You guys know In the end I was calling for Wenger but let’s be honest it was the move to the new stadium that put all the financial restraints on Wenger - we were promised all would be good in 5 years once in the stadium but as we know it’s been a lot longer - the financial restraints still continue with us potentially making 55 redundant . It wasn’t just Wenger.

Banbury he hap money to spend in the last 4 years at the club.

Ozil, Sanchez, Mustafi, Granit, Lacazette and PEA all cost a fortune

Don’t get me started on the Sanchez- mickey deal what was he thinking not taking the 60 million from city.

The board backed Wenger in the transfer market as they did Emery.

Just to add, Martinez was at the club 10 years and is only now given a chance. He was on wagers watch as well.

So he gave us Martinez for free - better than Leno. Lovely gift along with the youth now coming through. He actually left the youth in a better position than GG when he left.

Only bad signing above was Mustafi but now everyone loves him for some reason.

He was backed at the end but years of having to sell talent to pay the bills and ensure everyone got paid while still getting European football every year.

Let’s not argue about Wenger - he’s our greatest manager and stayed a bit too long.

Oh yes European football! By god I remember those thrashing’s by Bayern Munich and the other embarrassing results that make me cringe thinking about them.

That's it in a nutshell SY, he was without a doubt our greatest ever manager who arrived a revolutionary genius and in a very short space of time gave us the best times we've ever known. But he did stay way to long and went from revolutionary football genius to corporate businessman who saw 4th place as financially rewarding as 1st place but at less cost to achieve.

I’m sure there were great nights also - always two sides to a coin.

07 Aug 2020 19:37:23
You tell me what great nights we had in Europe since we moved to the emirates.? I can only think of Barcelona.

07 Aug 2020 19:48:43
Of course there were good nights mate some really enjoyable ones but oh those bad nights were bad ones too, 8 consecutive last 16 exists virtually all of which included an embarrassing defeat in at least 1 of the two legs.
Some will always remember the best and block out the worst and simply chose not to ignore it.
A few others became so disillusioned they can't see past the anger and enjoy the good memories that were plentiful back in the day.
Personally I can't deliberately kid myself so try my best to see things how they really were both the good bits and the bad bits.
We are all different which is why we disagree :-)
