Hi Eds

I was wondering if anyone had any insights into arsenal's manager next season. If Emery hits his targets (presumably top 4?) will the club offer him the one year contract extension?
If not, is there any known info of any potential replacements that they are considering?

In my minds eye I see arsenal's appointment being more of a 'youthful' long term coach after Emery has steadied the proverbial ship but I've been very wrong about a great deal of things before.

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal has no agreement for a new coach at this time but given the financial gamble they have taken they need UE to deliver, else a rethink may be necessary.}

France if they don't do well and Deschamps is let go is my guess.

I’m very torn by the whole situation. I believe that zaha would be great at arsenal but also signing him would be arsenal immediately returning to the short term thinking that has plagued the club recently, which has left us in the situation we are in now. Signing zaha for upwards of 60m when he would have little sell on value after us goes completely against the new philosophy that the club is attempting to change too. Unless he gets us into the champions league.

However I believe in order for us to make the jump to the champions league we need to focus entirely on the defence. Improving that area of our squad will gain us much more points over a season than a goal scoring winger will do. Better spend 60m on defence if we have that much in our ‘war chest’.

It’s about time that arsenal stopped being cowards and made Bellerin my captain.

I wouldn't believe all the media discourse against vegans and protein. You are perfectly capable of getting all the nutrients you need through non animal products. I'm also sure that Wenger, who revolutionised the english game with his attitudes to diet and recovery etc, would not allow someone in his elite squad to consume a diet that would compromise their performance.

We have to win because our rivals all won. City dropping points is basically irrelevant because there is no way we’re going to even come close to city’s points total come May.

I’m not sure that we can pass judgement on Emery yet. All the signings last summer were made before he was appointed and in January he was told he can only loan players. You can expect him to unpick an old regime without being backed to implement his style with his type of players. Also 2 of the 3 senior people behind him when he was appointed have since left the club. It’s hardly a solid foundation for him to start on. I wouldn’t be surprised if Emery himself was disappointed with the way the club has conducted itself since he joined. It’s been an absolute shambles.

Admittedly I’m a bit disappointed in the way the team are playing but lots of injuries must be considered a factor, but not an outright excuse.

I don’t think he’s done himself any favours with the perceived way he’s handled Ozil. Refusing to put him in the squad even when our creativity has completely dried up seems unreasonable in my eyes. Again there may be more going on behind the scenes but that is the impression I have, given with how the situation has presented itself to the public.

I don’t think he is faultless but think that Emery has to be given leeway for this season with all that’s gone on around him. Start of the next season he can be held properly to account from day 1.

Just my two cents, plus hi I’m new to the forum!
