The only positive thing about last night is that wenger has to go now, no chance he will sign a new deal.

Ed i have honestly tried to read the posts to find the information about the first manager we tried getting to replace arsene but got backfired. Would u please just say the manager name, i don't need an explanation mate.

{Ed002's Note - It is really not worth the grief for me to explain anything that happens or has happened regarding the manager - it will lead to trolling and grief for all.}

That's a shame ed. I for one love reading your opinions and information. All the best regardless.

We have approached of one manager, but that has been rebuffed by a third party representing him.

Another option is Allegri.

Yeah but what manager was it.

Thomas Tuchel?

I think the board will look to appoint someone young enough to lead the club for 10+ years, they'll also keep with the attacking football and will want someone who integrates youth.
Ed has told us Allegri would be on the shortlist, he also told us Simeone would be at Atletico still next season so we can stop naming him.

Personally I think it'll be one of Tuchel, Jardim or Allegri.

Hopefully we'll all be on our best behaviour and Ed will enlighten us once more.

{Ed002's Note - It would take a lot to get Allegri to agree to go beyond 2022.}

Thanks for the reply Ed002. Any chance you'd want to give us your opinion on who Arsenal should be looking at? I think most of us find it interesting to hear your (and the other Editors) takes on things.

Seems to be a general consensus around Allegri that he's a much better manager tactically than Conte, and I suppose Juventus' champs league performances are a testament to that. Even if he only stayed until 2022 I think he'd be a great appointment, although Tuchel would be my first choice!

{Ed002's Note - I have explained that the club are looking at their options for this summer and the offer of a two year deal last summer was of no interest to Wenger (and to some extent there was a real big deal at the time so it was understandable) - but 2018 would have been preferred by the club and suspect it is still preferred. I have explained about a couple of those who the club has considered - but there are others, and the opinion of Mr Wenger has been sought. If you want my fear, it would be that M Wenger takes over as a Director of Football and mentors one of two potential replacements who would likely be willing to accept that scenario.}

I'm guessing Vieira is one of the 2 in the scenario that Wenger becomes DoF. Please tell me Remi Garde isn't the other, that could be a recipe for disaster!?

Thanks for the info Ed002, greatly appreciated.

Ed, i dunno if your an arsenal fan but in your opinion who would u say is the best fit mate? Only your opinion cause i value what u say mate.

{Ed002's Note - Allegri would be ideal if Wenger were to leave this year.}

Guys Chelsea fan out here. I watched the game between arsenal and Bayern. Sometimes u need to step back and see where the fault lies. 4 out of 5 goals were basic defensive errors. Agree that Wenger must share some blame for not dropping many non-performers. But having said that the board is also equally culpable of retaining these players. There are not many who can seamlessly replace wenger. Actually I feared when mourinho was sacked. Conte has done well luckily and got the players in line. But u guys need to pray for that to happen. Because whoever comes in needs to address the player issue first.

Cheers for opinion ed. Allegri would be a big change, he's a lot more ruthless. One of his mistakes, for me, was selling Pirlo to Juventus from Milan due to his age making him surplus requirments. Wenger would never do that, look at Arteta and the like.

{Ed002's Note - Coaches in many of the European sides have much less say on transfers than M Wenger.}
