Wilshere has broken his leg.

Detroit Gooner

1.) 19 Apr 2017 00:27:51
He almost lasted the season.

2.) 19 Apr 2017 10:03:23
there we go everyone it isn't just our medical team. Sure that whole system does need looking at, but Wilshere seems to be made of glass. Hopefully he recovers quickly!

Ed, Is there any update on Cazorla contract negotiations. Do you personally think he will stay at the club.

Would be a shame to see him leave as he'd be difficult to replace. Xhaka is not the same type of player and i'm not sure Wilshere or Ramsey will be good enough to fill his shoes. Although I believe if Wilshere continues to stay injury free and perform well at Bournemouth he should be given a shot.

Detroit Gooner

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal want Santi Cazorla to sign an extension but are most definately looking for a long term replacement - which means oppotunities will begin to thin out. He must consider what is best for him and make a decision in the summer and I think it best that he moves on if the right option is available.}

1.) 17 Jan 2017 15:46:13
Shame to see Santi Leave but we definitely need a replacement for him ASAP.

2.) 17 Jan 2017 17:26:30
Ed are rumours true about the juventus manager replacing arsene?

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained before, it is not worth the grief my explaining what has been happening regarding the coaching role.}

3.) 20 Jan 2017 16:12:19
Hi ed, are there any names in the hat for Santi's long term replacement? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Gabriel Boschilia and Otavio remain of interest.}

4.) 21 Jan 2017 02:07:49
Thanks Ed2, presumably it'll be unlikely we'll try and push for a deal this window, but rather the summer?

{Ed002's Note - Nothing will happen before the summer and much will depend on whether he wants to be a bit part player next season and a couple of other matters.}

Cazorla out for 3 months. massive blow. Ramsey needs to step it up.

Detroit Gooner

1.) 01 Dec 2016 16:44:30
I didn't watch the match last night, just saw the highlights. Question - was Ramsey on the night as bad on defence as the second goal?

Looked disinterested and a little clueless.

2.) 03 Dec 2016 07:34:40
Ramsey? yeah like this is going to happened :-)

3.) 03 Dec 2016 12:50:09
Is calling Wilshere back early not an option? I think now he's starting to get back to some fitness he could slot in the team well. Too many sideways passes with Elneny and Coq!

4.) 04 Dec 2016 09:19:01
Ramsey is often played out of position wide and how many goals did we score after he came on? By the way Walcott was woeful.

28 Oct 2016 01:42:38
Seeing some rumours that Lucas Perez damaged his ankle ligaments and is out for 2 months. any clarification on this?

Detroit Gooner

1.) 28 Oct 2016 12:47:11
Aye son, you're not wrong. Wenger's confirmed it today, like. Six weeks minimum on the sidelines and all down to a totally pointless, reckless challenge that somehow went unpunished.

2.) 29 Oct 2016 06:01:35
It's a shame Perez is out for weeks due to such a dreadful foul. How on earth the Reading player avoided being sent off is beyond comprehension. Fortunately Giroud is back, so we have an option up front, with Akpom, Perez and Welbeck all out with long term injuries.

Idea for voting poll Eds

What do you think of our RB situation?

-Renew Sagna contract
-Let Jenkinson be first choice
-Buy new first choice RB

I feel RB could be a problem position for us come next season, if Sagna leaves. {Ed001's Note - done that poll for you.}

Detroit Gooner

1.) I would definitely give Sagna two more seasons & the wage increase he wants. There are not many, if any, better right backs in the PL. I would persevere with Jenkinson, but I am not convinced, although I wasnt convinced with Ramsey & he has proved me wrong!

2.) 15 Oct 2013 12:44:30
What about Piszczek? I thought Wenger was interested in him? The amount of crosses this guy drills in is awesome!

RJG

3.) We need one more seasoned RB, no disrespect to Bac or Jenks. It's just the numbers. Unless we get another CB, in which case the current situation is good for another year. Definitely want Bac to sign, he's been a mini-me Mr Arsenal fornthe crruent generation if players and that goal against S****s 2 years ago sums it up.

