Happy days - we now have a grand total of 70m in the warchest + Sales = 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

Oh wait a minute, that was a fortune 20 years ago! Just as well we don't need a full defence rebuild. 😴.

So far this summer Arsenal board 10/ 10 the hit hungry journalist minus several million.
the club quietly goes about its business and delivers while the unreliable usual suspects not stop inventing stories to tell those ready to listen even though they so seldom have a grain of truth, yet people still chose to judge the club by what the journalists tell them rather than just wait and see what the club and the new backroom boys deliver by the time the season gers here .
This time last week Artetta was our new manager, now we have financial restricted budget to match West ham and Newcastle :-) people are funny what they chose to listen to and take notice of :-)

I can’t think of a summer window when the media have predicted correctly regarding us and budgets etc.

Gunner62, yes it’s true not to listen too closely to facts the media prints but to defend how arsenal do business is a joke. The board put no money up front so in that sense, we are like Newcastle. The only reason we buy big players Newcastle and co don’t is because we finish higher and are in tournaments they’re not in so therefor have more external money. So like see how city, United, Chelsea owners put money forward, Kronke doesn’t do that. Our books are always balanced. If only he sold his shares to Usmanoz who actually wants Arsenal, his team to compete.

Actually, the media has been pretty accurate over the past few years when it reported the level of activity. Arsene was open and honest about his transfer policy. often telling people, through the media, about transfer activity levels (normally low)

The press remained accurate this time: Arteta was the favourite to be appointed and the Board intended to offer him the job. But Arteta got cold feet and edged away from the deal, so the Board appointed Emery. In the same way, the press got it right about Allegri turning the job down, as did Nagelsmann. Or rather, they made it clear that any job offer would be turned down. Thus allowing Arsenal to claim no one turned down a formal offer.

As for transfer funds, £50 million sounds about right. Arsenal now close to signing Lichtsteiner on a free, so the media had that right all along. Emery is going to have to wheel and deal.

Our net spend over the last 10 years has been £151.5 million, that's less than Utd or city spend in a season, I know we can't compete with either of them, but there should be more money in the bank, unless somethings very unbalanced and poorly handled with the wages, we should make quite a profit each year to have a reserve of more than 50 million available now.

This summer we will get the answer to the was it Arsene or the club who wouldn't spend?
The club kept repeatedly saying money was available each year while Arsene kept telling us there were no players who could improve us available.
It's a new start with a new manager and a new backroom set up and in my opinion this fresh start should include the board too.
None of us know who stopped us spending in the past Arsene or the board but what we do know is it was Arsene who retained Caz Mertesacker Artetta Rosicky and gave them new contracts despite them no longer being able to represent the club on anything like a regular basis plus it was Arsene who insisted on playing Xhaka in every game despite his obvious struggles and Iwobi too.
This summer will tell us a lot so rather than chose to accept the stories the hit seekers pedal why not give the club the benefit of the doubt just until the end of August.
Let's at least give the club one summer without Arsenes before we completely dismiss them as the bad guys they've been painted.

G62, the cinic that I am if I was the board I would be wanting to go nuts this season even if it was them restricting wenger, its the perfect opportunity to totally change there appearance! They let emery spend big they can say well we would of done the same for wenger but he never wanted to and no one will know for sure.

Arteta*.

Eden mate the Arsene defenders will certainly claim any good that cones as being a direct result of Arsenes foundations while at the same time us anything and everything that goes wrong to declare Arsene would have done better.
If we win next seasons title it will be because of Arsene and if we finish 5th we would have finished 4th or higher under Arsene according to the Arsene fc fans, there is no escaping that mate.

26 May 2018 17:16:10
We will finish 4th at best because that’s the limit of our ambition.

If you want to win big - you must invest big. Or get lucky.

Strange prediction that SY as last season before a ball was kicked with these very same players apart from Sanchez being here and PEA not being here people were predicting 2nd or 3rd place at worst for us.
Why so pessimistic when Emery has the whole summer ahead of him and lots of new ideas plus the support of the Sven men who I'm pretty sure the club brought in at great expense to do a job that involved bringing in new players?
I'm pretty sure the club didn't bring in the Sven men in simply to replace Mertesacker Caz Rosicky and Artetta as purely high wage additions with no obvious role to play.

26 May 2018 18:52:39
We finished 12 points behind 4th place - that’s a lot. 15 behind 3rd before Utd and Chelsea strengthen Pool look like they will only get stronger and the club has NO ambition to invest enough to push their not top 2 or 3. So next season - 4th will be the target. They were asked this question last week and refused to come out with a target. they’ve been happy with 4th for the last 15 years so why change? They only changed as we dropped out of top 4 and fans revolted. Where have the board shown they want to challenge?

26 May 2018 20:50:15
Yes we finished 12 behind but I'd argue that's not that much as 4 out of 33 points away from home killed us - the same team as at home COYG.

26 May 2018 22:58:23
That was then and this is now.
If we were willing to accept defeat and decline then we would have stuck with Arsene out of respect for years gone past, but we wasn't willing to accept defeat and decline so we chose change.
In the words of both Bob the builder and Barack Obama YES WE CAN.

The board needs to want it . Not me

You need the tools to do the job.
