I really don't like the window spilling over into the start of the season, it must be so unsettling for the team and individual players linked with moves away or incoming. I hope Auba doesn't hang out till October before he signs dat ting (or not) !

Agree0 Disagree0

The thing is Sally everyone moaned last season because the premier league window closed before the season started while other countries continued trading.
I'm with you I think the day before the season starts should be that anf you've got what you've got for the season but not everyone likes that idea.

Surely it's not within the bounds of possibility for all European leagues to agree on the same date Gunner?

{Ed002's Note - Most had the same date - it was the English who were arrogant enough that they thought everyone would follow them in changing. Some leagues have other dates for specific reasons.}

Yes of course it's up to other leagues to set thier own dates especially those whos seasons run from spring to autum.
It's not up to the English premier league to worry about what anyone but the English premier league does.
If I set the rules in England the window would open the day after the season ends abd close the day before the new season starts, the rules would be the same for all 20 EPL teams that compete with each other and that's what matters.

The problem with that Gunner is that you should then be able to shut outgoings for clubs also. In a free trade market - That I guess would be a grey area when someone has an open transfer window.

So outgoings can still imbalance clubs and hence english clubs had to go back to the previous model.

Hi K90 mate I don't see it as a problem with players leaving to go overseas after our window closes.

If it's Auba for arguments sake then you would set your own date as a club by which date you would willing to sell by, far example 2 weeks before the EPL window closes so you have chance to replace him, where as someone like Mustafi you might consider letting him go without replacing him due to our glut of CBs.

No one can force a club to sell a player past a date they are happy to do so and the selling club is perfectly entitled to say we will sell by the 20th of July if an acceptable fee is agreed but not after that date at any price.

You're right there g62. Nobody can actually force a sale.
But nowadays with increase media presence and player/ agent power - Clubs are forced to sell I feel even though they wouldn't need go.

No player looks great doing it but we see it happening time and again.

I think Mesut is a prime example of the power of a contract K90 mate, Mesut is prepend to give up playing to see out his contract and clubs shouldn't be afraid to do the same in reverse by saying to a player your under contract you play for is or no one for 2 3 4 or 5 years whatever, give a player a year or 2 completely out of the picture and he would soon see his options disappearing fast.
Players power only works if the club gives in to it mate and clubs trying to force a player out only works if a player gives into the being frozen out by the club.

Agree with all your comments there 62.

I don’t understand why the transfer window needs to be so rigid. Yes, close the day before the season starts between EPL clubs, but if another transfer window is still open, say the Spanish, then you allow clubs to both buy and sell from Spain until that window closes. I don’t see any issue with that.

{Ed002's Note - You can already sell to countries with open windows.}

Thank you Banbury mate.
