Been an arsenal supporter since 1977 . I've seen hard times when an fa cup was a good season. only time I've felt like this was when Arsene took over . A clean slate new ideas its refreshing. For once in a long time I'm optimistic.

There are certainly more reasons to be optimistic than for a very very long time Mick. Arteta doesn't try to convince fans that a negative is really a positive or that what hasn't worked out in the past is suddenly going to come good even if we do nothing differently.
His actions show he not only that he knows where our weaknesses are but also that he is prepared to accept what he needs to do address them rather then just cross his fingers and hope our strengths will cover up our weaknesses with a win 5 3 philosophy.
Is Arteta the man to lead Arsenal back to being a genuine competitive force again? I really don't know but he and his decisions are definitely a genuine reason for optimism.

It seems he has the players onboard elneny seems a different player I think arteta makes a player feel needed which gets more out of the player. There will be ups and downs always is in a season but I'm quietly optimistic.

{Ed047's Note - welcome Mick and another benefit, potentially to Elneny playing well, is he may attract offers from Premier league sides as it seems a potential move to a Greek club is now off.

Nothing against him at all but if his sale gets money towards better players I’m happy.

Maybe arteta's thinking put him in shop window entice an offer.

I think Arteta is clear about what he expects from his players and equally what they have the right to expect from him, he reminds me of Jurgen Klopp in that respect.
He has a hard working and holds himself accountable for his decisions and choices and expects the sane from his players, he knows what he knows and accepts he doesn't know yet and still has to learn.

Or maybe Mikel sees in Elneny what others don't see like Jurgen what saw in Robertson or Leicester saw in Maguire when they were at Hull and everyone else failed to spot at the time.

Most clubs if they Knew back then what they know now about Maguire and Robertson wouldn't think twice about taking them off Hulls hands.

Does this mean you rate Maguire G62? I for one think he is poor on a good day. Not bad in a 3 but terrible in a 2, for me he always looks lost and unsure. Plus his positioning in open play is shocking.
