Can someone explain this Nacho business? Why on earth would we let a decent, albeit aging, player go when our first choice LB is nowhere near fit?
Is there something in his contract that means we let him go in the last year of his contract if he fancies it? Just seems a bit mad. I can see maybe sorting out a transfer to happen in January, but to leave us with Kolasinac (can't defend unless there's a knife involved) as the only LB is madness! Ed's, can you shed any light on this?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, he is third choice and not required any longer. He has a good option available to him and Arsenal will let him leave.}

I can only guess the club doesn't want another Kos situation especially if certain things have been talked about and agreed for a while, if it's his chioce 100% then good luck to Nacho but if it's ours then it's madness to weaken an already questionable position further.

We have 2 LB’s and plenty of options at CB. We receive a fee if £3m and save 3 or 4 million in wages, which can go towards the January window.

{Ed002's Note - That is not how the finances work.}

Ed, we reportedly receive a fee for Monreal and if we sell him, the wages are off the books. These factors will become part of our future financial considerations over time.

{Ed002's Note - I am afraid it is notheg to do with January and your view is very naive.}

Or Kol gets injured and Tierney struggles to get fit and we miss out on champions league football and the money it brings in because we had no left back?
Penny wise Pound poor
Forget the finances and do things for footballing reasons.
Kol isn't a good fullback Tierney ia unfit and as yet unproven in the premier league (we don't know he won't struggle to adjust yet) and if we can keep Nacho it makes perfect footballing sense to do so.

I understand that it could be a good deal all round, but from an Arsenal perspective we need:

1/ Tierney to get fit, stay fit and adapt quickly to the PL.

2/ Kola to suddenly become a competent LB.
I agree with gunner62, this could come back to haunt us. I’d much rather keep Nacho until January. At least then we have options.

Naive Ed, perhaps not? Of course taking a player off the wages in August will free up wages not paid to Monreal for future use, whether in January or future windows, as will £3m coming into the club, which may not be paid in one payment, but as a known fact can be included in future financial considerations.
We also need to comply with the PL and CL squad rules. So selling a ‘foreign’ player will free up a valuable place.

{Ed002's Note - You have zero grasp about the finances. Perhaps it would be better not clutching at straws like this.}

Love when RG gets shut down. Talking nonsense as always.