4.) That goal against spurs was one of my favourite goals ever, 2-0 down, sagna says **** this and scores a cracking header. I Won't forget that goal, i'd prefer a young fresh faced centre back over a new right back, i'm not sure wht the situation is for centre backs within the reserves but if we have some one good enough. Also I don't mind ignasi, bit of a shame we sent him off to leicster for the season

Monreal, Bellerin, Lacazette all out for tonight. What team do we go with then? I think getting the away goal is crucial but we need to keep it tight at the back and shut out Milan. i'd go with Mertesacker we need a leader and captain at the back. Kolasinac and Ainsley more suited to wing backs over fullbacks too imo. Mustafi has to be dropped he's been w@nk recently. Hopefully we set up to hit Milan on the counter.

Ospina
Holding - Mertesacker - Koscielny
Niles - Ramsey - Xhaka - Kolasinac
Mhkitarian - Ozil
Welbeck

Subs - Cech, Chambers, Mustafi, Elneney, Wilshere, Iwobi, Nketiah

Going with 2-1 Milan unfortunately.

Detroit Gooner

1.) 08 Mar 2018 03:48:12
Unfortunately! That would be a right result. I can't see us being within 3 after tonight.

2.) 08 Mar 2018 06:57:45
4-0

I agree Steve.

3.) 08 Mar 2018 07:21:13
3-0 AC.

4.) 08 Mar 2018 08:08:31
My selection would be:

Cech
Maitland- Niles Mustafi Koscielny Kolasinac
Elneney Xhaka
Ramsey Wilshere Mkhitaryan
Welbeck

Subs: Ospina, Holding, Ozil, Nketiah, Chambers, Iwobi and Mertesacker - Having to select Mertesacker and Chambers on the bench clearly illustrates the lack of depth in the squad, having sold: Debuchy, Gabriel, Coquelin, Walcott, Oxlade, Sanchez, Giroud, etc.

2-0 to Milan.

The atmosphere on Sunday v Watford will be toxic. We need to secure a new manager as soon as possible, in order to line up the 6 or so players we desperately need for next season, including a keeper, a pair of CB's and a pair of DM's.

5.) 08 Mar 2018 08:53:18
Hard to not see a defeat coming, it used to be just like us of recent years to get a shock result when people least expect it and we the team and manager are under the most pressure and defuse the situation a bit but I'm not sure even that is left in the locker now.
Hard to see where another come back will come from this time.

6.) 08 Mar 2018 08:54:29
Mertesacker is not a captain. That's an insult to captains of old e.g Adams and Vieira. Remember him messing himself and ducking out of the way?

26 Feb 2018 14:17:12
Yesterday properly highlighted that our transfer policy under Wenger is wrecked and our squad is just completely unbalanced.

Yesterday we had no threat going forward, Augbumeyang had nothing to work with and Ozil had no options or runners to pick out. Ozil, Ramsey, Mhki, Wilshere, Iwobi all players who want to come short and collect not make runs or stretch defences. We have no wingers or pacey wide players at our club who can stretch a defence or stay wide and put in a good delivery. Why did we sell Walcott should of played him more.

We have no natural CDMs, Xhaka and Elneney not up to it neither have the legs or workrate. They are awful at the job they are being asked to do. Having 90% pass success isn't good enough esp when all these are to the CBs or offloading to other CMs.

Our defence is ashambles. Monreal and Kolasinac good enough, Lb fine. Cbs - Kos not what he used to be. Mustafi hugely disappointed in 18 months not adapted or good enough. Chambers not good enough. Bellerin has no competition no matter how poor he plays he'll start next week. Kolasinac coming in has made Monreal perform better to keep place, Bellerin needs same competition.

Goalkeepers neither good enough Id keep Cech for his experience and dressing room pressence but we need a better first choice.

Its frustrating because we have sold players we should have kept. Szesency is better than what we got, Ox is excelling at Lpool, Gabriel was a better CB than Chambers, Coquelain poor form yes was still our only DM, Giroud and Walcott atleast one should of been kept to offer something different.

We have a decent squad something to build around. We desperately need a new manager to come in and sort out the defence and bring in 5/ 6 players to improve our depth and first XI.

We need a top new GK, a RB to push Bellerin, a top CB, proper specialist DM and a pacey LW.

I don't even know who we could sign who would actually want to join us? Would depend on the new manager.

Ox as Cazorla long term replacement?

