I like the realism and acceptance rather than positive garbage from Arteta.
Is winning the FA cup and 8th place a good season for Arsenal? No it's not a good season.
Also he said " over 38 games and 10 months you finish where you deserve to finish "
I absolutely love that honesty that we've simply not been accustomed to at Arsenal for a very long time.
We've had more than our fair share of positive spin and total denial of reality and It's really refreshing to hear someone in a position of power at Arsenal tell it like it is.
I just hope he's as frank honest and open throughout his Arsenal manager career.

100% mate it's great to see. One thing Arteta did mention is the size of the gap between us and those above which I think he described as huge? Rightly so, it's huge between us and the likes of City and Liverpool but it's not as big as we think for the rest. Most of the teams above us have actually lost more games but we have drawn a crazy amount and a lot of them were from winning positions. If we can turn a handful of them in to wins then the gap in reality isn't as big as we think.

Very true Glen but I'd rather hear the words huge used than " we are not far away " or " the potential in our squad is huge " and of course the old favourite " were not as far away as people think we are " :-) .
It's really exciting to listen to Arteta"s acceptance of the situation rather than the embarrassing nonsense of the past that few but the person saying it took seriously.
Obviously it doesn't mean because Arteta talks sense he is definitely the man to turn us around but it's most definitely a very good step in the right direction that's for sure :-)

I agree with both of you

It’s rather refreshing to hear.

The players certainly won't go into there summer break thinking all they've got to do is turn up next season carry on as always and things will magically fallen into place next season for them :-) .
I'm sure everyone knows where they stand and it's just not good enough.

Yeah definitely mate. I'm sure he'll be keeping them in check during the short break! I just hope he can get them going nice and early with any new additions. We don't have a lot of time to tweak the squad if we are going to without causing too much unrest amongst the lads.

It is a short break Glen mate and I'm not expecting revolutionary change next season, I'd settle for top 6 and more consistent performances in Arteta first full season. Obviously more would be a very welcome bonus but United Chelsea Spurs and possibly Wolves and Leicester will feel they are every bit as much if not more capable than us of getting 3rd or 4th. We have to set targets than are both reasonable as well as an improvement on this season in my opinion.
