Amazing if true -" Mesut Ozil 'AXED from Arsenal Premier League squad. ".

Agree0 Disagree0

Not surprised, should just pay him off and release him, can’t be good for team morale when your highest paid player won’t be kicking a ball in competitive games and he’s just taking wages
We need to move on.

Even though it had been reported widely, it was still a shock. Such a strange situation.

20 Oct 2020 16:37:34
Am I missing something?

How is this a shock?

20 Oct 2020 16:55:46
What does it mean?
Does he have to train alone?
Or not train at all?
Is he banned from the ground?
I've absolutely no idea what axed from the first team squad actually means.

{Ed047's Note - it simply means he isn’t included in the list of players required to be submitted, to the relevant authority, for those competing in the remaining league fixtures.

It’s simply now set in stone as opposed to the will he won’t he play. To watch him in training, he is the one trying the least so to me, has clearly made no effort to force his was back into the reckoning.

Malaga perhaps shock was the wrong word. I thought he would still get game time but the door seems to have definitely been slammed shut!

20 Oct 2020 17:40:52
Thanks Ed047 mate, so he's now basically an ex Arsenal player is the clubs eyes.

{Ed047's Note - pretty much 62, he and Sokratis never made the 25 man squad so January will be the opportunity for them to go.

20 Oct 2020 18:19:21
It’s a case of him leaving the door open in the wind and forgetting his key! He had every chance to prove he was willing to step up to the same high intensity as MA has asked of the others but continued to stroll around and concentrate on his social media accounts.

If u think his exclusion is purely related to his effort then you are mistaken. For the sake of the club I’m glad it’s coming to an end and can’t wait to hear the actual details of what really happened.

As one of the Ed’s have said we used to be a club of integrity respect principles and that is all coming to an end and the Arsenal board should face the consequences and leave.

{Ed047's Note - G4E I don’t think there is the idea that it’s down to simply his level of effort as there are a multitude of other things that have been attributed to this situation, from the episode with his own country, to the fact that he declined to take a pay cut, it’s even muted that his focus is now on married life.

The only thing I could comment on with any modicum of truth was the effort he puts in during training.

No one comes out smelling of roses and the alleged £8 million bonus he got for staying hasn’t done him any favours with some, but how true is that even.

What ever happened, it’s a mess, that one thing is a cert!

The best guide as how someone is going to treat you in the future is to look at how they've treated others in the past.

Those running Arsenal right now aren't interested in right or wrong only in treating others as they deem fit.

Ozil, Athletico, Manchester City, the 55 ex employees Gunneraurus, there is a very distinct pattern that is plain to see and I very much doubt fans will be treated any differently when the club deems fit to do so.

I don’t hold his 8m payment against him. Club negotiated it and i'm sure I would accept it regardless of if working or not. He’s entitled to it and life’s short.

Just a shame we’ve wasted that amount on a player and not played him and it’s a shame we’ve never really set up our team to get the best out of him. Shame all round. When on form and when you get to see him play live - he’s a joy to watch, isn’t selfish or lazy. Such a shame for club and fans.

Time to move on but I agree 62 - club is a shambles from tactics to boardroom.

Out with the okd and in with the very old

Goalkeeper Petr Cech has been named in Chelsea's Premier League squad - despite having retired from playing at the end of the 2018-19 season.

Lol.

Ruthless people tend treat everyone equally in the end SY mate, people tend not to be to fussed about how everyone else gets treated and it's only when it's their turn they tend to cry foul.

Arteta has rewarded the ones who put in the most effort in training instead of those who have the most talent. I don't mean it as criticism, it's just the way I see it.