I think if we were to stick with this 3-4-2-1 going into next season. Xhaka and Ox could be a good, dynamic midfield duo. Ramsey, Coquelain and Elneney serve as good back ups.

Ox needs more game time and if he's considered as a CM and a back up RWB to Bellerin when he's injured then he'll play plenty next season.

I think given his workrate, dribbling and range of passing he could excell as a CM.

Detroit Gooner

1.) 10 Jul 2017 10:47:53
I agree with giving the Ox Cazs job but I just don't see Arsene seeing things that way.
George loved dropping and subbing Merson and Arsene seems to have the same thing with the Ox in my opinion.
I think take the money let the Ox go to Liverpool and Arsene buy someone who he thinks can be a regular in Cazs position is the answer that works for everyone.

2.) 10 Jul 2017 12:00:36
Can't see it bwois, the guy ain't got the technique or mentality to wriggle outta them tight spots like the boss. Shame for his horrible injury, Jorginho of Napoli could replace caz, I'm struggling to find more suitable options. Elneny definitely ain't the answer though.

3.) 10 Jul 2017 16:15:52
Agree I don't see it because of your reasons and he's always injured at some point. Big problem for all our injury prone players.

4.) 10 Jul 2017 16:49:42
Give Liverpool the Ox plus £20m and get Coutinho.

5.) 10 Jul 2017 17:21:15
I'd give my right arm for thiago from bayern to replace him, jack. jorginho would be a great replacement too.

6.) 10 Jul 2017 17:38:32
Not that I don't rate him, the kid has talent and needs a whole season playing without injury. Wilshire spring to mind.

05 Jun 2017 13:22:42
Bayern Munich bid £35m for Alexis. Would you take it?

I personally would snap their hand off. I've accepted we are going to lose him. Do feel a bit sorry for him 45 goals and assists this season and still couldn't get top 4 or mount a challenge in the CL. He deserves better. But him going to a PL rival just doesn't bare thinking about. If he goes to Chelsea, City or United then might aswell give that club the PL title now. I can't see him signing any extension even if we offer £300k a week, as I don't think he's motivated by money, and any other top PL club would pay him that anyways. He stays another season and allowed to go on a free i'm almost certain he will end up at Chelsea.

Hopefully Bayern, Juve or PSG come in for him and we can get a decent £40-50m considering he's in last year of contract.

Thoughts?

Detroit Gooner

1.) 05 Jun 2017 13:59:36
I think 50 is possible as he's that good and if bayern wait till jan Itl be an auction so best to get him in early. For me he's second best player iv seen at arsenal.

2.) 05 Jun 2017 14:11:01
Second best derby?! I like him but I don't feel he is anywhere near Thierry or Dennis.

{Ed025's Note - im with you D16..

3.) 05 Jun 2017 14:37:14
Agree with D, Dennis number 1 for me, closely followed by Thiery. Would love our super negotiator Dick law to get us at least Euro 50m for Sanchez, and for us to reinvest it all back plus extra into his one single replacement. I would be most upset if Mahrez or worse Turan was going to be his replacement. We at least have to try and sign a player in the A league (pre another injury Reus would have been my choice, but someone in his league such as a Dybala or Griezman, rather than a 30 year old past his peak not good enough to get into Barcelona's first team choice) .

4.) 05 Jun 2017 15:28:46
Eould Bayern be willing to give him the wages he wants though? If you have a look at the wages of players in the bundesliga there's a HUGE difference to PL players.

5.) 05 Jun 2017 15:40:32
I loved dennis he had the joy of being in winning teams in an era we wanted to challange. If dennis could fly then even better. Alexis has had to carry us. But seeing all three in a team would of been amazing. I always pick goals first they win games. So henry and alexis for me.

6.) 05 Jun 2017 16:28:06
After just a few seasons he's better than bergkamp. Not for me! He would need to be here another 5 years and keep to the level of last season to start getting talked in the same breath as that man. Sanchez is an amazing player with the heart of a lion who has flashes of brilliance, bergkamp is one of the few players in history who gets talked about as a genius.

7.) 05 Jun 2017 16:55:23
I'd put a few more before Sanchez too and for someone who always picks goals Derby what was with the De Bruyne love affair. 😱😂😂😉.

