We can't let Ainsley go, he's just been called up to the England squad! Don't want to lose Emi either, he absolutely commands the goal.

{Ed047's Note - with you 100% on that one Sally, both way to good to let can, there’s more than enough at the head of the queue before we let them go.

Great news for him about England too!

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Aug 2020 21:29:11
We need to keep hold of him and Emi - sell players without passion and talent. Give the youngsters a sense of hope.

29 Aug 2020 21:33:33
Can you have a quiet word with Stan please Ed047.

{Ed047's Note - leave it with me! 🤣

29 Aug 2020 21:51:17
Congratulations Maitland Niles lad man of the match today and your first England call up, what a day!

Unfortunately Sally and Ed047 his chances at Arsenal will be limited once everyone is fit and new players arrive and he will only be used as a makeshift wing back or midfield cover at best if he stays at Arsenal.

Unfortunately his career opportunities will be better served at Wolves as he just won't get the chances at Arsenal no matter how much we'd like it to be otherwise.

{Ed047's Note - yes but do you think he’d take a shot as a full time right back come wingback if we off load Bellerin. He is definitely better defensively.

29 Aug 2020 22:06:22
Sally/ Ed047 - I look at this slightly differently.

If we hold on to AMN - What does he offer us
Cover in both FB/ WB positions and CDM (Maybe) .
How good is he compared to top FB/ WB/ CDMs in the world now?

If his sale can let us buy a Partey or Aouar- Yes sanction it.

If we are selling him less than 25M - Then he is amazing for squad depth.

I am with Arteta when he says emotions need to be kept aside when we are rebuilding.

Not sure if he feels this way about AMN though but just generally quoting him ;)

{Ed047's Note - but surely we have others not as good as him that could be sold to make the money for the others.

He is the type of all rounder in the squad you need and as I said to Sally, how about making RB his own if we let Bellerin go.

29 Aug 2020 22:21:49
Honestly if we let emi leave that will be worse decision ever.

29 Aug 2020 22:56:19
Ed047 I’m with you on the right fullback idea, I would rather he played than hector and it’s not that I am not of fan of Bellerin It’s that simply I think he offers more he’s more of a presence better defensively and his final ball etc can be worked on.

I also think that sooner or later hector is going to want to move on and I don’t think Ainsley will so it’s perhaps saving us a bit of cash latter down the line as we will need it with what ed02 has being telling us about spending future money.

{Ed047's Note - I like Hector just feel after his initial season he’s not kicked on to be the player I thought he was going to turn into. AMN keeps putting in good performances too.

The thing is right now it’s all a bit of a guessing game with whose going and whose coming.

Arteta seems like he’s going to be pretty ruthless.

29 Aug 2020 23:21:59
He may be prepared to play fullback for us Ed, I suppose a lot depends on where he himself sees his best position plus of course now he has to consider where England see him playing.

If Wolves offer him what he wants and we only offer him what we want then he could take some persuading to stay.

Im just trying to look through the players eyes apoosed to just seeing what we fans want to be true, mind you I'm not Maitland Niles so I've no idea what he really thinks and my opinion is based 1000% on guess work :-)

{Ed047's Note - I honestly think his preference would be to stay here, if Arteta said I want you as a right back I think he’d stay.

But like you say, ultimately it’s what he thinks.

29 Aug 2020 23:29:03
This is going to be a tough season so I think we need lots of good quality squad players Kasyap. Ainsley can only get better in my opinion. What a day for the young man, MOTM, England call up and his birthday! 😊😊
I think Emi's size is such a plus. What a revelation he's been!

30 Aug 2020 07:16:36
He's said a few times though that his preference is to play in centre midfield. I don't think he's happy playing full back but at the moment he's competent enough to provide us cover there and that's why he's being used. The club clearly don't think he's good enough to play where he wants too and that's evident but playing Elneny over AMN in midfield. We could of lined up with Saka at LB and given AMN the CM spot with Nelson filling the natural winger position but he can't even get in over Willock or Elneny. Credit where credits due, he's played well at FB and it's about balance in the squad but the poor kid can't get a CM shot so he has to look at his options. Maybe we can convince him to look at a permenant position change, its certainly not unheard of but nobody wants to buy the trash and we need to raise funds.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair Maitland-Niles never said anything about being unhappy in any position, quite the opposite, he has said a number of times that he would play where the manager asks him to. What he did say, and was twisted by the media, is that full-back is not his favourite position, central midfield is. However that is not as exciting for click-bait as a headline screaming that Maitland-Niles doesn't want to play at full-back.}

30 Aug 2020 08:25:48
I would be sad to see Emi and AMN go, they both have a passion and willingness to learn that you don't always get with transfers into a club, its just an unknown when we buy them.
We have issues with finances so our forced to do some selling.
Surely we need to be getting rid of the older players who aren't being used and have a bigger impact on the wage list?
Incidentally, though Holding played well yesterday and think i'd like to keep him. We have a lot of centre backs! It's like we are expecting 3 of them to be injured for the whole season!

