Hey eds or any one, would you know anything on what is really happening with ozil? Is he really getting frequently ill and if he is is it serious, or does he just suffer badly from man flu? I know over the past few years he has been sick a lot and I remember wenger saying a year or so back he had problems with his immune system, but this season and especially the last few it seems to exacerbated to being really regular. How bad is the relationship between him and emery, s it just an excuse for him to play or by emery not to select him? Thanks, because it's a shame nothing better than ozil on song and I fear we might not see it again.

{Ed001's Note - seems to be a bit of both, he does seem to pick up bugs, maybe, like a couple of his injuries, down to too much time playing games and not getting enough sleep? As for the relationship, Emery does not want him and so I am sure he is glad of the excuse to avoid having to pick him.}

If i was off sick as much as him i would be paid off with the statutory 12 weeks pay and waved bye bye, not fit for purpose. But i'm sure, with him being so unavailable, he feels so guilty, he gives his wages back.

I've only ever heard of that happening once Steve, a Man City player in the 80s (I think) was injured shortly after joining them and spent 8 months or so unavailable and felt so bad he paid back all the wages he'd received after asking the club to agree to cancel his contact.
I've been a football fan for over 45 years and to my knowledge that's a solitary case.
Over the last decade Arsenal have had 90% of their players out as often as not and not one to my knowledge has ever refused or returned their wages to my knowledge, why should Mesut be different just because he was given a larger undeserved pay increase than the rest.
Our bad in giving him the contract not his for accepting it in my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - there was an American player in Italy, I forget his name but he played for a whole season for free because he was injured.}

Fair play to him too Ed001 mate, it's an extremely honourable thing to do, it's not something you can demand or even expect but it's definitely something to applaud on the very rare occasion it happens mate.

{Ed001's Note - very true. I wish I could remember the guy's name. I seem to remember he ended up at Newcastle on loan after that.}

Yeah I feel the same about the City player Ed001 mate, I feel a bit bad i can't remember the name of someone I really admire for his decency.

{Ed001's Note - sod's law forgetting the decent ones.}

We might not remember their names Ed001 mate but we remember their actions which is something I guess.

{Ed001's Note - very true. And us just saying about it might have triggered someone else to look it up, whereas giving the full story is unlikely to do so.}
