Interesting post on the Liverpool Rumours page regarding Virgil van Dijk.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what Danny Murphy has said but right now Southampton are in Austria trying to patch up the damage done to their captain by Liverpool. To the best of my knowledge Southampton are aware of another side want further talks. I am not aware of any offer from Liverpool at this time that presumably would have needed to have been accepted for it to be "close". Perhaps there has been and Liverpool are using Danny Murphy to break the news to the world? }

Othet side being Arsenal or Chelsea ed?

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal. Although both Chelsea and Manchester City are still looking for a CB. }.

Interesting, thanks for the repost. Don't think we need him personally, especially for the money that's being thrown around, but interesting nonetheless.

2.) 14 Jul 2017 12:41:01
Would absolutely love him in the middle of a back three. He is very good on the ball, and is physically big which we need. He would be an upgrade replacement to Merts. Put because and Mustafi (or Holding) next to him and i think you have a really solid base.

3.) 14 Jul 2017 13:03:50
He got a pretty bad injury at the end of last season so no doubt if we are interested, we'd be keeping an eye on that. I think he's a great player and has all the qualities you'd want a defender to have. Holdings going no where but I don't think Kos will be able to handle the full on time table we've got this season. An experienced leader such as him, would come in and slowly takes Kos place I'd assume. I also think he's better than Mustafi who ball watches like crazy. That guy drifts out of position way to often for my liking.

4.) 14 Jul 2017 13:31:28
Kos ain't getting younger so would be a good fit IMO.

Hi Ed,

You mentioned on another team's page that Arsenal, Everton and Atletico had been in discussions with Ghezzal (or his representatives) in the past week. Just wondering if you'd be able to share the outcomes of these discussions?

Thanks.

HertsGunner

{Ed002's Note - Rachid Ghezzal most certainly remains of interest with Atletico and a couple of other sides looking for a pre-contract or even a January deal. Lyon has offered a new deal but they think he will wait on any other offers that might be coming for the summer - perhaps something firm from an Arsenal is in his mind as Ghezzal would be open to a move to Arsenal and has made it clear that he is not keen on a move to Everton.}

1.) 27 Jan 2017 10:31:56
Ed have u seen the rumours about marco reus? They are saying if sanchez leaves then he will become our number 1 target, any knowledge on this at all please mate

{Ed002's Note - It is likely speculation - and you have already been told that Marco Reus is potentially an option if Alexis Sanchez leaves and if he can prove his fitness - certainly there are no discussions or offers at this time.}

2.) 27 Jan 2017 14:15:44
Ed are u wenger in or wenger out

{Ed002's Note - Wenger should be supported by the fans until the summer or until he signs an extension for a year. The fear surrounds him possibly taking on the role of Director of Football or whatever.}

3.) 27 Jan 2017 17:46:40
Do u think the new manager will have the funds to build his own team?

4.) 27 Jan 2017 21:55:53
Of course he would apex! As long as he cleared it with the clubs director of football. 😁

Do u think the new manager will have the funds to build his own team?

6.) 29 Jan 2017 04:28:45
The question that should be asked is. Who's big enough and good enough to step into Wengers shoes? .
That's why I can't see Arsene stepping down until there is somebody of the quality Arsenal should have.
We would need a World class manager to replace him somebody who will attract World class players to the club later on. Sorry Eddie Howe! but in my opinion you are not Arsenal material yet mate.

Hi Ed,

On another page you mentioned that Arsenal are interested in signing Pickford and another goalkeeper. Would they be looking at this for January or possibly the summer? And does Pickford's injury change this at all? Thanks.

HertsGunner

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer about timescales but the summer is more likely.}

Eds, any truth to us bidding for Xhaka? Not sure how reliable Raphael Honigstein is, but he's suggesting we've made an offer of 50m euros?! (Unlikely in my eyes with the midfield options we have. )

HertsGunner

{Ed025's Note - arsenal have been monitoring him herts but as far as i know there has been no official bid made mate..

1.) 12 May 2016 15:08:04
perhaps thiago goes to city and xhaka goes to bayern.

Hi Ed001, I noticed on the Liverpool page you gave a quick review of the game yesterday. Just wondering if we could get your opinion from an Arsenal point of view?

And also your thoughts on Cazorla? I would have him in the team at all costs.

HertsGunner

{Ed001's Note - sorry was out so it has taken me a while to get round to doing this. Easy enough to edit on a phone but not to post up long replies!

First half Arsenal were the better side, but did not create enough, for all Ramsey's hard running, he does not have the quality on the ball to create and it was clear the team missed a focal point up top and Ozil. Despite this, Liverpool were poor and Arsenal were able to take control and the lead. Can count themselve unlucky to go in at half time level being honest.

Second half they just were overrun as Liverpool stepped up a gear and tore you apart. Arsenal were the disjointed side, but the return of Cazorla was a blessing. You always look a better side with him in the centre of midfield, he works hard, he creates and he is clever. Unfortunately you had him alongside Xhaka, who runs around a lot kicking things but offers nothing else, and Coquelin, who was subdued after his booking. Cazorla had no one to link with or play in and it was as much down to Liverpool thinking the game was won at 4-1 and sitting back, as to any improvement in Arsenal's play, that you got back to 4-3.

