As usual AFC will not be giving us fans many clues about their targets so all we have to go on is media speculation and our own ideas about who we would love to see in charge. and who we couldn't bare the thought of.

I had to do a search to find out who he was but Ed002's wildcard Lucien Favre seemed to me to be a pretty good fit to what we could do with right now.

I do wonder if the Ed mentioned him just because he felt that Lucien Favre would be the right man or if Arsenal do actually have him on their list of possibles.

{Ed002's Note - He is a light year or so ahead of Luis Enrique but there are those at the club concerned that Arsenal may be stupid enought to take the soft option. I hope not Terry.}

If Enriques wage demands are true I would be amazed if they chose him, that doesn't really seem like the safe option, if things don't work out and they have to sack him the compensation will be massive and may also make them stick with him longer than they should because they don't want to pay out the compensation.

Enrique is poor. I don’t know about what he did at celta vigo but he was terrible at roma i remember them finishing seventh and roma then was a strong team. Of all the candidates suggested IMO him and brendan rodgers are the worst. Any other choice wouldn’t be bad.

I must admit, i like what i read about this guy. Maybe he could bring J M Seri along with him? haha.

What i remember about favre is that during his time at bundesliga, he was guardiola’s achilles heel. If my memory serves me right he beat him twice. I remember one game where bayern lost 3-1 to monchenglabach (not sure about the spelling) . Bayern had a high line in that game and monchenglabach just played balls over the top like crazy with some leading to three goals. Took notice of him that game to be sincere. He is decent but he is 60.Doubt Arsenal will go for an old manager and he has also never managed a really big club. If we are to go for an older manager, I’d like us to go for sarri. He builds exiciting teams plus it would be hilarious seeing sarri show the middle finger to spurs fans :-)

Enrique, Allegri, Ancelotti, Arteta, Vieira, Rodgers, Emery, Favre, Jardim

The Bookmakers haven't got a clue yet, as you could back all of those with different firms to get the best prices and make a profit as long as one of them got the job :)

In fact the odds vary so much you could add a few more to the list too!

Ancelotti for me.

2.) 27 Apr 2018 22:47:45
Ancelotti has nothing to lose by taking the job as he doesn't currently have one, Emery is soon to be out of work also, I'm not saying that should rule them out but it would be nice to see someone who actually already has a good job give it up because they fancied the Arsenal job more.

3.) 27 Apr 2018 23:45:44
Watch for the plot twist, it'll be Gerrard. Lol.

4.) 27 Apr 2018 23:50:05
Ancelotti was 25/ 1 with sky a couple days ago, don't know why such long odds. I think he's one of the better candidates to steady the ship for a few years.

5.) 27 Apr 2018 23:58:09
He's slimed to 12/1 now, but tuchel is 16/1 and I thought he was almost certain to go to PSG, The sky bet odds change dramatically all the time, can't read anything into them.

{Ed033's Note - Slime is an appropriate word to associate with Sky Bet.

Gerrard / Lampard partnership :-)
It will work if we stick at it long enough.

Just to give a couple of examples from the list i posted and using a broad selection of bookmakers

Enrique price ranges from 6/ 4 to 4/ 1
Allegri price ranges from 5/ 2 to 10/ 1

As soon as something leaks out from Arsenal there will be unity in the betting markets and the differences will be negligible. I used to make a living from price anomalies from bookmakers but they consider that sort of behaviour 'very naughty' and stop taking bets.

My point really is i am watching the markets for a clue as to how i excited i am going to be by the shortlist when it is known.

Simeone is my pick but I feel Its allegri. Which I don't mind.

Most of the players would shine in RG's team as selected as it gives us that extra player on the pitch compared to the rest of the teams in the league.

I admire your confidence G62 that we will end up in the Europa league.

It seems likely that the minimum requirement for the next manager will be to get us back into the Europa league!

My choice at the time, given that some of the names touted were not realistically available was Lucien Favre and ed002 did flag him up as a possiblity.

Over that same time span IF he been appointed here and IF he matched it the whole tone of this site would be far more united and positive.

I found it hard to say Wenger Out because of the first ten years but saying Emery out is pretty easy as i can't find anything positive about his influence or even see that he has any kind of plan.

Players over 30 have already peaked and tend to start picking up injuries more frequently. look at the ones we already have. Nacho 32, Lichsteiner 35, Kos 33, Sokratis 30, Mkhi 30,Ozil 30.

Our problem seems to be more that we lack quality in the players we have who are around the age where they are at their best and should form the core of the team with a sprinkling of the younger players who are still developing and a couple of older wiser heads.

Pick your core from Jenkinson, Elneny, Mustafi, Kola, Xhaka, Laca, Welbeck, Ramsey (leaving) , Suarez and Auba.

On the bright side we have a good group of younger players that are still developing and have potential to improve both in regards to their footballing ability and also strength wise.

The likes of Bellerin, Torreira, Guendozi, Iwobi, Holding, Maitland Niles, Mavropanos and Chambers could well give us a much stronger core to the team in 4-5 years time.

Or that's the way I see it anyway.
