Anyone see the size of Cech? he'll scare a few forwards if he rushes out, makes Leno look a little lightweight.

leitrimgooner

1.) 20 Jul 2018 07:48:59
" nobody brings a man the size of that without trying to say something without talking "

2.) 20 Jul 2018 11:14:47
I have a feeling Emery and his backroom staff are in the process of changing over from the old methods used for way too long, to increasing the fitness and strength of the squad, I can't wait for the new season, although we have to be extremely patient whilst Emery imposes his methods upon the players and brings in new players to improve the squad.
This window we have made 5 signings and listening to Emery it seems that we may make one more singing, depending upon the outcome of the Ramsey negotiations. I presume we will sell/ release and loan out 6 or so players.
Emery will be able to assess the squad up till December to see which areas need improving. With a particular eye being kept on Mustafi and Monreal, who in my opinion could easily be upgraded.

3.) 20 Jul 2018 22:58:19
Cech didn’t put that on through Emery training - he’s built up over the break. Can’t credit Emery with everything.

4.) 21 Jul 2018 09:07:46
And why not SY?
Dicks first summer in England and it's the best summer Britain has had in over 40 years! Coincidence?
I think not mate.

5.) 21 Jul 2018 15:27:42
Surely they could afford to get him a bigger top! He must of had a nightmare trying to get out of that top! 😂 Like at school having a growth spurt and still having to fit into your old clothes, classic ancle bashing trousers! I'm going to have to watch snatch now g62!

6.) 21 Jul 2018 18:02:00
Me too Eden :-)
" don't worry about Tyrone, he can move when has to " :-)

7.) 21 Jul 2018 18:37:50
"D'ya like dags? " they both seem nice to me.

8.) 21 Jul 2018 19:35:19
" sure I like Dags "

" open him up "
"What do you mean, open him up!

It's not a tin of beans "

" do you know who I am?
" apart from a man who feeds people to pigs, no! "

9.) 21 Jul 2018 20:18:46
"I thought you said he was a getaway driver. What can he get away from? "

10.) 21 Jul 2018 21:02:17
" it was at a funny angle "

" it's not the same caravan "
" it's not the figun fight "

{Ed001's Note - course you are Tyrone.}

11.) 21 Jul 2018 21:31:50
"it was behind you! when you reverse, things come from behind! "

"don't let that dog slobber on my seats! "
"your seats tyrone? its a stolen car! "

12.) 21 Jul 2018 22:07:46
" all bets are off "
" I'm not buying that "
" well that's handy cus I ain't selling it "

" he's not Jewish he just tells people he's Jewish, he even tells his family thier Jewish! He thinks it good for business "
And in the diamond business, it is good for business "

Welcome aboard Ed001 mate:-)

{Ed001's Note - one of the best films ever made. Have you seen the Brick Vader video on the movies site?}

13.) 22 Jul 2018 08:21:18
No mate i haven't seen it but I will check it out.
Yeah snatch is a absolutely brilliant film, I read somewhere that Brad Pitt was supposed to only do a couple of scenes and be in set for just a couple of days but he enjoyed the atmosphere so much he stayed a month and Guy Richie had to right extra scenes for him, a very very good decision :-)

" we've lost gorgeous George Harry "
" how'd you manage that, he's hardly inconspicuous is he "

{Ed001's Note - Pitt actually begged to be in it because he loved Lock, Stock so much. Supposedly he did the film for free.}

14.) 22 Jul 2018 08:52:49
He played the part brilliantly too, it's hard to imagine how anyone else could have done it as well.
And if he he did it for free that makes it all the more impressive.

Someone putting fun and happiness before money? Wow that's brilliant and a trend the world could do with a lot more of that's for sure.

{Ed001's Note - it is not like he couldn't afford to do it mind. And obviously he is a good bloke, with him being a Liverpool fan....}

15.) 22 Jul 2018 10:11:53
Very true Ed :-)
Mind you he seems to have a good handle on the real value of money which of course is freedom to chose what you do rather than do what you have to in order to provide for those you love.
Many famous people lose sight of the real value of money and will drag their families around the world in pursuit of a few dollars more despite having more money than they could ever need in 5 life times already.
If you already have multiple millions in the bank you have the luxury of making what films you want rather than those which pay the most and the same with footballers why not play for the club you love for 100k a week rather than another club that means nothing to you for 200k a week?
The whole point of financial freedom is to use that that freedom to be as happy as possible and enjoy life as much as possible surely?

