I'm very concerned there is pressure being put on players to get back too soon. What do others think? I miss footie so much but I don't want players back before other workplaces.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think some players may express fears and may refuse to play.
What happens if a player tests positive after a game? Does that mean all players and staff from both teams have to self isolate and are unable to play or train meaning fixtures are postponed yet again?
It's totally unworkable and very poorly thought through in my opinion Sally.

{Ed002's Note - The detailed plan will not be available until Thursday.}

Thanks Ed and yes gunner I agree. Let's see what comes through on Thursday. It's not just the players and staff to consider, their families will be impacted too. I just hope that money doesn't overrule safety and duty of care.

{Ed002's Note - I am not advocating going back to play but folks are trying to find a way.}

Slap in the face to other businesses who are losing money too if something as completely unessential as sport can go ahead before they can.

{Ed001's Note - yes but it is seen by government as essential to morale of ordinary people, hence the push.}

04 May 2020 11:16:09
Ahh! Placate the masses! I've been wondering are any clubs who have cut or deferred wages going to be able to conduct transfers? Surely the players will be like hold up, we will take a cut if you're in trouble, but if a few months later you now have 10s of millions for transfers you can pay us first.

{Ed002's Note - It is a matter for individual clubs to resolve.}

Cheers Ed002, I think it would sensible to wait and see what restrictions the government lifts for the general public before football made any decision one way or the other.
I see some clubs want relegation removed before agreeing to use neutral venues something which if agreed to would only further the accusations of the English premier league being completely financially motivated and being run for the good of the big clubs rather than the game as a whole.
As much as in an ideal world Liverpool would get to win a title they deserve Leeds and other clubs who have worked every bit as hard and to who's fans it means every bit a much deserve the same chance to win promotion as Liverpool and those clubs chasing European football deserve.
For football to retain any integrity beyond financial the same rules and opportunities need time apply to everyone equally, either finish the season for everyone with promotion and relegation as normal no matter how long it takes or null and void the entire season for everyone.
One rule for the rich and another for the poor will do nothing but harm to the game long term in my opinion.

{Ed002's Note - The Premier League could have made a lot more decisions than they have. There has been no discussion whatsoever at Premier League level about the removal of relegation in this context at all. You seem to be obsessing about the finances and throwing around accusations that are completely unfounded without understanding what the situation is.}

04 May 2020 11:56:32
No I totally agree they haven't made any decisions which is why I said they should wait and see what the government does before they do make any.
But some clubs who face the possibility of relegation are questioning the integrity of results if played at neutral grounds so will only support the neutral ground Idea if the threat of relegation is removed and if relegation were to be removed then there is no integrity left for the season as a whole.
My point is whatever they decide it has to be for the good of the game as a whole simply for the good of the elite few.

{Ed002's Note - This matter of relegation has not been discussed - and there are two of the top six objecting to the use of neutral venues. Your point is wrong.}

Perhaps each team should delegate their top gamer and thrash it out on FIFA2020 😉.

{Ed047's Note - how about they play a full side of first team players in FIFA 2020 with each player being themselves, their own controller and subs included.

Then just play out the fixtures the full 90 minutes and show it all live!

No need for VAR either, scores like 43-12 so it’s a win win😉🤣

Or instead of playing games penalty shoot outs could decide results, 18 spot kicks each and if it's a draw it's a draw :-) . No problem with social distancing from 12 yards and loads of room for waiting players and officials to keep apart too.

{Ed002's Note - Actually it may provide a solution for two issues, but not all games.}

04 May 2020 18:17:00
It's a solution Ed002 mate although I admit it might not be a brilliant or acceptable solution for most involved.
Ideally a solution that is acceptable even if reluctantly by virtually all and can draw a line under the 2019/ 20 season asap is needed in my opinion.

{Ed002's Note - It will not be proposed as a solution and largey the discussion is about something else and not abot rock, paper scissors or indeed playing each game as penalties. It would be best to drop the subject as clearerly the Arsenal supporters are struggling to understand the issue and what is going on.}

04 May 2020 18:52:11
I don't think it's fair to judge all Arsenal fans by me as the vast majority are of at least average intelligence if not higher, if I spoke for all Arsenal fans the club would be very different situation to the one its in today.

{Ed002's Note - People are not grasping the situation - and you are at the top end of the Arsenal fans for me.}

04 May 2020 19:23:05
Thunk you Ed, I'm flatted :-)

04 May 2020 19:14:06
Ed047 you have the answer! get yourself on the phone to the FA immediately and save the day ⚽⚽⚽🌈😊.

{Ed047's Note - well it makes perfect sense to me Sally, I’ll give them a ring in the morning! 🤣

09 May 2020 15:58:47
------------ abuse removed - well done, I am sure the other fans will be pleased with no more updates because of you --------------
