Eds, how likely is it that we'll be able to offload Ozil? We know he's on a stupidly high salary which complicates things, but could it prove that much of a problem that we might have to get used to the idea of him staying put, and seriously damaging our potential to bring in new signings?

On a personal/ professional level, he comes across as decent and principled. you'd think knowing he's not wanted would be enough. £350k though 🤦🏼‍♂️.

{Ed001's Note - it is extremely unlikely he will be going anywhere.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Ed what if I give him a piggyback so they done have to pay for travel would that help?

{Ed001's Note - I am sure it won't hurt.}

16 Jun 2019 14:54:34
Maybe my back.

16 Jun 2019 15:55:40
That’s how the other players feel from carrying him too.

16 Jun 2019 18:39:22
Other players carrying him :-) the vast majority haven't proved they can carry themselves let alone anyone else in an Arsenal shirt yet.

{Ed047's Note - good point well made gunner62

16 Jun 2019 19:47:47
Here’s an idea, instead of everyone whining about him and using him as not only an excuse as to why we play poorly but now he’s the reason that we can’t spend money how about arsenal buy some players around him that can let him play his game. The guy is unreal maybe struggles with confidence (which is never helped by the constant bitching about him) but we have not had a player of his technical quality since bergkamp.

{Ed047's Note - Ozil’s best season for me was with Cazorla and Coquelin behind him but the club have yet to replace Cazorla and Xhaka isn’t fit to lace Cazorla’s boots.

16 Jun 2019 20:21:06
Could agree more Browgun - we’ve wasted that purchase which is a crying shame. That’s Wenger and now Emery that haven’t helped him but Emery hasn’t managed him well at all. Ed, you are so so right it’s painful that the managers haven’t seen or done something about it.

16 Jun 2019 21:18:01
Browngun, I don't think he’s good enough, loses the ball and goes missing in big games when we need big players, so do the rest of the team in fact, but most of the team team didn’t come with a world class tag around there neck and I’m sorry to say I don’t see that in him he’s an over priced player for me,

16 Jun 2019 21:38:07
Cheers Ed047 and totally agree on Caz and Le Coq comments and Xhaka too, how Arsene decided to allow Le Coq to make way for Xhaka is beyond me still.
Can it really be coincidence that since Xhaka and Mustafi arrived our decline has gone into warp speed.

16 Jun 2019 21:48:33
Emery seems to have already decided Ozil is not for him so any hopes of us accommodating Mesuts ability seem to be non existent so sadly it is time to part company if possible, what a waste though.
I remember the night we sign him on deadline day 2013, I was like a kid that asked for a push bike and got a Ferrari.

16 Jun 2019 22:16:51
Ramesy would have been better to play there or even jack wilsshire.

16 Jun 2019 23:10:26
The Ramsey argument had a bit of credibility because of how well he did for Wales in Euro 2016 Welsh but Jack? Which two games was you thinking of each season and of the 180 minutes he was available which 25 seconds was you thinking he would be on his feet without his hands on his hips looking at the ref to bail him out of his overrunning the ball!
Congratulations Welsh you've done it again, you've actually out worst post ever yourself :-)

16 Jun 2019 23:18:23
He’s more than good enough. I think that people think he’s a player that can win games on his own! If he was a goal scorer you could argue that but his game is in assisting and playing beautiful balls, the problem is he can’t pass to himself . He’s probably sick to death of the lack of movement or the fact that the players behind him constantly loose the ball or try and pump it upfield completely by passing him. If anything he should be more vocal and demand the ball and go and take it, most of the team is not at his level imo.

17 Jun 2019 07:17:54
I'm actually surprised he's stayed with us Sano, I think to some degree both Mesut and Kos have failed to achieve what they were capable of in the game by staying at Arsenal when both were good enough to play at a much higher level than the rest of our players have been throughout their Arsenal careers.
They obviously love Arsenal London or both.

17 Jun 2019 08:03:22
Gunner lol.

17 Jun 2019 10:50:28
Couldn't agree more re Kos G62, think he has been a brilliant player for us (and France) and i am sure would have been tapped up during his time with us, yet stayed out of loyalty. As for Ozil, he is a incredibly gifted player, and has been brilliant for us at times, but not over the past couple of seasons, and he just doesn't justify the wage bill we decided to give him. Accepting that wage is not his fault, who wouldn't accept it, but not living up to it is, and sadly for me, that is the reason he needs to go. Maybe is will find his mojo again, but i doubt it will be with us. As for the whole, he needs better players around him, ignoring the absolute goons behind him, he has played alongside two excellent forwards this year, and still that didn't seem enough for him.

17 Jun 2019 11:18:45
Harsh to blame a playmaker for not playing well when his manager doesn't seem to understand what the point of a playmaker is. As a general rule if your idea of attacking football is cutbacks from fullbacks your no. 10 is unlikely to flourish.

TBH I'm bored of this whole stupid drama. The club/ Emery have handled this awfully, the club gave him the contract last January, Emery's come in and tried to force him out and has failed miserably given Ozil thinks he'll last longer at Arsenal than the manager. Feel it's about time Emery made his peace with the fact that Ozil is at the club and actually tries to get the best out of him rather than trying to impose his non-existent philosophy on one of our best players. Surely we're at the point of making the best of this now, rather than trying to force him out of the club and causing whatever rifts/ uncertainty go with that for however long.?

(If you think I'm being harsh on Emery, see also: Aaron Ramsey and the evaporating contract) .

I totally agree Epping mate, Mesut was crazy to sign another contract with Arsenal career wise, he should have had it on his toes after his second season with with us as it was obvious we weren't ever going to be interested in using his talent to its full potential but instead try to get him change his game to accommodate those who just weren't capable of complementing his natural style.
Money wise he's done well sticking around but it's come at the cost of his status in world terms and how he will be remembered after he's retired.

Cheers Welsh mate, us Arsenal fans need a sense of humour mate ;-)

And we never did get you driving lessons 62 so you drove the Ferrari like a push bike which was pointless. if only we had taught you how to drive that lovely car you got it would have been a perfect gift ☹️.

17 Jun 2019 20:44:46
Couple of years ago you asked for diamonds 62 but ended up with Granit 😉

It’s a messed up world.

17 Jun 2019 21:47:19
You so right SY mate, with the wrong drive at the wheel the Ferrari is often made to look like a trade bike fully equipt with a whicker basket at the front.

I've got a nice granite work top at home which is extremely similar in mobility to Granit Xhaka SY mate but where there is no similarity at all is my work top doesn't have any problems keeping hold of things once it's got them :-)

I actually lied about my work top which is in reality made of chipboard with a formica covering but I just wanted to make my life sound more fun and on trend :- (.
