I am suprised by the lack of comments about the AGM at the moment. Wenger gave a fantastic and sincere speech, which also reflected the current situation in modern football. Although we are currently stuck with the rest of the board who are out of touch and aren't diverse. The fact that Keswick dissmissed somebody who has spent £80,000 shares in the club is not acceptable. Also I am sure that in our lifetimes many of us have spent thousands on the club that we love. Wenger acknwledged us as fans, although Kroenke and Keswick were completley out of touch.

It seems like the board is happy with our performances and league finishes - in fact that we overachieve

Wenger seems to have given a good account of himself, still wants to win the league and understands that the past is in the past except that it sets the high expectation of the fans. He clearly loves the club and wants to win the EPL before he retires with the fa Cup not being enough. Clearly still understands the fans and is still a winner

Question is - do the Baird want it enough to invest what's required to compete year in year out. What's City and Chelsea spend over past 10 years? Or are they happy with us run as we are .

If Arsene thought someone else could do a better job than him as our manager would he make way? I don't doubt Arsenes love for Arsenal in the slightest but neither do I doubt his love for the game the job the day to day involvement of being with a too premier league club.
Arsene cannot quit because football management has become his life and even if we finished outside the europa league places he would want to carry on because he loves the game.
The AGM was a stage act and Arsene knows how to play the crowd and say all the right things as he has had 14 years of non competiveness to practice his lines.
He talks title ambition but his transfer business never seems to back up those words but instead return a healthy profit for the board.
No Arsene no more fans patience and loyalty no Stan calling the shots no Arsene as manager, don't be fooled by words or lack of words either Arsene and the board are united 100% behind the scenes because they need each other to be allowed to carry on as always and with all due respect to you both Dymond and SY but their tried and tested formula of keeping the fans at bay continues to work.

This is the thing G62 your first paragraph I agree with 100%. But the second half not so much. I don't think arsene is out to con the fans I don't think as you say the tried and tested method of keeping the fans at bay is working either. I can't speak for all but most fans I speak to on here and at the ground think it's time to go. Those fans range from the I think it's time to go fans to the Wenger is a piece of rubbish fan. Like you say you don't question wengers love of the club it stand ms to reason that with love comes a blindness, a refusal to let it go and that's what I believe it is with him. Stubbornness and dillusion fueled by his own desire.

Blinded, deluded, out of touch or stubborn is stopping arsenal having an arsenal manager capable of challenging again because of wenger. Who waffles and waffles to justify his existence as arsenal manager. These last few years we have been denied the chance to go forward because of his arrogance. And like gunner says, if arsene new a better manager, would he step aside? No he wouldn't because he is clinging on to a false hope that he has.

I can't disagree with that steve!

Still hope he proves me wrong. I know, dreamer.

30 Oct 2017 22:28:29
It's not been a dreamer. He is here and we still want to win. And by us I mean the fans 😂.

We all want it Sano mate but doesn't anyone really expect it?
We'd all be secretly very happy with 4th place come game 38 and I'm sure Liverpool fans probably would too, but Chelsea City Spurs Utd fans would all be disappointed with 4th place and consider it an underachievement.
I do long for a bit of there ambition to really catch on here too, I think 2 seasons back 4th place was a bit of disappointment for many of us too but now it's a real ambition which is further proof that we are all going backwards Wether we admit to ourselves or not.

People used to bang on about 20 years of champions league football under Arsene, if we end up in the Europa again next season I wonder how long before people start saying 22 years of European football?
It seems to me we keep lowering the bar so Arsene and the team can still get over it.
Just my opinion but that's how it looks to me.
