Now Barcelona want Lemar. Are we really interested or will we just watch Barcelona say "You want 50 million yeah? " Done deal.

Can anybody confirm any real interest in anyone? Or are we getting our hopes up for further signings, now that we have signed Lacazette for big money.

Ed002 said earlier we could have signed Lemar ages ago but we are haggling on the price.

Typical Arsenal.

Much will depend on our opening 3 fixtures Leicester home and Stoke Liverpool away none of which are going to be anything like a formality, they are all tough games.
Come through them unbeaten and I think Arsene will be convinced we have enough but lose 2 and I think he will panic buy The best of what's left available.

We can't buy anyone until we persuade other clubs to buy our rejects. And that is proving tough, moving over paid, over priced failures isn't that easy.

Subsidize the moves is the answer Steve, if a player is 70k with us and his potential new club will only pay 30k we should make up the difference for the remaining time of his contract with us, simple we lose less than if he stays the player gets to play football and his new club get a player they want.

Gunner I think the clubs financial model is catching us up and strangling us.

Funny isn't it, we finally begin bending our wage structure to get signings done/ retain players (as we fans often demand) , and it's what comes back to bite us when we want to move them on. Not saying other clubs don't have the same problem, but it's a little ironic.

Wenger did state that we were looking to sign 2 to 3 players and we have signed 2. I believe the third would be a replacement for Sanchez, if he were to depart and hence the chase to sign Lemar. I do wish fans would understand how difficult it is to negotiate a deal. It is nowhere near as simple as slamming down £50m on the table and Lemar is ours. Firstly Monaco do not need the money having sold easily this summer. Indeed they are probably reluctant to make any further sales. I doubt that Monaco have said they want £50m, as the deal would have been done. If Monaco don't wish to sell the player, it is more likely that Arsenal are putting forward offers, only to see them rejected, without Monaco giving any indication of an acceptable fee. Hence the problem. I believe Sanchez will be sold late in the window, if Arsenal receive an offer above £35m, a huge fee for a player that can go for free next year. Then Arsenal will try and force a deal through for Lemar or another player. Reports are emerging fhat we have bid for Lucas Maura. As for the sales, I believe Jenkinson, Chambers, Gibbs and Perez will be sold before the window closes. Debuchy will be difficult to get rid of as he is on very high wages and is 32 years of age. We may have to loan him to a club and pay part of his wages. Akpom and Reine-Adelaide may go on loan. Campbell has serious injury, so nothing will happen in this window. Wilshere will go, if we are able to sell him. I also believe there may a shock sale of a player such as Giroud or Welbeck. In addition Ox looks likely to leave. At best I see one signing, if as I say Sanchez leaves.

You bound be right RG. But that's a dangerous game for me. They should try get lemar done soon as possible. Like 2 weeks ago.

D16, I'm sure all of us would have liked Lemar tied up, but it takes time to put together these deals, particularly if a club is reluctant to sell. Fingers crossed that we get the deal done and allow Sanchez to move on.

Wire I agree but I'm not sure we bent our wage structure, just gave too much money to the wrong players with the wrong attitude or ability.

Get the point, but it is almost that simple! If it is so difficult then why is it that teams like Chelsea, Man City and Man United can have a fee agreed, medical completed and signing announced within a few days? If it isn't that easy to negotiate a deal then why can other teams achieve it?

Because they pay the fee that they demand ensure that the deal doesn't fall through. That's why! can't expect the fans to accept that its difficult to negotiate a deal when other teams have easily achieved it, with the same clubs i might add. Mendy and Silva to Man City and Bakayoko to Chelsea. They had no real issues with Monaco like we are having over the Lemar deal?

Agree Glen and that's why we don't compete, we don't sign the players we really want because their current club won't accept our evaluation so we take our valuation else and get a player we will settle for rather than one we really wanted and needed.
Perez is a good example of this, Danny Welbeck another Elney another all decent enough players but none were ever going to be good enough to turn us into contenders again but all came at a valuation we were content with.
