Arsenal were on the decline under Wenger, who left the weakest squad we have had in decades. Emery's 5 signings have been decent, but we clearly need to sign another 5 or so over the next couple of windows and move failing players on. It is essential that 2 or 3 sign gs are made in the January window with 3 players out to long term injuries. We have to be patient as Emery has been doing a good job so far.

Compared to the previous 5, yes FIVE seasons, this season is our lowest points tally at this stage of the competition. We have been first at this stage of the competition in those previous 5 campaigns.
Fact vs fiction quite easily separated. I will however say this; it's way too soon to be trying to decide whether Emery is doing, or will do, better than Arsene Wenger.

RSharpe - Incorrect, last season after 20 matches we were 6th with 37 points. This season we are 5th with 38 points.
Of course nobody in their right mind would try to compare Emery and Wenger's time at the club after such as a short period for Emery. However, under Wemger Arsenal were clearly on the decline and the squad was the weakest I can recall for decades.
It will be interesting to see whether Emery is able to make any signings during the notoriously difficult January window and to see the transfer activity in the summer window. I belive Emery performed miracles with the players he brought in for only £70m last summer, In reality we need to spend heavily again over the next few windows to catch up with the likes of Liverpool and City. Never mind Chelsea and United. The Toot are still an upper mid-table side punching above their weight. Their best hope of winning a much needed trophy is in the League Cup, where they will, in all probability have to beat Chelsea over 2 legs and then Man City.

It will take this club years to turn round the state the club had been allowed to get into and a bit of luck. On the pitch and behind the scenes the club was being strangled and going backwards at an alarming rate.
