Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

I would like to be wrong, but all our transfer (non) activity is a combination of hearsay and whispers that never come to anything. Tierney, three bids, none close to what Celtic want. Soares, in the news, not in the news, bid made, bid not made, now nothing. Zaha, paltry 40m offered for a player (over) valued at twice that amount. Saliba, looks like happening, but we won't see him for a year, and Ceballos, possibly a year long loan, no option to buy, no first option to buy.

Now, I know much of this is paper talk, but I can't be alone in thinking that other clubs generate paper gossip that comes to something. Ours is just one false dawn after another.

But the main issue, one which I suspect focusses most of our minds, is that in all the speculation, the position that most needs sorting out is barely mentioned. Are we really going to drift into next season with the same combination of failures at the back.

I try to be positive, but it's getting very difficult to see any future success at Arsenal.

It doesn't look good right now UC mate but two things, the window isn't closed and we still always have the option to train our defence to operate as an effective unit whicb is something Arsene never thought of doing and Emery so far hasn't either.
I'm still stunned that we could find someone to replace Arsene who was as reluctant as him to see our most obvious weakness and address it.
It would seem to me to be by far the easiest way to make a huge difference at very little expense.

62 - agreed. Emery also asking for patience. I can’t believe we have such a small budget yet we are skirtchasing Zaha at 80m - buy some bloody defenders. He’s even come out to stress it’s important w attack. For 💩💩💩 sake, it’s important we learn that conceding 3 goals makes it hard. Not training the defence puts pressure on the team and means the opposition always think they can score.

Get training the team and get buying players to sort out our defence - I am sure Danny can be replaced by our youth.

So frustrating and unbelievable - how will the defence settle if we don’t have it yet.

Our disregard for the importance of defending and defending well as a team will once again be our undoing this season SY, City may spend but all their players rave about how they have improved as individuals under Pep and that doesn't come in their contracts that's achieved on the training field day after day with Pep and his players all working together and learning from and about each other as 197 points out of 228 shows very clearly.
Money can buy you players but it can't buy you a team or success that has to be achieved from heard work and training that the players both enjoy and believe will pay off on the pitch come match days.

I hear you Gunner, and I find myself avoiding work and scanning the rumour mill each day. I hope there is some movement in the next weeks. It has just crossed my mind that a specialist defensive coach would be as good as a signing! Wouldn't it be good to see Keown or Adams drilling the back four.?

Its so obvious that we need to sort out our defensive record before we even think about the attacking front. Yes we our strikers had a dry period during the season but our defence didn’t help by still conceding the same.
Now Emery came out and said we need to improve our defensive game so let's see how he plans to do so because from what I’ve seen in the preseason games its been absolutely the same tactics.

Absolutely lads, we've tried being so good going forward it makes up for us being rubbish at the back buy it's time now to realise in today's game more than ever before you need to be the complete package up top in the middle and very much at the back as all are vital to the end result.
With so much coverage and technology opposing teams teams know and work on your every weakness looking to expose them at every opportunity, if start working on own weakness our strengths will look after themselves.

G62, I agree with you. I like a good backside too.

Mate a gorgeous rear is a beautiful thing indeed, they come in all shapes and sizes but every now and then you catch a glimpse of perfection and they live long in the memory:-) .
A bit like the Barcelona team that made United look like Accrington Stanley in the champions league final 2009, difficult to forget but an extremely pleasant memory to be stuck with :-)

A backside that can be penetrated by anyone and at any given time and as often as they like with limited effort is not a position of strength.

24 Jul 2019 20:45:37
That's not a nice thought SY mate :- ( and definitely an image I will be trying to get rid of as quickly as possible, much like an Arsenal visit to Anfield, the less said the betrer me thinketh.