Positives were that you kept going, even at 4-1, so spirit is good within the group. Holding looks like he has a real potential, he was confident and composed most of the game. The return of Cazorla, he is, for me, your most important player, though Ozil and Sanchez are better players, he is the one who makes the team fire on all cylinders.

Negatives are Walcott, he has still not managed to become a footballer. Xhaka, I still do not understand this signing for that much money, every time I watch him he does exactly what he did yesterday, runs round kicking everything but the ball. You still have absolutely no alternative to Giroud, who is not good enough to lead the team to the title, though he is good enough to be in the squad, he should be cover or for those games when you play two up front. Cech still does not look right, he just doesn't seem the same player since signing for Arsenal. Sanchez looks unhappy up front, but I would also see that as a positive as he could hardly play any worse in the future. As usual, injuries are a concern.}

1.) 15 Aug 2016 12:21:43
Thanks Ed. Sadly, I have to agree with almost all of that. The sooner Ozil, Kos and Giroud return to the team, the better.

The only point I don't agree with is Xhaka. I haven't seen enough of him yet to really comment, but technically he seems brilliant and I think when Ozil returns to the team his passing range could really help, especially picking him out. Just from the game yesterday though, he is pretty rash in his tackling and is going to get a lot of yellow cards if he carries on playing like that.

Ed, I wonder if you can clarify something for me.

Someone in the my office has a family member that works as an insurance underwriter and he has said that when a transfer occurs (speaking about Pogba in this case) , the player has to get insurance. Understandable. He then says if the player was to get injured, the insurance actually covers the players wages (whilst injured) , not the club. Is there any truth to this?

Just thought it was something interesting to raise, especially with the amount of injuries Arsenal seem to get! And if not, what do players actually get insurance for? Thanks.

HertsGunner

{Ed002's Note - All players at the highest level are insured by the clubs and depending in the terms of the insurance wages will be covered or contributed to.}

1.) 08 Aug 2016 16:41:43
Our players are injured so much, insurance companies actually find it cheaper to pay out when our players play :-)

2.) 08 Aug 2016 17:06:44
There two types of insurance policies that players take-out themselves (these are seperate from the club) .

In certain cases, clubs can include these insurance policies in the contracts.

Type 1: As you described this is effectively a tpye of "personal injury insurance. " Annual product.

Type 2: Career-Ending Insurance. Here the play pays a much bigger some, and if they have a career ending injury, their current wages are covered upto 10yrs.

In either case, these are pretty standard and usually handled by he agents.

So the Ox is out for another 2 months.

Would everyone like to see him stay, or is it time to move him on?

I think he might really kick on at another team, and we might regret selling him. But if we were to replace him with someone more consistent, I'd probably be okay with seeing him leave.

HertsGunner

1.) 06 May 2016 13:15:00
Move him on and Walcott as well.

2.) 07 May 2016 09:18:31
Sell him.

Ed, in the Arsenal outs, Özil wasn't mentioned. Is he likely to stay now? Thanks.

HertsGunner

{Ed002's Note - I think he is more likely to stay than to go right now.}

Ed, I've noticed you've not mentioned Özil in that list? Is that because you understand he's now staying? Or just that it's a long list to cover! Thanks.

HertsGunner

{Ed001's Note - because I am not sure what is happening with him right now.}

Ed, when you say we have been rebuffed by Mustafi, is that by the club or player?

Any word on who they might be looking at, Ed? I'd love Zlatan for a couple of seasons, but don't see it happening with his wages.

HertsGunner

{Ed001's Note - apart from Lucas Perez, there is Paco Alcacer of Valencia though their poor season might have seen his star fallen a bit. Muniain and Inaki Williams of Athletic Bilbao, Cedric Bakambu of Villareal. Guidetti, previously of Man City, Wenger has wanted him checked to see how he gets on, as he thought he had a lot of potential when younger. Perez of Newcastle. Icardi as well. Off the top of my head those are ones I know you have had scouted a fair but this season. It is well known Wenger loves both Benzema and Higuain as players too, but would not need to scout either.}

Apologies Ed, I meant that in the sharkopod you said there was a possibility of Raul Sanllehi joining Arsenal from Barcelona. Is there a possibility he will still join Arsenal, or has that position now been filled by Sven Mislintat instead and Sanllehi will go somewhere else?

HertsGunner

{Ed002's Note - I think there is some confusion. The two are entirely unrelated. Sven Mislintat will join as new Head of Recruitment (e.g. top of the scouting network) to replace Steve Rowley. Mislintat is a really nice guy and comes with a fantastic reputation. The situation with Raul Sanllehi is different. He is leaving Barcelona November 30, 2017 (although he is in London on business at the moment) and he will not finally commit to anything until that happens. Arsenal has approached someone else (as I dealt with some months ago) and have now approached Sanllehi to join Arsenal, initially with the title of Director of Operations but with the longer term intent of becoming the Director of Football. So the two are completely unrelated.)

Ed02, has this new chap taking the role you mentioned about in the sharkopod? Or can we expect someone else to join in a negotiating role?

HertsGunner

{Ed002's Note - I am not entirely sure I understand the first question.}