30 Aug 2020 08:47:11
We have to trust Arteta

Let’s get behind him, what ever he does.

30 Aug 2020 08:49:28
That's a very fair comment Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - it is a shame but the media have no interest in reporting the truth and only in sensationalising things. They all have an agenda and work to it. Mostly though they are just after clicks and will make sure every story is presented in a way that brings in the most of them possible.}

30 Aug 2020 09:51:08
Absolutely mate time and again we see it. I think the trick to think for yourself and question every headline you read and ask how reliable has this outlet been in the past? Are they well known for spreading false stories?
It saves a lot of unnecessary heartache if you instantly dismiss everything the usual suspects say and look at whether the genuine sources are saying anything on this story.
I love stuff like " Klopp secretly longs to manage Real "
Yeah? And why exactly did Jurgen Klopp decide to share this secret he doesn't want anyone in the world to know about with the The Daily Fibber Newspaper:-) yet people buy into it and worry about it without stopping to think, hang on a minute?

{Ed001's Note - that's why I don't really read any newspapers or anything other than when I am doing research for articles. Then I check everything over and over.}

30 Aug 2020 10:42:34
Absolutely mate, you only have to read any newspaper from August 2019 to realise just how much B/ S they told back then to realise just how much rubbish they are telling everyone in August 2020 too.
Hasn't Messi been leaving Barcelona once before? :-)

{Ed001's Note - more than once mate.}

30 Aug 2020 10:58:24
Ed001, I didn't say that 'he' said he wasn't happy. Like you stated as well, I said that his preference is to play in central midfield and that I don't think he's happy playing at FB. He can say he doesn't mind and will play anywhere but personally I don't think he's happy. I think I recall Ed002 saying that the club doesn't see him as good enough to play there. I might be wrong but I think I read that somewhere on here and if that's the case then he does need to look at his options. I don't want him to leave because every club needs a versatile player and he's proven that he's capable of being that person on a consistent basis.

30 Aug 2020 10:59:08
Another player to add to the don’t sell list is Holding. He keeps popping up on the list of players we are looking to offload, and yet is playing every game, and doing well. Add to the fact we need English players in the squad, and surely it would be mad to let him go now, just as he appears to be stepping up and showing his ability?

30 Aug 2020 11:51:34
It would be Epping mate for sure but nobody wants to buy the trash. People want to buy the Holdings, AMN, Laca's and we need to raise funds. We can all sit here and say that we should offload Mustafi and so on but people don't want them. With Saliba, Mari and possibly Gabriel we can afford to sell Holding if the money is right, whether we want it to happen or not.

30 Aug 2020 12:00:27
Tough choices will have to be made if we want to buy players with big price tags and some players we don't want to see leave will have be let go to raise money for those coming in like Gabriel and others. Unfortunately we can't simply sell Elneny Miki Guendozi and Torreira repeatedly until we raise the funds we need :-) it would be nice if we could but somewhere along the line there has to be a trade off between in an ideal world and in reality!
Basically we may not like every decision and choice Arteta makes but we have to back him in those choices until they are proven to have been wrong.
It's where we finish next season will prove Arteta right or wrong in his decisions.

30 Aug 2020 12:14:42
Best result is a year long loan for Holding to see how a long run in the premiership works out. Would be good for him to go to a strong defence minded coach as again, same as Bellerin, I’m not sure we have done a great job developing the defensive side of our players with potential. Forward creative players +0- yes but not defensively. Most of our loanees come back stronger defensively than creatively. Some of that is pure game time and some of it is coaching.

I like Holding, Emi and AMN. It would be a shame that crop of talent is sold but we are a selling club until we get a sugar daddy. We need to sell well. But unlike the past, buy well. No point selling poorly and buying poorly. Might as well stick with the youth,

Sell Bellerin before this bunch and Chambers and Laca and sell ata discount Papa and Mustafi. sell Leno before Emi.

30 Aug 2020 12:47:29
Agree on the defensive coaching being very much a side salad apoosed to part of the main meal at Arsenal for years SY mate.
Of course we all want to see attacking sexy football but ultimately if you can't defend your never going to be able to compete for big prizes, it's all about ballance and realising that not conceding is equally as important as scoring.

30 Aug 2020 14:07:32
I would be ok for Holding to go out on loan as long as it’s not with an option to buy. It’s absolutely crazy selling players who are good, or who you want, just because you can’t offload the rubbish. There is another choice, stop buying. We should not have signed Willian or this other supposed CB (if it actually happens) . We have a youth set up, and players coming through. If we have no money, then use that resource instead, until you can shift the trash, at the end of their contracts. This should also be a lesson to all, in this post C.V. world sense and reality may finally be returnImg to top tier football, and especially the premiership bubble, who have been living an an unrealistic environment for years. Good and useful assets, like in every other facet of life, will always be in demand, and maintain a sell-on value. The rest is just rubbish for the dump. Football is finally hitting that reality; multiple teams will still fight for Messi, s signature, but no one will call for Elneny, hence why he now forms part of our “new” midfield partnership. The sooner our management realises this, the better our long term future will look.
