Hello everyone. Been reading the latest posts today and I thinks great that everyone has an opinion. I was 100% Wenger out Gooner. I was happy with Unai appointment and still am. We have to give the bloke time and see where he takes us. I fully see the people's frustration bexcuse one thing we have in common is we all want The Arsenal to be the best. I agree with the remark about managers like Mark Hughes who go from club to club, disaster to disaster but the thing with Unai is that he had winning pedigree and that's why I can see why Arsenal appointed him. Whatever we achieve this season is still in the balance but let's give him a fighting chance with a good transfer window this summer who knows. If we have been sold a dud as one of the Eds suggested then only time will tell.

Hi CB totally agree time will tell and Dick has to be given time, this season and next will be more than sufficient to know if he's a pup or not that's for sure.
Personally I'm ever so disappointed in the total lack of any improvement in our defence and I find it really concerning that if he can't improve our most obvious weaknesses in 8 months he may well be out of his depth with the job we need him to do but I do appreciate it's all opinion at this stage mate.

Fair play to Utd they caught us 3 times but the Sokratis injury turned the game. The thing that I did not like was when Ozil came on we went back to the over passing mode that we had with Arsene. Hopefully Kozza and Sokratis are not out too long. Still got the 4th spot to play for and the Europa so it's not all doom and gloom.

United had a game plan and it's one they've used to good effect against us at the Emirates for many many years now, 2008 in the champions league semi final is the first time I remember them using it.
We really do have to smarten up when playing teams who are happy to give us the ball because some will take the chances we allow them.

Socratis and Koscielny showed how different we look with two very good center backs but loosing one also showed how flimsy we are also. A totally different game when socratis and then again kos went off, at defending at least.

Big big game tonight but I fancy 2-1 to us with PEA ending his dry spell with a couple.
Just a word about Thierry your still a legend with us mate.

Unfortunately Ozil is a luxury we cannot afford. Should have never been given the wages and contract he is on. When he was at Madrid if he didn't perform their were other class players to make up the difference same as the German national team. But when he had a off day with us boy did it show no one to take up the slack. The quicker we offload him and invest the wages into a couple of solid defenders the better. Once we get the defence solid we have the foundation to go from there.

Given your Madrid/ Germany comparison, it might be better to buy more, not less, creative players.

Hello Welsh mate I can understand your concern mate but I can remember Wenger being in pole position in Feb with games in hand and we blew it also being in front at Xmas losing Ramsey and Walcott to injuries doing nothing in Jan transfer window except buying a Swedish mid fielder with a back injury and could not play and we stuck with Wenger for a few more seasons. If mediocre players on big wages are a problem that was brought on by Wenger then give Unai a decent timescale to sort it. If Unai got the job because he was prepared to work within financial restrillions has its been suggested on this site then we have only 2 scenarios
One -He only took the job because it was good money.
Two-He has got belief in his own abilities to get the job done.
At this moment in time I am going for the second option.
As I have already said in a earlier post lots have been said about Kopp and Pochard but as it stands neither
of them have yet to win anything at their present clubs. You mentioned Man Utd well time will tell if they are playing for well because of Solskaer or just to make Jose look bad.
Guardiola is a fantastic manager but could not produce at Bayern what he did at Barcelona and and he his doing a great job at City but as it stands as not done no better than Pellegrini. Pep will ultimately be judged on wether he can bring the Champions league trophy home to the Ethihad. Unai is a proven winner with other clubs so let's give the bloke time if like I said yesterday that 18 maths down the line we we're seeing no improvement then questions need to be asked but let's get behind him and see where it pans out
Take care Welsh.

Nice Post.

Ah the infamous 2013/ 14 season where we really blew it big time! We won the fa cup but what a horrible second half of the season that was despite the fa cup being our first trophy in a decade, the title was there for the taking but alas we made Kim Kalstrom our only signing to see the job through :- (.

Great post Clockend (phew spelling! ) the guy is doing a job for us because he thinks he can ultimately get us to a better place. Where have people been these last few years, not to remember how low we have been stooping and how badly this club was being run. Is their memory and their patience so poor. I've had to put up with years of decline, i'm quite happy for a few hard weeks to get the poison out of this club and that is what is happening. So bloody what if the awful utd are now daring to draw level with us after 4 years of absolute mediocrity.

In the words of Jerry Maguire
" Show me the improvement "
Like it or not the reality is so far there is none!

6.) 14 Jan 2019 16:00:40
Gunner, while i accept your point. Do you not think the guy is at least trying to change things by formations, personell changes, the stance with ramsey and the big one ozil and if ypu look many other things. Sometimes changes or improvement from changes don't wprk immediately but from a period where nothing changed, surely people have to see this guy is actually being pro active. And i think challenging the board to be on board with him and back because we didn't have that before. I would argue he is trying to change and we aren't going backwards at least. Me i don't mind going back to go forwards if things are being tried, that need to be tried.

How proactive is starting Xhaka in every league game just like Arsene did Steve mate? Iwobi rather than Lacasette? I just don't get it at all but if it was working then I would accept the man knows what he's doing but it isn't so I'm not so sure he is any more clued up than Arsene was in his last decade.
I really hope he is and comes good for us but Xhaka Iwobi ìn place of Lacasette and Guendouzi? It's a real worry for me mate.

8.) 14 Jan 2019 17:57:42
Gunner, i can pick out all things i don't like that he is doing, the difference is he is actually doing lots of radical and controversial things to try and sort things. Blood letting comes to mind and surgery, you often don't feel better straight away after them either but you can later.

9.) 14 Jan 2019 18:16:53
I think politicians call it the green shoots of recovery Steve:-)
So far it reminds me of our last season in the champions league 16/ 17 where we were getting good results despite conceeding chances for fun which other teams consistently wasted then suddenly Everton did or in this case Southampton did and suddenly we couldn't buy a result, funny enough we went to Anfield that season and got stuffed by half time too.
Personally I'm not and never was too fussed about where we finish this season I Just want see some solid foundations taking shape that I can hang my coat on and say " that's better than we've been used too"
I'd take a 0 0 in our next 5 games gladly as long as we stop conceding so many chances to everyone like we did against Fulham at the Emirates and let's face it Fulham are struggling for chances week in week out.

10.) 14 Jan 2019 18:40:02
Is this meant for me?

11.) 14 Jan 2019 19:07:26
Is what meant for you Welsh?

12.) 14 Jan 2019 23:01:26
Yes Welsh, the original poster of this thread was addressing your concerns.
