Big players turn up for big matches. We don't have! This is why we lose so many of them and will continue to do so.

Defensively we are so poor, we just have no organisation. Gibbs bombs forward at every opportunity yet offers nothing in attack and leaves us so exposed. We have no control in midfield and play this kamakazie football and teams just expose. No tactical awareness, all utd did was left rooney, rvp and di maria up front and yet there were times in the match where we was getting out numbered in our own half. Did we really need to send the whole team forward when we was dominated against a team who were struggling defensively.

Sad thing about it was that it was so predictable. How can a manager of his experience make such errors? This isn't a rant for the utd defeat. Its more for the whole season. We concede the same goals over and over again.

Againt everton we concede from a cross and counter attack. Against Leicester we concede from a cross. Against city we concede from 2 crosses. Againsts hull one goal was from a cross. Anderlecht away we conceded from a cross. Anderlecht at home we concede from 3 crosses. Swansea we concede from counter attack and a cross. Today we concede from a cross and a counter attack. Can wenger not see this? If we stop crosses and don't bombard forward at every opportunity we won't concede as much. Nothing will change and we probably get concede from a cross against dortmund!

1.) Completely agree with you.
Always been a wenger fan but last night I'm starting to turn the other wAy.

Saying in the summer there was monday available for centre back and midfield. Just break the bank for god sake you have to over pay to get top class players

I just feel sorry for sanchez went from playing Messi and that to now playing with crap.

And people that slag off Özil need a look at them self that guy might not have the work rate but yet creates so much for us.

Ive been away and have missed the last two games and can't really comment on them, but comming on here it feels like people think we are useless and have no hope.

Everytime we lose we get written off, but the reality is we are going to lose matches and we can't be expected to win every match. Both defeats have had sending offs, and it did affect the results. didn't see the Giroud sending off but Mike Dean was awful in that game and it cost us the match. The score was still 0-0 when it happend and we shouldve gone one man up at half time. Maybe i'm still in holiday mode but i'm writing the game off as a one off and saying it was the ref fault.

There talk about progression on here, this time last season we had a keeper who was about to go AWOL, one CB who was really out of form. A 19 yr old a right back who had no experience, Monreal at CB. Relying on Arteta and Flamini. Our team was broken last year and we are in way better shape this time round. Man city has had a incredible start to the season yet the gap is only 5 points. I don't think we will win the leauge, but its not all doom and gloom. We are in the most competive leauge in the world and we can't be expected to win every single game. The teams around us are not running away with it.

Decent post Noodles but the problems we had last season with 1 CB and no DM were as with this season with no one to finish off the chances ww create self inflicted due negligence on Arsene's behalf.
Last season if we'd brought cover in for the already injured Kos during the window and bought a real DM who knows where we might have finished and now we have as you rightly say the brilliant Cech Le Coq and Gabriel we lack a proven top notch finisher, the reason for the doom and gloom isn't the last too results its yet again the realisation of every pundit and many fans fears for us before the season kicked off.
Arsene just won't do what so obviously needs to be done each and every season and that youve got to admit is pretty gloomy to have to accept.

2.) 21 Sep 2015 14:07:20
With only 6 games gone , i don't think we will win the league is not what we should be saying. But the reasons behind why we are saying it are because yet again we are failing to address issues that are there, like not buing two or three players in positions that are and were so obvious and we have money, so no excuse there. Our defensive frailties are back again, we get the same old noises coming out of wengers mouth, blaming every thing, man dog and woman, except himself. We can all see where this season is heading, some of us may be over pessimistic and some of us may be over optimistic, but we all know where it is heading.

3.) 21 Sep 2015 15:02:24
But some of us are brave enough to say it and aren't blind to the facts Steve...............bit of a deifference .

4.) 21 Sep 2015 18:40:21
Agreed Steve. Truth hurts and some people hate to hear it

5.) 21 Sep 2015 19:10:19
I doubt we will win the league because we needed the striker - but who knows - too early to call for me, people are very critical on here but to be honest I think it's a cultural thing. At the moment we aren't playing well which is the most disheartening thing. People love to slate Wenger but I've yet to hear a replacement I'd want.

