According to Sky Germany, Arsenal are in talks to sign Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi.
It is understood that no offer for the 24-year-old Germany international centre-back has yet been made.
Mustafi has a release clause of £42.1m but Sky Germany understand that Arsenal may be able to sign the German for £25.3m plus a further £8.4m in add-ons.
Mustafi and his agent is expected to fly to Spain to discuss the transfer fee with Valencia. All sounds quite promising.

I never feel like I can trust sky sports.
Whenever they say x team is 'opening talks for/ close to/ looking at x player'
I feel it's basically a 'place bets on our website now at this average odds for a player that we've told you might sign'

That a bid hasn't been made yet kinda worries me, but I rate Mustafi above some of the other names being thrown around. Certainly above Stones for double that price, if reports are to be believed.

so a defender would cost 40 mill euros? the same as what wea re planning as a max offer for lacazette?
rather put the 15 mill more and go for john stones.

The trouble is, everyone knows we need a defender - immediately adds minimum £5m if not more.
Even at that price I'd be happy. It's another German to help keep Ozil happy as well.
We have to accept we won't ever be spending the BIG money, I don't see Arsene or Arsenal ever paying £80m for a player and I think that's what Gazidis has been saying this week.
Our targets have to be tempered - £75m for Higuain or possibly £35-40m for Lacazette - I'm not even sure we will get Lacazette after the comments by Lyon. I was against it as previous comments on here will show, but I'll eat a bit of humble pie and say £20m for Vardy at this stage looks very cheap indeed.

Yes, a solid signing, but still not the commanding tall CB we desperately need. The good thing is that he can cover at RB.

first of all the numbers being reported may not even be true.
but a defender is priority number 1. we do not need 2 defenders as some suggest, per will be back buying another defender next summer if he does leave then yes but right now we need 1 to actually replace him.
i really don't think we will get lacazette. as lyon will play hardball all the way to the wire.
and as the eds said about mahrez he has had an offer for quite sometime but he has said he will stay and its unlikely he will leave, regardless of what's being said.
i reckon if he did decide to leave he would have made a decision by now.
also leicester have not had to come out and make statements so i guess that's that.
