The worrying thing about last season was the amount of goals we scored from midfield.

Apart from Ramsey we did nothing.

It's definitely an issue mate but the long standing issue is how easily we concede and how many chances we concede in every single game, this is nothing new for us but it has and continues to become a bigger and bigger problem year on year.
Without Leno making some really impressive saves last season we could easily have exceeded 70 goals against which is relegation stuff.
Lacasette and Pea extremely high strike rate per chance created at one end along with Leno long list of saves at the other tells it's own story of what's happening or not happening in between our strikes and goal keeper.
We finished 5th in a pretty low standard top 4 race with those 3 players being in top form imagine if 1 or 2 of Leno Pea or Lacasette had got long term injuries where we would have finished up?
We simlpy have to be better organised than we have been for a decade before we will see our decline turned around but so far each season continues to look just a little more disorganised that the one before it.

Clearly the defence requires surgery. In addition the 3 in Emery's favoured 4-2-3-1 was equally weak and needs rebuilding, as it offered as little defensively as it did offensively. Mkhitaryan and Ozil neeed to be moved on, if possible with their absurdly high wages, and replaced with better options.

I don't think it's simply a case of the personel we have, James Maddison joined Leicester last season and his reputation increased during his first premier league season, if he'd joined us and not Leicester would that be the case still? I'm not at all convinced it would be.
I'm not saying we shouldn't upgrade and improve our playing staff but I genuinely feel the end result won't be much different until we change how we go about things both behind the scenes and on the pitch.
Simply changing faces will make everyone feel happier in the short term but it won't be long before we and the pundits are all talking about the same old problems that we've talked about for years if we don't change the methods and philosophy that have failed us for so long now.