Mourinho? Rather come 4th and put pins in my eyes.
Van Gaal - I think he is average
Rogers - laughable
Pellegrini? Mancini? Klopp? Guardiola or Simone for me are the only two with klopp a near off third. It's hit or miss though

DIEGO SIMEONE FOR ME baggins. the guys a winner

Wenger is an experinced manager, but the way he deals with the transfer market is shocking. A club like Arsenal shouldn't be looking for transfers in the last hours of the window.

I get it when he says he is looking to buy exceptional talent but why wait so long to get in transfers.

If he wanted Benzema then he shouldve bidded in July if they reject the bid then move on and look to bring someone else in. It seems to me he's willing to wait for his plan A and he doesn't care if he misses out on other targets. i'm pretty sure that Benzema wasnt the only CF on his list but when he couldn't get him all his other targets have moved on. Now we are looking at the bottom of the barrel and hoping we find something.

This window has been the most depressing in years. We have a good squad and we can go out there and take some risks in the transfer market. We don't have any glaring holes in our squad, we just need 1 or 2 players to compliment the players we already have.

The most annoying thing about being an Arsenal fan is we see this fantastic club with lots of potential. But that potential needs to be unlocked. Just always feel we are the nearly men. If Arsenal was a football player it would be Theo Walcott. Brilliant on thier day but something is just missing.

After we sold Kolo for me it felt like an end of era. The last of the Invinsible was gone and i remember thinking will we ever reach the top again. The years that have followed since has been painful. And we keep making the same mistakes over and over again. The Invinsibles was a one off and now we are the nearly men.

The le coq argument has started up again and have no idea why. When he came into the starting 11 our team was broken. We looked lost and it seemed we went 5 years backwards and wenger was under immense pressure.

Suddenly our team was transformed, from getting embarrassed by Southampton we became chelsea nearest rival. I'm not saying it was all down to le coq but he played a huge role from us being in 6th to us having a decent season.

We been crying out for a dmf for years but when we finally get one he needs replacing. This page has been dominated on how we need to sign scherdelin even though we are really short in other areas.

Our cf had to been subbed in a champion league game to be protected because he was having a stinker. Giroud also went 11 games without a goal yet le coq seems to be our weakest link. This is not a pop at giroud because I think he is an important squad player but compared to other European teams we are well short up front. Anyone who thinks walcott is the answer to our cf problems has forgotten the last 8 year where he hasn't ever looked close to being a top cf. 2 good games doesn't make you top draw.

I agree if there are players better than the ones we have now and in our financial reach we should try to sign them. But is schiderlin really better than le coq? There is a massive difference playing for arsenal along side santi and ozil compared to wanyama and davis. Southampton are extremely well drilled organised team and your job as dmf is so much easier when playing alongside 2 hard working players. Le coq doesn't even have that insurance and has been a revelation, our most consistent player and one of the finds of the season. Yes he needs support but we need strengthening in other areas and dmf is probably the least of our worries at the moment.

I know Noodles :-) years and years without a DM which we so desperately needed and after just 5 months of unrivaled form people are bored by him because he didn't cost anything and want a brand new shiny £30 million DM to show off.
Back up for Le Coq we should be looking to spend under £10 million not over £30 million on back up players but even then we need to make room we can't just keep signing MF players like autographs.

05 Jun 2015 00:13:29
Not sure if this was mentioned before but Le Coq has made more interceptions and successful tackles then every single dmf in premier league since the start of the year. Players include Matic, schinerlin and wanyama. Also has won more aerial duals then Matic.

Lucky to have you Le Coq

Noodles

1.) 05 Jun 2015 00:58:56
Are you his agent?

2.) 05 Jun 2015 07:25:30
Le Coq 2015 was second to know one in terms of excellence including Sanchez.

3.) 05 Jun 2015 07:30:30
Couldn't agree more noodles, if you actually watch him, where he moves, what he covers, how he organises and that he makes it all look pretty simple.

It's just his name that isn't flash enough. I'm not sure what people expect after 5 months in a role.

Chelsea actually flogged Matic then had to buy him back again.

No one is yet to proclaim Coquelin as world class but he has done a hellava job for us exactly where we needed it.

Maybe Bellerin isn't really that good either. ;-)

4.) 05 Jun 2015 10:42:20
As Wenger said, "People discount Coquelin because he didn't cost £40m".

I've been calling for the signing of Schneiderlin all season.
If we don't sign him, Coq's form will soften the blow for me.

