Interesting to see Sanchez wanted to come back to Arsenal. I was a big fan and often wonder what could have been.

It just goes to show that the grass isn't always greener Sally. He was greedy and couldn't wait to leave his Arsenal career behind him, only to regret it as soon as he had his first Man United training session (if you believe what he says) . He was fantastic for us and I was gutted to see him go but as we say quite often on this page, nobody is bigger than the club.

{Ed047's Note - to be fair his form had dipped quite alarmingly at the end for us but that may just have initially been the circumstances.

He certainly never got it back that’s for sure.

Yeah exactly mate. His mindset may have changed when he found out that a potential move was being touted. If I remember rightly City were close to signing him before Man Utd so that would have turned his head initially no doubt.

In my opinion Sanchez was excellent for us up until the last half a season when he was forced to stay but mentally had already left the club, we should have taken City's 60 million once it was clear he had no intention of renewing his Arsenal contact and was prepared to run down his last year if absolutely forced to do so. While he was committed to Arsenal and wanted to be he was magnificent and gave absolutely everything for the shirt in every game but once he lost his passion for playing in those last 5 months he was poor at best.

{Ed001's Note - you have to remember that there were problems behind the scenes as well, with him being disgusted with the players celebrating (as he saw it) after defeats. He wanted to go before the offer came in from City, which makes it all the more stupid that the club rejected it!}

I felt at the time it was just Jose getting one over on City. Seemed absolutely ridiculous what they offered him. Sanchez has said he felt Arsenal weren't ambitious enough, which at that time might have been true but Jose certainly offered him the world.

Absolutely true Ed001 mate and i knew exactly how he felt. It made me feel physically sick watching the team Just completely surrender on the pitch as they got thrashed time and time again then simply wait for the final whistle, trot over to the fans give them a clap before heading for the changing room to post some more selfies! That was the most embarrassing period in the clubs history in my opinion and how it was allowed to go on so long is beyond belief.

{Ed001's Note - the selfies were cringeworthy. I just didn't get how they could not be too ashamed to do it. It is bad enough losing when you are just playing a game for fun, but losing when you are representing thousands is something else entirely!}

Weak mentality Ed. As much as I don’t like Liverpool they have the winning mentality, each of them. I feel we are slowly getting it back, time will tell.

{Ed001's Note - very true.}

Yep Ed001 I agree pathetic, a bit like getting the entire Liverpool team to line up in front of the Kop after rescuing a last minute draw against West Brom Pathetic.

{Ed001's Note - really? Didn't seem to do any harm to thank the fans for staying the 90 minutes and getting them onside though did it? Pathetic is finishing 8th in the league after spending over £100m in the summer, whereas the team that thanked the fans finished a little bit above that didn't they? I bet you would love to have had that moment in front of the fans wouldn't you? With players that actually give a toss and win the Premier League and Champions League for those fans, who got behind them after that moment. Yep, you really know your stuff little man.}

It was very much an era of non accountability Ed001 mate and as long as top 4 was maintain the cosy self serving culture that ran throughout the club could be maintained with little resistance.
At that time Arsenal was no place for a hungry player who wanted more than just achieving the minimum requirement and relaxing, something Ozil had trouble with at first but soon learned he wouldn't be popular with teammates if he rocked the cosy boat.
