We used to play the best football in the premier league, we used to dominate matches and lose, we used yo say we need to win ugly and get lucky.
Now we won the ugly way and no we weren’t too lucky, maybe with the second goal yes but not else, we have a keeper to make saves and he did he job perfectly and that's no luck in my opinion, because we we concede we don’t say oh that’s unlucky we say the goalie is rubbish.
Another win and another 3 points which all what matter now for us. As we are changing the identity of our game and the mindset of most of our players.

And the mindset of our player which it will take time. So what matter now is to win and look to improve our game.

Spot on Moe G, I noticed that we are winning despite not playing particularly well, which is a positive sign. I can't recall the last time we won 5 matches in a row and 2 consecutive away matches. I do wish the supporters who have tickets turned up. I have had season tickets for many years and my seats are never empty. On the odd occasions when I am unable to attend I give the seats to family or friends. If we can keep beating the teams outside the top 6, then a top four finish is possible, With Koscileny, Maitland-Niles and Kolasinac returning over the next couple of months the squad is looking strong and with a couple of signings and departure during the next window, this could be an interesting season. We cearly need a wide player that can attack and defend. In addition a midfield player that could play in the attacking 3, who can defend as well as attack. Playing as we did yesterday with Ozil, Ramsey and Aubameyang left us exposed at the back and the only the combination of excellent performances from Cech and Torreira and Everton's poor attack ensured a clean sheet and a win. Against better teams we won't get away with it, as was seen against Man C and Chelsea.

2.) 24 Sep 2018 08:03:28
Brilliant post Moe mate.

3.) 24 Sep 2018 12:16:54
We are just playing ugly, win lose or draw.

4.) 24 Sep 2018 17:15:27
Steve, maybe you are right, but as you know we don’t have the squad to play beautiful, we are in transition at the moment unlike Chelsea they have a great squad but they are far better than us. Yes we want to enjoy our team playing awesomely but at the moment I care for wins and points. And in the next few Transfer windows we can buy better and get rid of the players like xhaka.

5.) 24 Sep 2018 18:52:46
Chelsea were runaway champions 2 seasons ago so they only needed a slight change of direction to get them back on track while we haven't challenged for 14 years so obviously it's a major rebuilding job with us.
Anyone hoping for beautiful football and a title challenge to boot this season is only fooling themselves.
We've not been competive for years and our footballing attractiveness has been in dramatic decline for the last 3 or 4 years too.

6.) 24 Sep 2018 22:03:51
Agree to a great extent, winning matches when you aren't in control is an art but (and i think we have the players) we have to look more solid first before we can look good second. We will only get away with not defending or a while.

7.) 25 Sep 2018 14:02:18
Agree with that Steve someone somewhere will take thier chances and have a field day with our defence and when they do it be all be about how we respond to it.
A cpuple seasons back when Mustafi first joined us teams like Swansea Sunderland as well as PSG were coming to the emirates and making chance after chance but failing to take them, we were flying high in the league but only because of others awful finishing, them came our visit to Goodison where Everton tore us apart and we never ever recovered our defensive good fortune under Arsene.
When we meet a team who bring thier shooting boots with them Dick needs to manage the teams mentality better by not letting it get to the players as unfortunately Arsene did.

8.) 25 Sep 2018 16:43:48
Agree, every team has lucky wins, citeh did last season but the fewer lucky wins you need/ get or have to rely on, means you are a better team and will finish with more success ultimately. The more you have to rely on luck to get results, the more you will suffer. The base has to be there.

9.) 26 Sep 2018 17:13:41
Liverpool is one of those teams we don’t want to play lol.

Comparing our remaining fixtures with chelsea and man u for the 4th place.
man u still have to play us, city, chelsea and Liverpool.
While chelsea still have to play city, untied Liverpool and Tottenham and
us only have to play united and Tottenham.
Points will definitely be lost so we might have a big chance if we manage to make the most of beating the lesser teams no disrespect to any team but with a bit of ambition and organisation I think we might be able to push through.
I know it doesn’t work that way but its Very doable.

Moe, there is a lot of twists and turns yet. In my book no one is favourite for fourth. For us first thing to do is have a good February.

2.) 08 Feb 2019 15:12:13
TBH - I don’t really care. I want to see the end product in the season after next. If that’s 8th but we do what’s required - I don’t care. It was always a long game but requires baby step of improvement each window. The last Window was pretty awful for one reason or another. So he’s a lot of work to do in the Summer.

3.) 08 Feb 2019 15:49:01
SY, top 4 finish will make attracting top player a lot easier I think.
And whatever we think of our current performance i hope for the best finish.
And hopefully we can build on what we have and address the defence issue whether it’s buying defenders or better coaching staff.

4.) 08 Feb 2019 16:22:56
Agree with all that Moe, tip 4 would be fantastic plus thier seems little point in bringing in new defenders without bringing in someone to organise train and shape then in a working unit, bring in a defensive coach who can do the bits can't makes more sense than just carrying on as we are.

5.) 08 Feb 2019 19:55:03
This is how low our expectations are now, can you imagine discussing playing for 4th 10 years ago.

6.) 09 Feb 2019 00:19:49
The expectations at Arsenal have been way too low for way to long 68 mate, we need to up our game as a club from fans upwards.
If we are 4th place happy then the players manager and board will see that as the bar they need to clear.

Liverpool United Spurs see 4th place as a stepping stone not the ultimate goal, even if they don't achieve it their ambitions are not restricted to merely champions league participants.
Arsene invented the 4th place trophy and it's become a milestone around our expectations.