His biggest plus is his discipline.
He doesn't get forward but patrols left and right, covering the back four and the gap in between defence and midfield.

He's a top boy.

5.) 05 Jun 2015 12:45:52
I think all arsenal fans ( me included ) have whole heartedly become part of the ethos that wenger has brought to the club where we stick by players and have stability and continuity. I'm all for this and that way saw us reap rewards until... Abramhovic and the wealthy sheik's at City whos whole way of thinking and cold cut approach to winning! If you look at matic fo example we all knew he was good but at the time chelsea didn't quite fancy him then he came back and was the finished article. And I do think le coq is great and will be come amazing I'm not dissing him at all but when wenger said they never paid 50 mil for him and that's why people might question him but the fact is he isn't worth 50million ..... Yet. Bellerin has shown enough to not need replacing we bought debuchy and bellerin took his chance and its his position now. You have too look at the side that won the league the past two years. Would you leave out matic and yaya for le coq? Not a sniff no way. Our club is the best run club in the league and we should show loyalty but we need to find a halfway house now we can afford it. But let's face it the difference between our club and city or chelski is that when we win things it's real well earned and honest and it will feel far better than the hollow victories of the synthetic clubs of city and chelsea

6.) 05 Jun 2015 14:01:10
I think you can use stats to back up anything. Comparing Le Coq's stats versus those other DM's but only for 2015 is pointless IMO, as they all played a full season in the Prem rather than half either on the sidelines or in the championship. let's see how Le Coq fairs against them after a full season in the premiership. However, that's not saying that I don't highly rate what i have seen of Le Coq, and here's hoping he does continue his fine form next season....

7.) 05 Jun 2015 15:26:44
Sanchez Kos and Carzola in his first season apart who of our players have ever had a complete fantastic season?
Le Coq may have only had half a season but during it he was very very consistently excellent, many of our players have been in and around the first team for many years now and would snatch your hand off to have a 5 months of consistently performing at the same level as Le Coq already has under his belt.
He's the real deal people and saved us a fortune not to mentioned sparing
us from another 4th place trophy.

8.) 05 Jun 2015 17:05:22
Couldn't agree more Gunner62. still remember the game against Man City when arsenal lost possession in our own half just before half time and Le Coq had to mop up and went mental at the players. For a player who Arsenal career to be over who only just got into the team to have a go at players like Cazorla, ramsey and sanchez takes some balls. The game when he was concussed, had a broken nose and blood pouring down his face. Some players would of wanted to get subbed. But he soldiered on. Surely he is the player we have been looking for years?

Kos and drogba has proved you don't have have to be an amazing youngster to be world class. We have a hell of player in our hands why try to ruin it.

Yes we should always try to improve the squad, but is schiderlin and wanyama really a upgrade. We are not talking about mascherano here. They have had good season at southampton but le coq has had a very good season at Arsenal. There is a huge difference on having a good season at southampton and having a good season at Arsenal. If they were bringing top level experience, winning mentality or unbelievable leadership skills like Mascherano then i will say sign them up. But they not, they are very good players but surely 25m is too much money for a player who will be back up to Le coq? Especially when we really need a CF?

9.) 05 Jun 2015 18:24:36
100% Noodle's mate, i wish replacing Le coq was our biggest need I really do because the day he's our weakest link we will be Premier league, Champions league, both domestic cups and world club champions league that season.
But unfortunately for us there are many who need upgrading before we have the luxury of worrying about bettering Le Coq

05 May 2015 22:24:37
Spyder seems to be on everyone wish list. But if I had choice of a Southampton midfielder then ill go with Wanyama.

Le coq has been magnificent since he came into the team and he should be our first pick next season. He doesn't deserve to be dropped. Spyder is a fantastic player but extremely similar to Le coq. Wanyama has better distribution and is so much more powerful. For me we need someone to play alongside Le Coq and cover him if he's unavailable. Don't think Spyder and le Coq will be effective.

Watching Cazorla form this year in that deeper position along side Le Coq show how important it is to have someone in that anchor position but also shows how important it is to have someone in midfield to be able to pass out.

For me Le Coq and Wanyama is the combination I want to see next year. Thoughts?

