I've just read the possible reason Mesut isn't being played could be to save money on some clauses in his contract where he gets extra for playing a certain amount of games. I guess this just adds to the difficulties surrounding him.

Apparently he received an 8mil loyalty bonus in September if you believe the press, maybe that’s why he offered to pay Gunnersaurus lol. I think we should make him dress up as Gunnersaurus and run laps around the entire pitch for the full 90mins of every game!
I’d do it for £350k per week.

I'd do itfor 350k a year, although 90 seconds might be my limit on the running side of things.
