TV5 to Barca in exchange for Song? Could it happen? Would we be happy with that?

g00ner83

{Ed025's Note - so what your saying is that thomas is going for a song mate.. :)

1.) No, No, No

2.) 06 Aug 2014 12:55:14
I really wouldn't. Typically some people just remember his good times. I remember he was a liability in from of our back 4

3.) I wouldn't take Song back. Had he stayed with us instead of getting his head turned he'd have matured into a class CDM - but now he should just move on from warming the Barca bench to sinking into it permanently. (No hate here as you can see)

{Ed025's Note - it does sound a bit..FROSTY though mate.. :)

4.) Ed 25. your on a comedy roll or wot m8?. clever though!

{Ed025's Note - i fear i may be turning into dags 1010 mate..

5.) I think i'd want 10 mil thank you.

6.) 06 Aug 2014 16:00:04
Ed0025 - you're GRRRREAT! ;-)

{Ed025's Note - love it tony..

7.) A fear we all have ed25 lol

{Ed025's Note - its the end of the world then mate..

8.) Were all doomed Mr Mannering, were all doomed

I didn’t expect the knives to be out quite so early for Wenger but he really doesn’t do himself any favours does he! He just seems a confused old man, I cannot understand some of his decisions;

Signs a £35M defender, who I think has done alright, and doesn’t play him (Mustafi) .
Plays one of our best players (Bellerin) out of position to accommodate a ‘contract rebel’ (Ox) to play in a position he hates*…. in doing so relegates another new signing (Kolasinac) who has looked excellent thus far to the bench.
*Continues to play players out of position creating tension and making contract negotiations tricky.
Persists with Ozil when it’s abundantly clear he is either not good enough or doesn’t want to be there.
Played a half fit Sanchez over our club record signing who has looked good in his first two games.
Who at 2 down switched to a back four but brought on a defensive midfielder – was this really going to improve us any!?

It’s three games in, we’ve lost two and already the season looks like damage limitation – dreading what lies ahead and I hate to think this way!

If everyone looked at all the things that are going on at this club with an unbiased view, it is horrifying.

Have you guys seen the 'experts' analysis and predictions for the season ahead? Nobody rates us as top 4 material let alone title challengers. What do the fans, realistically, expect this season - current squad considered?

g00ner83

1.) 07 Aug 2017 16:43:32
You could argue spurs and Liverpool over achieved and could easily name 15 points that we dropped and were out of character. We are easily in the mix for top 4 but still probably well short of the tittle.

2.) 07 Aug 2017 16:44:31
We do better when we are under no pressure so I think it's good that no one is expecting anything from us.

3.) 07 Aug 2017 16:48:11
Haven't seen it yet but I'm not surprised by what you say, last in the BBC pundits predictions none had us down as top 3 while only a handful thought we'd do our usual 4th place simply because we always did.
Can't see the top 4 not being Chelsea Utd City Spurs in one order or another but if one of them do slip up I think we will be snapping at thier heels with Liverpool and Everton.
My prediction is 5th based on I don't see how the side is much if any stronger and the mentality question mark that's been there for years won't have suddenly resolved it's self.
The mentality running through the club would still be a huge hurdle who ever we signed, something just isn't right off the field somewhere for things to always end so far away from the champions each season.

4.) 07 Aug 2017 16:57:18
Top 3 an absolute certainty.

5.) 07 Aug 2017 17:30:58
battle for 4th but it really should be time to challenge but as it stands yet again expections are low. just how the board like it.

6.) 07 Aug 2017 18:52:10
I think we will struggle for top four again. Spursday football and Sunday league is not going to help. We are not watertight and we have a spongy midfield. No change on the managerial front means just that.

7.) 07 Aug 2017 20:36:42
Bookies seem to think it's between City Chelsea Utd for the title and Spurs favorites for 4th with us and Liverpool just behind them.
It's tough to call the winner as no one knows how Chelsea players will respond this time round after thier awful title defence two seasons back, City under Pep I'm not sure about his premier league capabilities so my guess is United under Mourinho will pip City to the title simply because Jose always finds a way to win a title, he's never failed yet in his last 5 jobs and it's difficult to believe his record will end with united.

8.) 07 Aug 2017 21:01:15
Top 4 I reckon (4th Most likely) at present, although can obvs. change with the transfer window still open.

Spurs will struggle big time at Wembley, they are essentially playing all their games away this season, teams will love playing there and any home atmos. will be lost. They have a pretty poor record there. Added to that no new signings and having to deal with more games in the Champs league will strech their smaller squad. They will drop out of to 4 I reckon.

Liverpool have a dangerous attack with lost of speed and are always good on the counter but I don’t think their defence is good enough to mount a serious long term title challenge and losing Coutinho would be massive blow.

