I'm feeling a bit sceltical about us signing Partey and/ or Aouar this window if I'm honest. Would love it to happen but we just don't have the cash and haven't been able to raise funds through sales. We'll have to wait and see but I'd be surprised if we didn't turn our attention towards less expensive alternatives soon.

Question for everyone: Who would be your bargain pick?

I must admit, I do like Bissouma from Brighton as an alternative to Partey.

A Partey-type player. Not a cheap imitation like some of the names mentioned but the real deal or keep our powder dry.

I think I would be looking across La Liga as the standard is generally high and the DM role is popular across teams. As an example William Carvalho has been superb for Real Betis so far this season, and shows what that type of midfielder can add to a team, both defensively and offensively. I have always been a fan of Geoffrey Kondogbia, and it seems that Valencia are a selling club currently, so much so that their fans have been protesting at the owner. Maybe a cheeky bid of cash plus Torreira might be worth a go? Perhaps a cheaper alternative could be Okay Yokuslu who plays DM for Celta Vigo. He is 26, over 6ft, and played well in a generally poor CV team last season, and someone who I would think wouldn’t be overly expensive to sign.

{Ed002's Note - Why would Arsenal make an offer of a player plus cash for a player they have no interest in?}

I guess we could always look at what we do have rather than we don't yet have or what weaknesses we have already addressed rather than those that are yet to be addressed.
Defensively we have brought in Saliba Gabriel Mari and Tierney in the last 2 years to replace defenders most fans felt were not good enough. i think most people would agree our defence has been extensively overhauled.
Is it really wise to attempt to sort everything out in one go? Or is it better to take time sort one area out and make sure it's bedded in before moving onto the next project?
Those of us who accept our rebuild will take time stand a very reasonable chance of enjoying the season ahead but for those who want it all right now? You might want to invest in a bulk buy of stress balls, your going to need them me thinketh :-)