{Ed001's Note - I totally agree with you mate. Shame more don't.}

16.) 22 Jul 2018 10:14:18
"What are you doing here? "
"taking the dog for a walk"
"what's in the car?
"seats and a steering wheel"

"I'll bet you for it, if I win you buy me a caravan and the boys get a pair of them shoes! If you win. Ahh! I'll do the fight for free! "
"it was us that wanted a caravan mikey! "

17.) 22 Jul 2018 11:52:43
" if you just take the caravan back we will say no more about it "
" Why would I want that caravan? it's got no wheels "

" how long will those sausages be "
" 4 minutes Turkish "
" it was 4 minutes 4 minutes ago "

" what's that Vincent?
" it's a gun Sol "
" that's not a gun that's an anti aircraft missile "

{Ed001's Note - the fact you can come up with so many quotes from it really does tell a story about how good a film it was.}

18.) 22 Jul 2018 12:14:18
Could probably go on for days! 😂 Maybe time to stop

"are you saying I can't shoot? "
"no, I know you can't shoot. I'm saying that thing would do more damage if you fed it to him! "

Such a good cast too for a relatively low budget film the making of Stephen Graham and Jason statham no doubt.

19.) 22 Jul 2018 13:48:46
Fair shout Eden it probably is time to stop with snatch now mate.
You old enough to remember the long good friday:-) ?

" I've heard of sleeping partners but you pair are in a frigging coma " :-)

" I've sorted getting the body picked up without drawing attention Harold, thier going to pick it up in an ice cream van "
"Oh there's a lot of dignity in that ain't there, going out like a raspb ripple "

20.) 22 Jul 2018 14:18:57
im not! but i've looked it up and i will try and watch it over the next few days :)

21.) 22 Jul 2018 14:24:30
my first job i worked with this guy, who wasnt a hipster, he was like mid 40s, don't think you really get hipsters that age, but hipsterish, if something was popular he hated it, hated guy richie and quentin tarentino, not even sure he gave them a chance, just people like them? i don't like them! there's normally a good reason things are popular, they're bloody good!

22.) 22 Jul 2018 16:11:52
Absolutely mate, films like the Long good friday amd Mcvicar are probably really dated now but were classic British films back in the late 70s with brilliant scripts that included loads fantastic lines like

" Move and I'll blow your frigging head off "
" well in that case I won't be moving then will I "

23.) 22 Jul 2018 18:03:52
Your spot on there Ed001 mate, the fact we can all remember so much of it without watching for a few years now has to speak volumes about just how good it was.

{Ed001's Note - classic films stick in your head.}

Hi eds I see Arsenal are linked with Miralem Pjanić and Juve are supposedly sniffing round Ramsey any chance of a swap on the cards. Ramsey is a square peg in a round hole.

leitrimgooner

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 04 Jan 2017 21:50:21
Lets change the question. Ed is there any interest at all in pjanic and if there is, is there a latest?

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal has not spoken with Juventus about Pjanic.}

2.) 04 Jan 2017 21:59:04
Thank u ed. I know its late but is there a list of names we can have for this January? It can be really brief if u can't be bothered.

{Ed002's Note - You will be getting a Sharkopod by the end of the week.}

3.) 05 Jan 2017 12:19:58
Looking forward to it ed. been on the lookout! Just wondering what's on the podcast? Is it just transfer rumours?

{Ed002's Note - I do them jointly with my buddy #WonderDogSparky and they have a lot of the "now" hip-sounds of today - stuff you can do the Frug to on Saturday nights. The Chelsea one has just been completed and will soon be posted. Arsenal is next - a slim chance of it being completed later today - else in the morning.}

07 Jan 2015 12:21:28
Hi eds

With Pod gone, Sanogo and Campbell to follow is Wenger freeing up space in the forward line for Cavanni. The rumours just won't go away.

leitrimgooner

{Ed002's Note - I think you are reading far too much in to the situation with fringe players. The situation in Paris is a real mess over various players at the moment and the situation with Cavani is unchanged to what I have previously said.}

1.) 07 Jan 2015 14:30:28
I don't think for one moment we are seriously after Cavani, who would be too expensive to purchase & pay.
Striker-wise, believe Sanogo will go on loan, possibly Campbell as well. That still leaves us with Giroud, Welback, Akpom, Walcott & Sanchez. Attacking midfielders such as Ox & Gnabry provide other options.

28 Aug 2014 11:44:43
Hi Eds

Arsenal being linked with Virgil Van Diijk of Celtic any truth in this Celtic haven't qualified for the champions league and player himself wants to play at highest level. He would be a great signing seen him play a few times an absolute beast but can play a bit and a good passer so would suit arsenal down to the ground.

leitrimgooner

{Ed007's Note - As far as I know the story is nonsense.}

08 Aug 2013 11:57:06
Has Suarez's position become untenable at Liverpool if Arsenal don't get him and Real don't come in for him will he play again for Liverpool. Will their fans take him back or will he just rot training with the youths until January where there would be a few million knocked off his price {Ed029's Note - Suarez will be sold this summer. Another Ed has explained that there will likely be interest from other clubs as well.}

leitrimgooner

1.) I just don't get why we have left it so late again to strengthen the squad. It is great that we have shed a load of players, but we are woefuuly short of numbers, especially given the international games that need to be played during the season. As it stands we have no real quality back-up striker, centre half or goalkeeper and we are only too aware that our injury record is not great. I am sure that Wenger knows what he is doing but dithering could cost us dearly!

