No shame in losing away to the current Champions League winners. Klopp has built a fine side. His first season started with a EL final defeat and it took 3 seasons to build his CL winning team.
Emery inherited a weaker squad than Klopp inherited. In his first season Arsenal finished with more points than the season before, in a higher position, closer to the PL winners, reached the EL final and only a point or two away from a top 4 position. The changes to the squad have improved the squad he took over and there is still surgery to do, with players such as Mustafi, Elneny, Chambers, Mkhitaryan and Ozil needing to be shipped out. Success for Emery this season would be CL qualification. By his third season at the club, the squad should be formed more or less as he wishes and trophies expected.

Your making excuses for him again RG mate, let the man stand or fall on what he does not make excuses every time we lose and celebrate his brilliance when we win.
The Liverpool Jurgen inherited were certainly no betrer than Emery got at Arsenal.
If Emery is good enough he will prove it and if he isn't he will be replaced, it's the same deal every manager accepts when they take the job.
Wrapping Arsene in blame proof cotton wool did niether him or Arsenal any good at all and it won't do Emery any good either.

By the way I totally agree RG top 4 really would represent success this season for Emery I think every fan would be over the moon happy with that as long as weren't completely awful but sligjtly less awful than Chelsea and United achieving while achieving it, but equally missing out on top 4 this season of all seasons would be a big failure.
He has the squad and we like all clubs will get injuries so if he fails no excuses but equally if he gets us 80 points for the first time in 12 years absolutely no complaints either.
That sounds reasonable to me.
