Never thought I would read this from Charlie;

He reckons Wenger would help Unai Emery get some key transfers over the line by talking to prospective new players.

"Sometimes I like to throw one [an idea] in every now and then, like we all do, " Nicholas said on the Transfer Talk podcast.

"It's not just because I'm trying to be controversial but Arsene Wenger has been out of a job for a long time.

"Now, Arsenal tried to keep him as a director of football or on the hierarchy at because he can help guide us in case there was trouble that was going to be their for the club.

Never realised we wanted to move Wenger upstairs either. Certainly didn't expect to hear his name in terms of getting players signed.

Charlie makes a lot of ridiculous claims mate, I can't remember exactly what he said at one point last season but he claimed to have inside info on something extremely fanciful and far fetched that obviously never came to anything.
He does seem to have his very own take on reality sometimes.

There is a reason that Wenger is not managing a year after leaving Arseanl. I belive Emery had a decent first season considering the mess he inherited. He has integrated the 4 permanent signings into the team well. The next 3 weeks and signings will define our hopes for the forthcoming season. Bring in Tierney, Ceballos, Soares and CB, with Bellerin and Holding returning. We must retain and use Willock, Saka, Nelson, Nketiah, John-Jules, etc. The pace of Nelson, Saka and John-Jules is frightening.

{Ed001's Note - he is not managing because he turned down a number of offers to take some time off.}

A job reported was Fulham and my feelings are that Wenger wants the French national job, which won’t happen for a while due to the success in winning the World Cup. Alternatively I feel he would like to manage a top at a top European club, such as Bayern Munich. I am not sure at his age he wants to take on a rebuilding job. I would suggest the break was enforced by a lack of the right opportunity and his reason was the usual transparent Wengerism.