2.) He will be sold but no other suitors and this is a fact, no RM, its not going to happen. Its arsenal or bust

3.) I think it would be busy LFC will leave him in reverses to rot until nxt window either that or hoping to have him change his mind. I'm clutching at straws with this post.

4.) Mark my words we will miss out on Suarez and he will go to Madrid, Madrid realise they cannot get Bale and will end up with Suarez, Wenger will not pay the amounts Liverpool are asking, trust me.

5.) Lets be honest do any of us really expect this to happen, going on previous years it'll be a case of we tried but blah blah excuse blah blah

With Ivan Gazidis potentially off to Milan will Raul Sanllehi get the gig or could the board go a different route and appoint Arsene Wenger, has the economics degree knows the club would be a great ambassador.

leitrimgooner

1.) 31 Jul 2018 23:26:52
Arsene is a great ambassador of Arsenal football club no matter what.
That will never change.
The man loves the club and the club loves the man it was just time for change, and then some.

2.) 01 Aug 2018 07:16:28
Absolutely zero chance of Wenger returning to replace Gazidis, if he departs.

3.) 01 Aug 2018 10:24:53
Club ambassador is the absolute right position for Arsene and it should be always available to him when ever he wants to take it up.
Someone who represents Arsenal football clubs image without any responsibilies for the running of the club.
Arsene power and influence days at Arsenal are and should remain in the past but who better to represent us as a club world wide?

4.) 01 Aug 2018 10:57:10
Wenger for the board nah he would meddle too much tbh and I don't think he woud be keen on that much anyway he is football man and likes to get hands on with day to day coaching. I can see him either going back to Japan or China perhaps for a new challenge as coach, or bide his time for the French team manager position. He will always be a good global ambassador for Asrsenal regardless mind even without a offical position with us.

15 May 2018 21:28:18
You have to wonder about the arsenal hierarchy, They have just lost Wenger who hasn't really cared about the defensive side of things for about ten years.

If the Arteta rumours are true an offensive midfeilder in his day who was asked to play Dm for arsenal to mixed results at best, who has learned from Guardiola hardly known as a defensively minded coach and who spends very liberally.

Wenger to his credit (or the back room guys) have left the club with a very good attack but as week at the back as i can remember. With a limited transfer budget shouldn't arsenal be looking for someone with a bit more experiance with setting up a defence. Get the defence sorted and this team might suprise next year. Ancelotti would be the man until Viera or Arteta have proven themselves.

leitrimgooner

1.) 15 May 2018 21:38:59
You would like to think so. It seems logical to most.

11 Mar 2018 21:53:23
Just wanted to say great result but Richaralison is a disgrace as a professional. Do these players not watch the games back have they no pride in themselves. The media need to start calling out players who dive.

leitrimgooner

1.) 13 Mar 2018 01:13:42
If they start talking about diving they'll have to call out their beloved spurs.
Lovely dive from son this week, getting out of hand now.

10 Jan 2018 14:08:47
Im Very glad its starting to come in but does anyone get the feeling VAR is going to work against us in some sort of controversial way tonight.

leitrimgooner

1.) 10 Jan 2018 14:36:15
Well the idea of Var is to eliminate controversy so no in that respect. We could have for example penaltys that have been given against us that wasn't refused at our end. Not really getting that excited about it. Every team get the rub of the green evens out one way or another anyhow.

2.) 10 Jan 2018 14:37:36
Like, at 1-1 Hazard gets a second yellow for diving, = a red card, but upon review. A penalty is awarded, second yellow rescinded. Mustafi gets a red card for stopping a goal scoring opportunity, Hazard, recovers from his life threatening injury to score from the spot. Chelsea win 2-1.

3.) 10 Jan 2018 14:47:35
I don't think the VAR can overturn second yellows, only straight reds. Might be wrong though.

4.) 10 Jan 2018 16:59:17
It will only overturn total wrongs. Not iffy tight decisions.

5.) 10 Jan 2018 19:05:13
I've heard it will be used for 4 things.

1) Goals.
2) Penalties.
3) Red cards.
4) Mistaken Identity.

6.) 10 Jan 2018 19:40:21
you watch it say we gave a penalty away when ref didn't give it lol.

15 Nov 2017 22:25:09
Been watching Ireland through the qualifiers Shane Duffy has been excellent and for Brighton too. His head is like a magnet for the ball. Could he do a job for the gooners i think he would be a cracking signing.

Would it be all bad, Arsenal have been far to nice for far to long. A player like Fellani might help us to see out those away games that quite frankly arsenal were bullied of the park.

Why not Shane Duffy from Brighton for CB won't be to expensive. Has prem experience, great in the air, can organise a defence and is man of the match most days for the ROI team

For the wing has to be Under from Roma has the look of a young Ronaldo 7 about him.

Best of luck to him hope he goes on to have a good career. i Think he should go to Italy the slower pace to the game would suit him.

Is serri a dm i'm not convinced seems very similar to xhaka which is not a good thing to many pretty passing midfielders in the squad need a guy who will do the dirty work.
