As much as I loved him as a player, I have no desire to see Vieira installed as manager. If he had never played for us, nobody would even consider him as an option. We need experience and skill to make the adjustments necessary to take us forward in the medium term.

The pool of who might be in the frame seems to be diminishing by the day. If the right person cannot be found, we may as well leave Freddie in place until we reorganise ourselves at the end of the season. Much better to do that than bring some half a$sed choice for 18 months.

So disillusioned.

Good post, this ex player thing doesn’t do it for me . The problem I have with Freddie is that after all the football he’s watched this season he still doesn’t know our best XI.

If as I expect we lose tomorrow night we obviously have to think again and think quickly about how we survive this season as a premier league club Urban mate.
For various reasons there doesn't seem to be a stand out candidate we can go for with any real enthusiasm of attracting.
Things change quickly in football and more than anything we need to buy ourselves some time if we can, but how we do that I'm not sure especially since Fredie is struggling much much more than I ever dreamed he might.
Ideally my lack of confidence in the team will be proved wrong and we will win tomorrow night, can't see it but I hope to be wrong for sure.

One of the problems we have this season is if Freddie is in until the end of the season, will the board give him money to spend on a player (s) that a new manager might not want.
Yet with so many of our players not showing what’s required a freshen up is needed. (CB and CM) .

The only way to save our season now is to invest in January (even from sales) . In the hope we can in the Europa. Not very likely.

I’m sure the new manager will want a centrehalf at a minimum so signing one in Jan wouldn’t hurt. I would sell Papa, Luiz, Granit and possibly Torreira in Jan just in case the new boss is even tempted to play any of them. Best remove temptation. 😂😂.

{Ed047's Note - can I ask what you’re not liking about Torriera SY?

08 Dec 2019 18:42:50
Torriera is a keeper at the moment for me unless he clearly wants to go. It would be desirable in the long term to partner him with a Cazorla type player. I have wondered if Ozil could play that deeper kind of role. Don't all scream at me at once. :)

I suspect all our respective views on the potential new manager might depend on whether we are scrubbing this season as a lost cause or not.

47 - I just do t think he has the stature and power I want in CDM. When I think of Oaddy, Petit, silva etc they were strong and disciplined but mainly tough. Torreira seems to run around a lot and fall over a lot - he’s not going to help us defend corners or be imposing on the pitch. He gave us energy and I remember Merson saying we over egged how good he was and he looked better because we were poor and he wouldn’t get into another top 4 midfield. I agree with him there and I would rather have a Nzonzi or Doucoure type CDM personally. I like Santi but Torreira isn’t a Santi.
That busy “wasp” of a midfielder isn’t my bag to be honest and I think he get pulled out of position and bullied too easily.

We were so happy with torriera we he started but until mr dicky smashed his confidence like many others in the team. I still think he can do well and be useful for us.

Ed47 / did my reply make any sense?

{Ed047's Note - yes totally SY, I didn’t post your initial reply so wasn’t able to answer.

My thoughts are the same, after initially thinking that he really looked the part he’s gone backwards dramatically for me. The constant falling over or being brushed off the ball isn’t great either.

My only hope being that, he was doing a great job in Italy and does one for his country, so maybe it’s just because we’ve become so unorganised that he’s trying to cover too much.

Let’s not forget that Kante is no giant either.

In essence I’ve not given up on him totally as would like to see him under a better coach.

Torriera’s a beast. he’s simply being given the wrong instructions.
Kante is outrageous but he was far batter just sitting n sweeping, you tell Torriera to do the same n he will flourish, he’ll be the first name on team sheet for many.
You need that energy in-front of the defense (especially ours:)

We need to go back to basics n start with passion, just look at big Dunk. the buzz around that club after just one game because he’s brought passion.