I think Arsenal as it stands are ahead of Spurs and Liverpool so yeah 4th most likely I reckon. I see Man City and Utd fighting for the Title. Chelsea don’t look on edge at the moment and Conte is not happy man. Matic was a big loss, but 3rd for them I think.

Yes if we keep Shanchez and Ox which looks more and more likely then yeah 4th for us. I think think Wenger will rotate a lot in the Europa league games especially early on and use it to bring fringe players like Nelson into the frame, until the later stages. Wenger is definitely focused on the league more this season.

9.) 07 Aug 2017 22:33:25
if liverpool ger van dijk its a huge step forward but let's see how window ends.

10.) 07 Aug 2017 23:28:59
If chelski or citeh get him it would be huge.

Arsene has signed a new contract but a number of our first team players have not. After his comments yesterday about letting players run out their contracts I wonder what the fans would rather, sell now for whatever cash we can get (even if to a rival) or let the players leave for nothing at the end of their contracts?

Either way AW will do wrong and have the masses against him again?

g00ner83

1.) 31 Jul 2017 14:12:59
Arsene always gets the fans backing when he needs it most, new contract time so I'm sure he ain't to fussed.

08 Jun 2017 13:06:41
Can’t understand how some are advocating the sale of Bellerin for ~£40M. He is a key element in our team and given his age/ contract length he has to be worth much, much more than £40M. I’ll be bloody furious if he’s sold for anything other than a world record fee (for a defender) .

g00ner83

1.) 08 Jun 2017 15:33:02
if he goes it will be around the world record fee mark for sure. which will be broken a few times sooner or later i'm sure.

I'm not saying Theo is the solution to all our problems but if you look at his performances, 37 appearances (29 starts + 8 Substitute) he has totalled 19 goals. This represents 0.51 goals per game. Sanchez meanwhile has achieved 0.58 goals per game based on 51 appearances and 30 goals.

I appreciate statistics like this don't paint the whole picture but I think it's important to realise there has to be a point where enough is enough. I think the money Sanchez (and Ozil) are holding out for is nothing short of greed and the club and the fans are being held to ransom. I genuinely believe money can be better spent than giving these two astronomical contracts.

g00ner83

1.) 01 Jun 2017 09:16:09
The problem is 83 what other reason can we offer them to stay?
They have options who can offer money and much more while we don't really have anything other than money to offer right now.
Personally I'd let them go on friendly terms and thank them for thier service and accept the situation for what it is.
Let the players go who don't want to be here plus those who simply haven't been able to deliver on a regular basis and start again with what's Lett.
Totenham didn't sign a host of star names they built a team around the best of what they had after losing Bale and Modric who were just as big as loss as Mesut and Sanchez, we shouldn't be to proud to learn from anyone else even Spurs imo.
In fact the similarity between us now and Spurs then is uncanny, no champions league football to offer and best players leaving, let's learn from where they went wrong and also from what Poch has got so right.

2.) 01 Jun 2017 10:58:15
we don't sell players for 100 mill, we will wait till the last week of the transfer window and sell one or both for the fee 70-80 mill. and sign some youngster who will be good in 2 years time fail to build a team around him and repeat that story again. we did not build around cesc and rvp now ozil and sanchez, I've seen groundhog day. good movie. just too repetetive.

3.) 01 Jun 2017 11:11:42
Agreed completely 62. I think when you have players like Ozil and Sanchez they demand the ball so when you have a coach as one dimensional as arsene and two players who you know are going to be getting the ball, it becomes very easy for opposing players. A better balanced team of players who want to be there and want to play for the shirt would be interesting! Ramsey or Ox at No10 would be worth a look.

Also can't help but feel Lucas Perez is worth another season, give him some game time. Every time he's played he's delivered!

4.) 01 Jun 2017 12:14:55
I never understood the Perez signing it looked and still does look like a desperation signing but having said that He's here now and the lad has done ok so I see no benefit in taking a loss on him without giving every chance first, imo the signing was our mistake not his so we owe him a chance.

Apparently; Paris St-Germain have agreed a £61m deal to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 27, after offering £168,000 a week in wages. only from the BBC so likely rubbish but there are players out there! If Ozil and Sanchez want to leave, let them leave. Neither are worth £350K a week!

I think it's all going to come out in the wash that Stan is not the ma and has created a huge division within the boardroom.

Nonsense. When has Wenger ever done anything due to fan pressure. He signed them because of a team need and tried to budget buy. Letting both go is a mistake, plenty others I'd release before them.

Agreed G62 - Wenger has had total control for to long. this just emphasises how much we need a director of football or certainly someone to take over the management of contracts and transfers.

I'm confused that you say we have to many strikers? The fans have been screaming for a new CF and now we have gotten one we have to many forwards? Between four competitions we need a good squad.

Defensively I think Chambers, Jenkinson and Debuchy all need to go.