Big game tonight, what y’ll thoughts about tonight? Which arsenal will turn up for the game? And what's your predictions?

Moe G

1.) 25 Jan 2019 13:12:59
I think we will edge this 2-1 after hanging on for a torrid final 10 minutes.

2.) 25 Jan 2019 13:43:15
2 2 for me Moe mate, does it go to extra time tonight?

3.) 25 Jan 2019 14:32:26
Can’t really recall 62 mate if it goes to extra time or reply. I think it will be 2-1 for us as Urban mentioned.

4.) 25 Jan 2019 14:33:28
I think our full backs need to have a big game tonight.

5.) 25 Jan 2019 15:14:40
We need to be wise to United sucking us in and then devastating us on the break, Liverpool Chelsea and Spurs all came to the Emirates ready and willing to impose their attacking football on us and we coped well but we can and do go all soppy at the back when we are the ones in command of the majority of possession.

Discipline organisation and more Discipline are what we are in need of most if we are to improve beyond our current " after you sir " shot for shot approach.
The result is important but in the long run improvement in discipline and controlling a game are more important. Top teams can both defend and score goals adequately well.

6.) 25 Jan 2019 16:19:18
We have a decent home record against top 6, it depends on the team put out but i would hope we can win 2 or 3-1. I do think it will be a great game, whatever.

7.) 25 Jan 2019 16:41:19
Well put Gunner62, agree with all of that.

8.) 25 Jan 2019 17:58:22
Very tough match tonight, it depends on who both teams select tonight with a heavy schedule ahead. My gut feelings is a score draw.

25 Jan 2019 12:54:38
Wow, what happen to our legend Henry? Was he at fault amd ready for management or was it Monaco as team not wanting to give anything?
Would’ve the arsenal performed better under him if he was appointed instead of Emery?

Moe G

1.) 25 Jan 2019 13:49:18
Wrong place wrong time for Henry imo. Monaco were in a right mess before they brought him in. We all know that Henry has a soft spot for Monaco and he saw it as a good opportunity but ultimately it wasn't. He needs more time and really needs to take his next move carefully.

2.) 25 Jan 2019 14:29:21
I think different clubs need different types of managers at different times, Moyse at Preston then Everton was right man at the right clubs at the right time but at United it was the complete opposite.
Who knows if Moyse and LVG swapped timings things might have turned out much different for Moyse at United.
When you hire a manager I think you have to look at what you are looking to replace and why you are replacing them
Henry would have been betrer going down the Lampard route at a club like Derby in my opinion where he would be hugely respected and be given time to learn his trade without huge egos and expectations to manage on day one.
If he has it in him he will shine through and come good.
On joining Arsenal in place of Emery I think it would have been a double disaster because he doesn't have the experience to break the cosy club plus if it ended badly his Arsenal love affair Would be have to suffer because of it.

I think we are waiting for the summer transfer window to sort out our defence where more players become available and at better prices. I’m sure the club is aware of our defensive issues but the next transfer will tell a lot about the club and Emery.
I believe our strategy this window get some players on loan with option to buy as if they can settle and look to handle the PL than ok if not return the player and look for other option rather than a panic buy.
Liech was brought if for more experience and maybe teach Belerin a thing or two about defending, which hopefully in training is way better than what he is showing us on the field.

I actually like the idea of Viera, especially that he was a rock of a CM so he knows how to fix our midfield and defence.
Allegri a great shout too.

I think with the new appointments arsenal started to purchase players differently, and for that I hope we will see some quality signings at the back. Although CB are bery rare these days.
However we still need wenger out of the door for any future progress.

So we want a new investors and new back room staff so we can have A chance for a top 4 finish? Not much ambition there mate.
Emery knows his team better than anyone else at the moment. And if nelson is ready for the PL next season would be awesome and we don’t have to invest massively in that area sobwe can invest on the defence and sort out our leak at the back. Going forward hasn’t been a massive issue but keep it tight at the back has.
Next summer signings should give us more knowledge of the team Emerys want as we have a lot of replacement to do. But I think we need an upgrade on bouldy.

Well ed001, that's a player who wnats to be the best at what he does not like most modern footballers. But as g62 mentioned its tough to be a footballer these days earning loads of cash but they have to work weekends and not allowed late nights. You got to feel for them :)

Moe G

{Ed001's Note - oh yes, I really feel for them, it must be so hard having to give up weekends to play football. Not like any of us would choose to do that.....}

Well that ms exactly if 62 mate, I’m with all try your own philosophy and approach but if it not paying off well at least adapt to what you have and get as much points as you can and in the summer you assess why your philosophy didn’t work? Certain players don’t fit your style than sell and get your ownand work your magic. I know managers especially newly appointed ones will want to make their marks but if its not working what do you do, come up with a new idea or you going to start losing fans and palyer faith in your philosophy.
I might be completely wrong and I’m sure managing a team is not a bloody video game but we watch a lot of football for a decent number of times and we can see when its not working hense the people actually doing the job.

Chelsea have a good individual players, their defence won them the league at some point I think, also their front line is one of the best on their day, so you definitely have to question Sarri’s tactics and game approach. I think chelsea have a team that can be fighting for the title with city and Liverpool.
But it all comes down to the manager in the end and it’s almost the same problem we are having this is why I think its us and Chelsea will miss out the top 4 spot.
United so there is a problem and they did something about it and its paying off, us and Chelsea we tried to fix the managerial problem but our managers did recognise the actual issue their teams have.
