Been having an Walcott discussion on Twitter and just wanted to get more opinions. As we know Walcott is not in the best form coming back from injury and contract talks are due to start again. I originally took the stance that I want Walcott to stay. However after thinking it over I'm starting to question that. Last contract we needed him to stay, now I don't think we need him as much. The biggest shock for me is that Walcott and Sanchez are the same age but completely different in terms of ability and unfortunately I feel Walcott will never reach that ability. I do feel Ox could and deserves to be a first team player now with impressive displays over the last few years. We sold Vieira so fabregas could develop should we sell Theo to allow the Ox and potentially Welbeck to push on?
Don't get me wrong I'm still a fan of Theo and if a deal can be done great. But does he deserve 100k a week (may even wants more now). If we could offload him this summer to a non EPL club I would be very for it. Selling to a EPL club would be difficult although I think potentially only Liverpool would fancy him. Another stance is sell Walcott and look at Pedro more of a WC player until OX is at that at stage?

{Ed025's Note - he is a quality player for me dandan, big mistake to let him go..

agree with ed, would much rather sell welbeck, still no idea why we bought him

{Ed025's Note - to be fair eden, danny, while never being first choice is a damn good squad player mate..

while walcott is a sensational player if he does have a decent run of games, his constant issues with injury does not favour his current stance with his contract.

can he thrive at man city or liverpool? yes.

but i don't see any point in trying to keep a player who held us to ransom, got his deal, and since 2 years ago, has been injured for a year and has still not proven he can raise his game when it counts.

The ox has already proven he can be more of a threat in the same role, and with Welbeck and sanchez we always have a constant pace threat.

Morata, Dybala, Vietto would be the only players in my mind who can replace walcott and make us better.

but if we want quality to replace him and give ox more of a challenge, i can only think of Marco Reus and Bale. both of which are near impossible.

{Ed002's Note - None of the players you mention in Morata, Dybala, Vietto, Reus or Bale or likely to be viable for Arsenal. Pedro might be an option.}

How do you think the Ox's goal scoring record compares to Walcott? I can't quite believe what I'm reading. He gives us things that nobody else does. Let me know when Ox scores 20+ goals from midfield in a season (and I love Chamberlain by the way). We cannot sell one of our best players because he's been injured for a year. For me he is still our most important player along with Koscielny. And I believe the discussion is redundant anyway because Wenger already knows all this and would not sell.

Walcott is not our most important player.

Has anyone heard anymore regarding the vacant internal positions at Arsenal?

I saw paper talk of Bergkamp for Head of Youth but can't see that happening and now with Payton off hopefully we'll see Seaman or Lehman return or is that wishful thinking.

Bild reporting Arsenal have made an offer to Tuchel

Usually as all paper talk but Bild usually pretty reliable.

Dandan

{Ed002's Note - This is far from new news - and I am not so sure that "offer" is the best word to use.}

1.) 20 Mar 2017 00:01:12
I hope that is true. Tuchel would suit us but not sure wenger would vacate his seat willingly.

Any news on the Ozil and Sanchez contracts?

Seems to be going worryingly under the radar.

Anyone know it have a feeling what will happen with Arteta?

I think it's pretty obvious he will retire but do you think he will go straight into coaching, if so where City, Tottenham, Arsenal?

As long as he isn't at Arsenal next year I don't care.

2.) 06 May 2016 13:25:42
He scored some wonderful goals for the opposition this year.

Does anyone have any update regarding Theo Walcotts contract?

I Have no information at the moment
As soon as i have some i will let you know

2.) 10 Jul 2015 17:43:23
I think he's waiting for the window to close without Arsene buying a striker before he will commit himself, he wants to play down the middle or leave for a club that will accommodate his wishes.
Personally I have always thought he could be an excellent striker and if he is ever going to forfil his potential its playing there.

3.) 10 Jul 2015 18:55:23
In fairness proved he could do a job there in last two games for us and unless we could buy a WC ST he might as well be given a chance

If rather play Theo down the middle then but Lacazette

Everyone's available at the right price, whether Arsenal can or would pay that price is a different question.

I would be shocked if that's true, I very much doubt the Banks would have any say in who the manager is or his contract. That might be in the Arsenal buisness plan presented to the banks but the bank wouldn't care as long as we are paying the bill on time.

And to answer the initial question I think a lot of the transfer fees you heard don't account for the additional costs. Good example is buying you house you have the house price ( transfer fee) but it doesn't take into account moving cost, solicitors fees, estate agents fees, Mrs wanting new sofas ect ect.

Strange for Wenger to make those comments as he has Always been a big campaigner for Winter breaks, especially when he discusses the comparison between the PL best vs Europes best.

If Liverpool don't make CL I can see Sterling considering his options, but Liverpool will play the old 'oh he's to big for Arsenal, if he moves up he needs to go to an elite club.' Which as an Arsenal fan I obviously disagree with but if push came to shove and they couldn't get Sterling to sign a Walcott Sterling swap ( with cash liverpools way) could suit both.

Dandan

{Ed025's Note - stirling is a very good prospect dandan, but some on here are making him sound world class!, he is miles away from that at the moment mate..

Defo a ST, whilst we do need a top CB, a ST can win games and if we could go 2-3 up rather then getting stuck at 0-0 or 1-1 the opposing team are less likely to come back.

I don't feel Liverpool have made terrible signing and yes they have overpaid as they went in very brash with their dealings

My concern is that building a new team in one summer is a big risk. I think it was AW who said signing more than 4 1st team players in one season has a massive risk of unsettling the team. I think he is right as look what happened with Tottenham after Bale. I think Liverpool fans can be excited but they should expect anything for at least 2 seasons

I think we need a RM as Theo wants to and in fairness deserves to play as a ST and OX said his long term future was a CM ( kinda like Ramsey)

So we either buy a ST and keep Walcott wide, (which he won't like but would probably accept for a WC ST) or we play Walcott down the middle and buy a quality RM

Think the thinking behind selling Ospina and keeping Szczesny, is that Szczesny does/ will qualify as homegrown.

He either does already or will do if the rumoured rule changes take effect. I guess I agree with this as you don't want to waste a non HG spot on a back up goalie especially. Just hopefully he can learn from Cech and grow up!
