So Emery, what went wrong.

"There were several problems: four captains; the [Mesut] Ozil - [Sead] Kolasinac case; [Nicolas] Pepe's signing, which needs time to be that of France . We didn't play well, that's for sure.

"That brought us bad results, there was no improvement, the fans focused on me and they threw me out. But I keep the positive things, there were many. "

4 captains - your fault
Ozil - your fault
Pepe - you're the coach bud
Fans paid to watch your crap - your fault
You taking no ownership - that's the problem.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope Emery can find a good friend who can be honest with him about his mistakes and Emery will listen then learn from those mistakes in his next job.
He said when he left her lost his job because of 1 bad month, which to me just highlighted how out of touch with the reality of things he really was and why things could never improved for him or us while together.
If he's smart he will ask honest difficult questions of those who are capable of giving him honest straight answers.

Very true - hope he does as he seems like a nice guy and I have nothing against him

I wish him well.

Me too mate, he isn't a bad person Just a very misguided one about his own role and importance in achieving results, in my opinion he felt his input was more crucial than the players in achieving each and every result.

So Mikel, will the two arrivals limit opportunities in the first team?

“This club needs competition of two or three players in each position to fight, ”

”If they are able to fight and compete and they are better than the other ones, they will play. If not, someone else will play.

competition and Fight

“Players are going to start games if they deserve to play and if they perform at the level of this football club.

fair competition

“We have some necessities in certain areas, playing some players in positions that are not really their positions. With more time I would like to have specialists for every position to do exactly what we want to do.

specialists in each position

Refreshing and I know people want to play youth - I don’t want us to never have a long term plan and just play 34 year olds. I want the best players on the pitch, develop youth but not at expense of club and play experience but not at the expense of the club. We’ve always wanted competition for positions, a team that can defend and attack, a team that entertains while plays for the shirt. The youngsters should earn their spot by playing well and earning their position, same as Ozil, PEA etc.

I trust Mikel to get the balance right. Not the most exciting window but we covered the positions required with the budget we’ve got. The boss is also talking sense and sensibly addressing the youth question. COYG!

I hope Mikel will play his best 11 whenever possible while telling those in the team " It's up to you to keep your place with your performance and effort " while telling the rest of the squad " When your chance comes, make it count and make yourself undropable "

Rotation takes away competition in my opinion and job share takes away competitive atmosphere.

Turn taking is for mates on the local park while professional football should be about competition hunger and desperation to get in or stay in the team.

{Ed047's Note - I think he’s more than already showed that’s what he’s about 62.

I think it’s hard for some fans to drag themselves away from all of our previous weaknesses which Arteta has clearly made his absolute priority.

Absolutely Ed047 mate I'm super impressed by Arteta as he seems to be the mixture of George/ Arsene we desperately needed, there is of course a place for sentiment but not in the field of competitive sports and in the pursuit of being the best you can possibly be within your sport.

When you know you are replaceable it drives you forward because you are desperate to hang on to what you have but the moment you start thinking you are safe no matter what it's the beginning of a downward spiral.

{Ed047's Note - 100% 62 and the game against Burnley will be another big test.

We actually have some fighters in this team now too who are no longer going to rollover

That's my favourite thing about Artetta's Arsenal, no more rolling over and giving up then having the audacity to go over and clap the fans at the end of the game like defeated warriors without a battle scar between them, Grrrrr that was what stopped me watching live games under Arsene in the end, I just couldn't stand to watch it anymore.
I will back the players the team the manager win lose or draw as long as they give all they have for the club and the fans each and every game I'm happy.

Chelsea second half was the perfect example - down to 10 men, pull level then go 2 1 down. Our fight and spirit keep us going.

01 Feb 2020 16:43:18
Exactly SY mate, win lose or draw that kind of effort deserves 100% backing from all fans.
Winning is brilliant but 100% effort is all you can demand.

Soares has said that he’s seen a change at Arsenal -

“I see a team that wants to assume the game, a team that is comfortable to have the ball, and I see everyone looks like they are working hard when they lose possession as well.

“There’s a high press and then it’s all about controlling the opponent and trying to score as well. I think Arsenal is in a good way. ”

That’s a nice image that should drive a far better culture throughout our club.
