Just seen something i found amusing, on the day gazidis joined us we were first in the prem, on the day he leaves us, we are seventh. Last season we finished 6th, great job ivan.

{Ed002's Note - That is hardly reasonable.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Ed02, on the day he joined us, his words were something like, "i am here to make this club great" we were top of the league. I thought it was funny how much progress we didn't make while he was at arsenal. We are now not classed as a top four club and he has gone, saying he has been proud of the job he has done. I just found it funny.

{Ed002's Note - You need to think about what his responsibilities were - they did not extend to the footballing side of things Stev.}

No i appreciate that Ed, but indirectly he is or was in charge of the running of the club.

{Ed002's Note - The club - not the football team.}

Just because the engine hasn't ran well for a long time that doesn't mean every component is or has been faulty Steve mate.
I'd say the kit man and tea lady are about as accountable for the teams performances as Gazidis, manager coaching staff and players are where that responsibility lays mate.

The point is did he come in and make good his promise. The other point is that i just found it amusing after what he has said, when he came in, we were top of the league when he left, we were most definitely not. Our standing in europe has dropped as well and i suggest we are not as big a club now as when he joined, others have over took us. He was the overseer of it all. I don't hold him personally accountable by the way. I just find it funny.

On a more serious note, it is the CEOs responsibility to run the club and make sure all its targets are achieved. He is the top man. He is the one accountable for everything arsenal.

{Ed002's Note - I think that is generally what the business management text books would say, but it is terribly naive to look to blame him for a full back slipping and an equaliser going in late in the game.}

Who takes over a new job saying " ok we are number 1 now but it's a totally false position we can't possibly maintain because the players are far to cosy and the manager currently untouchable "
What was he supposed to do Steve mate?
He did his job by putting positive spin on anything and everything he possibly could ( even if he never believed it himself)
PR and total honesty are seldom good friends simply because on most things they are completely incompatible.

I agree with Steve. He hasn't done anything memorable for Arsenal. David Dein did a better job 10 times over. Good riddance to the guy.
