Morning ed001

With only 5 months left of wengers contract left, do you have any info on what is happening at the club.

Have we been in contact with any other managers

Is there a game plan in place

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - they would still prefer Wenger to stay, but they have a list of possible options if he does finally say enough is enough. There are a few of the ones they would have considered that are likely to be unavailable, such as Emery. It really does come down to Wenger though, he has never been truly set on whether to go or not. At one time he was keen to go into international football, he did actually say to me a long time ago that he would like to manage France one day. I am not sure if he still harbours that ambition now, as time has changed a lot and it is becoming very similar to the England job nowadays, a poison chalice, in many respects.

The uncertainty can't be good for the club though, and I expect him to be pushed to make a final definite decision once the transfer window shuts. Then the club can start properly making plans for next season. The problem is that we are dealing with one man's choice, and he has changed his mind a few times before to stay longer, so it is difficult to be 100%, until the club begins contract discussions with a replacement. That would be the point when we would know for sure they have accepted his decision to leave. That has not begun yet.}

Thanks ed.

{Ed001's Note - there are a few changes I have to make to this, Emery is not under consideration now, though he is likely to be available.}

Thank you, Ed. Is this 'uncertainty' one of the (main) factors that is putting Ozil and Sanchez off from renewing their contracts?

{Ed001's Note - it is certainly a major contributing factor. Makes it very difficult for a player, as the new man coming in might have no plan to use them at all. He might be someone brought in on the cheap with the aim of merely keeping a top four place when Ozil and Sanchez want winner's medals.}
