After thinking about it last night I came up with the answer wenger wants us to get out of the champions league as quickly as possible so he can play the reserves in the europa league and concentrate on the premiership

Yanman

{Ed025's Note - if that was the case yanman...what would be the point of the team playing their hearts out to finish 3rd last season?, i dont think any side sets out to lose any match mate..

We don't have any reserves, just our under 21s and first team squad. Though I do believe Europa league football would be best for Arsenal as they have half a chance of winning that and not a hope in hell of winning the champions league!

Look at it this way if your an arsenal front man/forward you have just been given a huge vote of confidence by the manager your confidence should be high and you should want to prove the boss was right, only time will tell

Agree Yanman.

Olly, Wally and Danny, step up.

2.) 02 Sep 2015 00:32:16
We have Giroud, Welback & Walcott, as well as Sanchez, who can all play up front. The sole poor result was home to West Ham and only Man City of the top clubs have had a much better start than us. We have Wilshere & Welback to add to the squad when fit.

3.) 02 Sep 2015 10:22:13
Last chance for welbeck n Walcott..we'll see how good they really are now..

4.) 02 Sep 2015 13:11:33
Im sorry but theo is far more dangerous coming off the wing than he will ever be up top on his own

i live in ireland and read this site on a regular basis, came home to london to visit my mum at the weekend. ran into an old friend who I used to go highbury with who was told by someone involved with the club that arsenal are to make one more big sighning I asked him if he knew and he said khadira, don't take this as gospel but I have no reason to doubt him as he is an orient fan and not one for making things up.

Yanman

1.) I am not a huge fan of Khedira and would much rather we broke the bank and signed Pogba & Vidal. We need to replace Arteta & Flamini.

2.) 02 Aug 2014 09:48:00
Pogba and Vidal? Well I'd like Messi and Ronaldo but it still isn't going to happen so no point wasting time discussing it. But going back to Khedira, he produced a display against Brazil that only a handful of midfielders in the world are capable of. If a deal can be done we should go for it, he is a class above Schneiderlin (although I have nothing against Schneiderlin).

3.) 02 Aug 2014 11:58:02
Have to agree with UG. That performance combined with the fact that he plays in La Liga for RM just makes him a bigger signing and bigger statement of intent.

For some reason Wenger likes iwobi and is to stubborn to admit he made a mistake on xhaka Wenger out has gone and apathy has set in until he is gone I love arsenal and will always watch get frustrated but I realize we are fu%ked and will probably turn into a top 6/ 7 team for a couple of years.

The squad needs a considerable overhaul. Some players are going out of contract, whilst others will have only a year or two left at the end of the season. Whilst others are simply not good enough.
The nucleous remaining are actually relatively few and I see the need for around 8 players in the next two windows. Ozil and Sanchez are likely to depart. Wilshere is also a free agent at the end of the season. Whilst I believe Ramsey, Walcott and Welback have short contracts, so need to sign or be sold. There may be others that have similar short deals. We also need to move on the likes of Ospina, Debuchy, Chambers and Monreal. Whilst Mertesacker retires. I am not a huge fan of Iwobi, who need to learn the defensive side of the game, as does Bellerin.
I do not believe Wenger has shown in recent seasons that he is capable of this type of squad overhaul and I believe he needs to go.

Lets not get our knickers in a twist, chambers is not a right back but for u21s he looked decent at cb holding I don't know. But listening to a bolton fan on talk sport they were gutted to lose him and he was their player of the season while only coming late. yes I would like a good experienced cb but for those of us old enough to remember tony Adams was 18 when he started so let's cut the boys some slack and only give out if they fail, you never know they could turn out to be what we have all been waiting for cbs that throw themselves in front of the ball instead of turning their backs, maybe we might be looking at the new bould and adams coyg.

The boy is only 18. It would be unfair on him to expect him to be our saviour. He is only learning the trade and I would not expect him to be able to cope with EPL, FA and UCL pressures in his first season with a bigger club. So he is good, but for us to get the best out of him, it is wise not to heap unneccessary pressure on the boy. Look what happened to Chambers. Young defenders are not to be pressured otherwise they will cave in and once their confidence is shot, it's very difficult to get them back on track.

2.) 08 Aug 2016 13:46:07
I actually think HOlding is a fantastic signing, but agree its not fair.

He has had 3 weeks with the team (why didn't we finalise in June) , and has zero premier league experience.

To put him against Origi / Coutinho / Sturridge / etc on his first outing hardly seems fair.

If it goes badly it will shatter his confidence and set him back for months / years.

3.) 08 Aug 2016 16:32:31
You can't say a player was a fantastic signing at that age, he's done nothing, we have no idea of how good he will be .
If I remember many people were raving about Chambers . we're still waiting .

Holding has potential that's as far as it goes, Theo and Ox had potential . say no more.

4.) 08 Aug 2016 16:47:45
Holding will be good enough.

He won't let us down against Liverpool.

I'm more worried about the regular's like Ozil, Sanchez and Ramsey.

5.) 08 Aug 2016 17:32:15
Ok Banbury so holding has done anything but found himself voted player of the season albeit bolton getting relegated, the young guy has shown promise, Just as a reminder when we first signed koscielny he was poor and has developed into one of the top centre halves in the league if not the best, the guys young he has potential at least give him a run of games before you all this premature ejac.

6.) 08 Aug 2016 17:42:53
Dags how can you say that?

He got caught three times in the first half against City, fot him to be of maximum value to us, he has to play . His he really first choice CB or will he play as much as Chsmbers?

7.) 08 Aug 2016 19:51:08
The strange think with Chambers is that he looked decent as a RB before we signed him, whilst I am not all convinced he will make it as a CB, at the top level. Holding looks to be an exceptional prospect, with a year or two to build him up physically, he appears to have all the attributes to reach the top. Bielik also looks very promising for such a young player. The problem is we need he finished article now.

Never been a wenger out man but if we had bought a top quality striker we would be 10 points. Clear maybe its time for a change.

we were poor again at the back kos had a shocker you have to think mustafi or pap would have been tighter to ingsfo both goals the young french kid in midfield was poor and xhaka in defence was wasted we missed him in the middle.

Lets stop the bull about money today we were beaten by a team that is well coached plays a passing game (which we used to) and defends as a team. defenders who head the ball instead of being pushed around by one of the smallest players on the pitch. our team try and pass to another player while he is surrounded by blue shirts and give up when the going got tough. i knew we would be beaten but it would have been nice to see some fight. we have one of the best defenders we ever had next to wenger does he have a say i think not. the manager sets up the team the buck stops with him. i think the team has stopped playing for him because his methods are in the past. we will not progress until something new is tried and i'm afraid it won't be while wenger is boss.