Noodles

{Ed001's Note - are you being serious? You think Schneiderlin is more like Coquelin than Wanyama? And that Wanyama has better distribution? Wanyama's weakness is his distribution and he is the one who is like Coquelin, while Schneiderlin is not a defensive midfielder, more of an all round midfielder.}

1.) 05 May 2015 23:28:07
Thoughts? I agree with es whole heartedly

2.) 06 May 2015 08:45:34
Would take Schneiderlin over Wanyama any day.

Wanyama is more of an enforcer, very good at it, but Schneiderlin's game is better all round.

3.) 06 May 2015 10:07:39
Our midfield is generally great, all we need is an enforcer Dags and even then we have Coq now. I really don't know who I'd prefer to be fair.

4.) 06 May 2015 14:18:20
I would go for Spyder of the two mentioned.
But as an left field option Van Dyke of Celtic, I've watched a lot of their ggames and i know he plays centre back for them but the boy could play anywhere, his vision and distribution are superb.
And the added bonus he can slot in at the back when we have our annual centre back injury crisis!

5.) 06 May 2015 14:27:20
Just don't get this whole Wanyama is as good as Schneiderling debate, he's not in the same league. As a clue just look at Southamptons results when Schneiderling has been out injured. Wanyama looks good when sat next to Schneiderling, who has more pace and vision and looks completely lost when Schneiderling is out of the team. The few games i have watched Southampton play on TV this year, Wanyama has looked completely out of his class when up against fast nimble midfielders, such as Silva. If we sign another midfielder, he has to be a player that will improve us, and i only see Schneiderling being that player.

6.) 06 May 2015 21:34:09
Perfect,

Totally agree.

After the Monaco game i really thought we learnt our lesson. We lost again because a lack of respect.

Apart from Sanchez we had no fight no intensity. can't believe we didn't even press them. We just thought we turn up and we will win. Your right g62 this is really worrying.

The 3rd goal was so shocking, even worse then the 2nd one. We conceded because we thought we would go on and win the game. We were just so arrogant. How can a player have the whole box to himself right after kick off. Where the hell was the midfield? Same mistake over and over again.

Was so happy when we got Bayern, thought maybe we can compete with them. Now i'm totally crapping my self. We probably end up with 0 points after 4 games.

I have the upmost respect for Wenger but we have stagnated. Under his leadership we will never be a force.

Giroud pace isn't the problem. Giroud always has chances in game even when he comes on as a sub. The biggest problem Giroud has once he misses a chance it affects his other chances.

If he sticks away every guilt edge and about 1/3 of his half chance he can easily be one of the top scorers in the leauge. If he misses one he will miss the second and the third. His lack of pace doesn't worry me its his mentality.

No i think Steve wants to sell Ozil and buy Fellani instead. He is a player that run around, wins headers makes tackles and put his elbow in people face.

The reason why Sanchez doesn't get picked on is because he scores goals. Giroud and Welbeck give it they all but they still get critizied. Simply because they don't stick the ball in the net.

Ozil biggest flaw is that he doesn't score enough goals. If he starts scoring 20 goals per season or starts scoring in big matches no one will be talking about his work rate.

He played for Germany in the world cup as a left winger. Played for Mourinho for 3 years. he's work rate is not as bad as people think.

For me i will always judge ozil on his influence on games. Chances created, goals scored and key passes. he's not a defensive mid, he wasnt signed to make tackles or track back. Otherwise we might aswell sign Dirk Kuyt because he will do the job really well.

He played under for Mourinho for 3 years, if he was that bad in terms of work rate then he wouldve shipped out a long time ago. Just look at Kaka, Mata and De bruyne.

I find Ozil really fustrating sometimes, i always feel there more to come from him. But if you watch his game closely he always does demand the ball and always does try to make things happend. Even during his bad spell in his first season he was still looking for the ball. He does care and does try to make things happend and the Arsenal players do trust him.

He is never going to put an unbelieavble shift it and he is never going to win sky sports over. Looks like fabregas is on thier hit list now and how he doesn't work hard enough and chelsea are suffering because of it. But you have to remember he went from playing with Benzema and Ronaldo to Giroud and Walcott.

For me if Ozil performance should get critizied it should always be for his lack of productivity and not his work rate. Strikers are judged on goal and CAM should be on productivity. Otherwise welbeck is the best CF in the world because he does work his socks off.

Glad we got our swagger back. It took us till January last year to play like that. When we in form we tend to go on a really long run. If we can get Giroud to start banging them in and with Sanchez yet to hit form i think we can push City all the way!
