaged te@m and risk to safety. Both decisions seem correct to me and easy to make but what if no danger but 4 players out - game cancelled? Or you need to play on. I don’t think you can fudge anything and like I say these seem like easy correct decisions but there’s a huge gap between these two scenarios that will bring about some grey decisions.

Unprecedented times.

Thanks for the posts on this, nice to have such a discussion.

I know mate, after Arsene Emery and Arteta I really do have to ask myself the question? is it me that Just can't see how good he is :-)

{Ed047's Note - no I can safely say you’re not the only one 🤣

28 Dec 2020 21:37:54
Absolutely SY mate, personally I'd rather go on the side of caution myself.
If it turns out you were over cautious then you've inconvenienced a lot of people unnecessarily but it can to put right another day, while the price of pushing ahead regardless can have potentially life threatening consequences and that impossible to put right another day.
This won't last forever.

Gabriel has just tested positive.

{Ed047's Note - that’s not good news but great that the club did the right thing in isolating him.

Let’s just hope it was quick enough without any more spread.

With in excess of 41,000 positive tests today it’s not getting better any time soon sadly.

28 Dec 2020 22:08:04
2/3 of those positive tests in the south are now the new faster moving vairient Ed047 mate.

The new Oxford vaccine looks like being approved this week so hopefully the end is in sight, we've Just got to all work together to save as many lives as possible between now and enough people being vaccinated to get things going in the right direction.

{Ed047's Note - I had a feeling that was going to be the case mate and it can only be good news that the Oxford vaccine is now supposedly 95% successful.

It will be a much needed game changer world wide.

28 Dec 2020 22:36:16
Absolutely Ed047 mate, and it can be stored at normal fridge temperature which will make so much more easily transported worldwide and much more easily administered
For now we've just got to keep as many people as possible out of the water until the lifeboats arrive.

{Ed047's Note - That’s the most important thing, 🤞for all of us mate.

28 Dec 2020 23:05:59
It seems a long time ago when they said anything below 20,000 lives lost would be a good result Ed047 mate, let's all do all we can to keep it below 80,000 as the very worst case scenario.

{Ed047's Note - it does mate and I’m hoping New Year’s Eve doesn’t bring another big spike.

28 Dec 2020 23:38:33
Its a strange old virus though, and i'm unsure on the ‘contagious’ period as my wife tested positive last Saturday 19th, i'm awaiting my second test to come back, but my first was negative. Only got the second as i'm due on call at work from Thursday and have a lad in van with me, did it for his piece of mind with his family. Just seems strange for me to have not got it after being with her in the same house. One of our kids tested negative youngest refused to go 🤣 but no one else has had any symptoms what so ever.

28 Dec 2020 23:43:18
It’s also cheaper - good for poorer countries also.

29 Dec 2020 08:50:31
It is weird J93 mate, I have heard very similar stories to your own mate and unfortunately others where couples have both suffered badly from it.

Some people just seem to be naturally immune to it while others it can result in serious disability and of course loss of life itself. I hope your wife is OK mate?

Absolutely SY mate, we've got to make available to everyone everywhere who wishes to have it and cost should not be a barrier for anyone getting it.
