Well it’s ok talking about Ozils lack of influence but imo that’s a ridiculous comment

Ermmmmm Xhaka / Pepe there is over 100 million in transfer fees

Say no more.

Agree0 Disagree0

I get some people don't rate Mesut but I don't understand why anyone can actually claim or believe the claims he's been frozen out on football grounds, that is so obviously not the truth.
For me the issue isn't about why Arteta doesn't play Ozil is all about the fact Arteta is allowed to play Ozil and the way people running our club treat people and go about doing things.
The club is going to have big problems carrying the fans with it if those running things are allowed to go unchallenged and continue as they are now.

I'm with you Oxford, and Sy, Sw and 62 below. IMO ozils treatment is down to what's happened with China and the national team. The club are either under pressure to banish him or feel its needed to keep others in line.

I do wonder how many fan's season tickets have had to be used to pay ozils wages and bonus etc. and if I was a season ticket holder I would have considered starting a petition to demand my money wasn't wasted and that ozil should be played! (Regardless that it wouldn't happen ofc)

Personally I think the fan's deserve a clear and believable explanation and i think it's shameful that ozil (and any person) is treated this way by their employer. Its humiliating and don't think its in the teams interest. There is no plausible reason for him not to be included in the squad. Something else is at play. If he's breached his contract the club should make it public. If not, feels like discrimination and I hope he takes things further.

Bang on, this isn’t MA’s decision he’s been told what to do, it’s baffling and doesn’t sit right with me.

24 Oct 2020 14:30:36
He is not wanted, he was told so. He was given a choice to leave. He refused, so now he rots.

Its that simple.

Ozil has brought most of this on himself.

In the words of The Manic Street Preaches
" if we tolerate this "
What If Auba or Partey meet with the boards displeasure for some reason?

24 Oct 2020 15:57:54
We always say that players have the ultimate power overs the clubs, so perhaps this is what it looks like when the clubs try and fight back? As is the case when any firm or management decides to cull staff, it’s very ugly. Shame our club decided to make a stand on a player earning a fortune, and at the end of his career, and Who doesn’t need first team football any more. I think it would be best for both parties if Arsenal were to buy out the remainder of his contract, so he can go do whatever he wants, as long as it’s not football for the remainder of the season, and we don’t have him at the club, or tweeting about the club or team etc.

24 Oct 2020 16:06:21
Perhaps it's because there are too many non-home grown players. Just seen the list and not sure who I would have left out to be honest.

24 Oct 2020 16:38:39
Paying Ozil off is a sensible idea Epping mate but I doubt very much Mesut wouid agree to a gaging order in oder to make that happen.
I'm pretty sure Mesut will tell the world what rewlly went on once his contract expires with the club.

24 Oct 2020 16:36:40
Sally surely one of the goalkeepers?

24 Oct 2020 16:43:19
Spanner - you look at ability and MO would contribute a lot more than GX and Pepe

You sit him down and talk to him, and get him performing

He won’t go in January so we will pay his wages until the end of contract - not good sense having him sat at home on a Saturday or Sunday doing nothing, might as well get him involved .

He’s training with the first team so he’s clearly not being disruptive.

24 Oct 2020 17:06:54
Mustafi.

24 Oct 2020 17:12:25
No he definitely won't be going anywhere in January mate.
Next season he will really get his chance to rub Arsenal boards face in it at West Ham or another London club is my guess.

I know he's been tipped to end his career in Turkey but apparently he and his family are really happy in London and I can't see him turning down the opportunity to show what he can do in the premier league if used right.

24 Oct 2020 17:14:35
Yes quite a few for Europa league D16. I assume to give them all a chance to play.

24 Oct 2020 17:36:51
That’s a fair shout 62, I heard he loves it here in the UK, imagine JM getting him.

24 Oct 2020 18:36:19
That would be the perfect revenge for Mesut wouldn't it Banbury mate.
Imagine Mesut staring for Spurs as they pipped us for a top 4 spot next season?
I'm sure all gooners would be very understanding and sympathetic towards the board Edu and Arteta if that happend :-) .

24 Oct 2020 21:56:44
I have read that the club will save loadsamoney not paying Mesut's performance bonuses. I must admit I wouldn't stay anywhere I felt I wasn't needed whatever the wages and I'm not sure loyalty is the reason Mesut is staying. I don't think, until the offer he received this transfer window, any club has been able to afford his wages so I don't think there were many offers coming in. I have always loved Mesut but I just feel he has to accept he is not in the club's plans for the future and move on at very least to save his career.

24 Oct 2020 22:33:57
I wonder how those he gives half his wages to would feel if Mesut made the Arsenal board happy and agreed to leave Sally J?

24 Oct 2020 23:41:55
Unless he gets game time I worry he won't get a good deal at his next club Gunner. It's a long time till next August. surely it's better for him to move on somewhere he will play? I assume this situation is all about saving money. I'd love to see him playing for us again but I don't think I will : (.

25 Oct 2020 10:38:28
It doesn't look likely he will ever play for us again SallyJ but stranger things have happend, so until he actually leaves the club it's not impossible, no matter how unlikely it looks at the moment.

25 Oct 2020 11:17:46
What would you do in his place Gunner?

25 Oct 2020 12:10:42
Spanner, why kind of business/ club/ manager would have your highest paid member of staff, and record holder in your specialism barred from working, even if they couldn't do exactly what you wanted? They're proven to have talent. On top of that, for footballers you're not just wasting the wage and bonus, you're also cutting your nose off to show your face by decreasing the chance of selling the player on. Terrible business financially!

And if the fans are paying, are the club not just throwing the fans money away?

Surely from a purely playing perspective you'd have him on the bench for a key set piece or moment of brilliance, or even just when we're 3 nil up to rest others legs. The only reason to exclude him from Europe league on the basis of just not being wanted is that every other player there is really needed. I don't believe that for a second. The argument about home grown players sounds plausible but very unlikely, and if that's the reason then surely the club management are guilty of financial negligence!

25 Oct 2020 14:37:26
The last thing I'd do is give into the bully tactics of the Arsenal board Sally.

I'd think what a ridiculous situation it was where the Arsenal board bite their noses off to spite thier own faces and look forward to next summer and playing again for West ham Spurs Watford or any premier league club in or around London.

As for Arsenal the only thing the club can hope for is to hurt Mesuts future options as much as it's own ever decreasing reputation of decency, a lose lose draw is the clubs best possible outcome, pretty sad in my book.

25 Oct 2020 15:29:46
Perhaps this is the time the club reflects Gunner.

25 Oct 2020 16:04:20
Excellent post Jim, totally with every point.