8.) 05 Jun 2017 17:33:13
I think if you read through his previous stoner derby says that he loves gingers even more than goals! Obviously has Paul scholes and Nicky butt up there as well.

9.) 05 Jun 2017 17:34:31
Just a quick question derby . How old are you or more importantly how old were you when bergkamp was playing?

10.) 05 Jun 2017 17:58:43
I hear the seasons argument but ronaldo is the best player manu have had even tho wasnt there long. Alexis we may not appreciate until he's gone.
De bruyne top class most assists this season and iv always rated him over ozil my opinion stays the same.

11.) 05 Jun 2017 18:19:17
The phrase ' Class on grass ' was invented for Denis Bergkamp simply because that's what he was.
Henry was better and Veira Pires Adams Wright were all at least equal to Sanchez, the very fact Sanchez gets mentioned speaks volumes about the man though.

12.) 05 Jun 2017 18:48:18
Let's not be using Ronaldo's stint at united to try and justify your point. He is on another level and if Ronaldo went to Real Madrid and failed then you or no one else would ever say he was uniteds greatest player.

13.) 05 Jun 2017 19:20:05
Lol ifs and butts sanogo. History is history and ronaldo is ronaldo. He was class at utd from what I saw. Sanchez is just my opinion. And most will say he's not in the top5 of course. I love the guy tho. Respect your views boys x.

14.) 05 Jun 2017 22:22:03
If difference is less than 5m then sell abroad but 15m he should be sold anywhere

We need money to replace him - every 1m counts.

15.) 06 Jun 2017 09:28:13
It wouldn't be good to watch Sanchez do in the premier league what RVP did at Utd in firing them to the title with all those goals SY mate.
Imagine if he went to Utd and played a huge part in them winning the title next season, or Liverpool.
It would be better for the club and Arsene to take less money and see him leave the premier league imo.

Beat Southampon on Wednesday, and maybe we can dream of top 4.

Liverpool slip up today gave us a life line. It is imperative we win all 4 of our games.

Great performances from Ox, Xhaka and Ramsey today. Hope we tie down Ox on a new contract he's been one of the few players that's given maximum effort and played well this season.

Detroit Gooner

1.) 08 May 2017 07:11:34
A glimmer of hope for a top four finish after our win and Liverpool surprisingly dropping two points at home. It is still a very difficult task, as we have to win all four matches, three of them are tricky matches and hope that West Ham on the back of putting paid to the toot's fake title hopes, can draw or beat Liverpool. The new formation looks solid and hopefully we won't revert to the old system, that brought very little success.

Ozil and Sanchez are too very special players and if were we to lose either of them we should struggle to attract a player of similar or better calibre to replace them. I say give them whatever they want.

I think that we need 4, possibly 5 depending on departures as Bellerin is rumoured to be for sale and Mustafi tried to leave last season. definitely need a Goalkeeper, RB, CB and CDM.

So in a semi-relaistic wishlist. i'm going to go for.

GK - Leno from Leverkusen
RB - Cedric Soares from Southampton
CB - Howedes from Schalke (was their captain I believe need a leader at the back, he's experienced in CL and International level, may be available as just spent season on loan at Juventus hardly played there. )
CDM - Nzonzi from Sevilla

Would also take Butland, Gimenez, Koulibaly, De Vrij, David Luiz, Fabinho and/ or Seri (Nice)

Koscielny, Mustafi, Gabriel, Cazorla, Wilshere and Alexis are all out. and Ozil is unavailable too apparently. We always seem to have players out start of each season and it costs us the running start we need.

If we keep a lot of players then we will certainly have the squad depth to field a strong side in Europa League games and it wouldn't affect our side too much for domestic games either side of the fixture.

Ospina, Gabriel, Mertesacker, Holding, Gibbs, Elneney, Coquelain, Iwobi, Walcott, Welbeck, Giroud all players that will not be in starting XI that could play in europe.

£33m for those two would be very good business in my opinion. Add the funds from Szsezeny and we got close to £50m. That would get us a top CB and enable Holding to go out on loan and get some valuable experience.

Van Dijk anyone?

Which position did he play, LWB? He featured there a lot of the time for Schalke last season as they playes that 3-5-2 system a lot. Must be comfortable enough with it.
