Don't attack me but who thinks if we don't sign a def mid we could move Kos there when stuck he can tackle he's got pace and can pass and read the play. We've got Gabriel, Debuchy and Chambers for centre half. Just saying

A defensive midfielder normally comes with passing skills & I am not sure that Kos has those qualities.

IMO We need a DM for that very reason. Lecoq cannot pass. He is a destroyer and able to play the short passes. His long passing is v.poor generally and this has always been the thing that held him back. We need his steel in certain games but in the majority of games we will need that and the ability to pass long and short. Another DM is a must, far more important than a striker. We have 4 players in the squad that have bagged 20+ goals for us in a season and plenty more that can chip in. Our frailty at shutting up shop did not disapear with Lecoq although vastly improved.

Whilst I don't think it's a good idea it isn't a must that our defensive midfielder be able to spray the ball about as Coquelin is played beside Cazorla whose role it is to do that.

In saying that Coquelin has on a couple of occasions started a move with a long ball that has led to a goal, though it is not his greatest attribute, which Wenger himself has pointed out to him and told him to stick to what he is good at.

It was Coquelin's will to win for me that got him to involved against West Ham and Palace, he just needed to stick at doing what he does best, breaking or holding up play to allow us to get back into shape. He is learning all the time and will get better.

I personally would like to see another brought in but we have Arteta and is he any worse than Mikel at Chelsea or Fernando at City.

I think le coq is trying to add long passes to his skill set. I have seen him in past few games pull a few decent ones off. You can see he understands that he needs to brush up on that to take him to next level. The boy is coming on leaps. That been said I would like some competition for him. Arteta and flam ain't good enough

Sorry man, but I'm just not convinced there at all.
Not only is Koscielny not in any way shape or form, suited to midfield, but moving our best defender out of defence is basically asking to concede.
He may not be currently playing at the levels we've been used to, but he's still better than Per and Gabriel (though I guess seen as we never see Gabriel, it's debatable), chambers is still learning and Debuchy playing CB is silly, I know he's done it a bit, but he's not great there.
Yes, Sagna did a job for us back in the day, but debuchy just won't cut the mustard.

If we're going to sign a defensive mid, then it has to be exactly that.
Hopefully we will get one, but I'm not holding my breath!

{Ed001's Note - hasn't Chambers played defensive midfield in the past?}
