It is of concern that Arsenal fans are showing a lack of patience with the team under new manager Emery. There is criticism of players, team selection and tactics. Yet, Emery has only been at the helm for a few weeks and against Cardiff only 2 of the new players started the match.
The fans need to show patience, whilst the players get fitter under Emery and learn his new methods.
Realistically, it would have been highly unlikely that the team would have faired any better points-wise under Wenger. It is going much as expected, with the defeats against 2 top teams followed by wins against 2 lower teams. Emery will be assessing the players during the first half of the season and I would expect one or two signings in January, with a couple of players moved out.
On the positives, it is refreshing to have a manager on the touch line barking out instructions, with coaches that he discusses things with. His substitutions are interesting and game changing, From a personal opinion, so far so good, let's get behind the new manager and the teammate particularly diuring the transition period, which may take a couple of seasons, whilst the squad is improved. Already I like the fact players have been moved out and the list of failing players reduced considerably. We also have Kolasinac, Koscielny and Maitland-Niles to return from injury.

I've seen very little criticism of the team or manager despite the defence not looking any less fragile than under Arsene or the midfield any more effective, the vast majority know and accept time is needed.
I've read and wrote a lot of criticism of Dicks insistence on playing a player who after 2 seasons under Arsene and now 4 starts under Dick we are still waiting to see a good 90 minutes from, why would anyone be happy to see a player representing the club who is never an asset to the team and who has to be carried and made up for by the rest because he does so little while there are players sat on the bench who give so much more to the team?
It isn't anti Xhaka or anti Emery it's pro Arsenal and wanting to see us stand our best chance of being all we can be.

I have to totally disagree with G62, who contradicts himself as he goes on to criticise Xhaka - Other players also criticised by the fans are Cech for his short distribution, Bellerin for his defensive positioning, Sokratis for his lack of pace. In fact, as you say the entire defence and defending in general has come under attack. Also Ozil has been criticised. There has been criticism of the manager for not playing Leno and Torreira in the starting line up.
It is worrying that the behaviour of the fans towards Wenger may continue with Emery if results don't go our way.

I think the criticism and praise has been quite fair and justified. Most accept patience is needed, wengers head would have, been called for after the first two games. I think the support the team has received during games from the fans has been as expected. It just logical while the team is producing the comical build up from the back and comical defending, players will come under fire. I think the praise has been pretty much right and the lambasting has too.

Hopefully I have been balanced in my opinion. This site is about banter, letting off steam and having your opinions challenged. That’s why I visit the site as no one is always completely right or has nothing to learn. Debate is great and I love reading people’s thoughts etc.

Here’s a thought from a City fan on twitter:

Put it into perspective:
Arsenal have had the most difficult starting fixtures of any team. They have a new manager trying new ideas. Have scored 8 goals. Won 2 out of 4 and was unlucky against Chelsea. How are they in turmoil? People are thick.

I struggle with some decisions, struggle with lack of change but know it takes time. I am behind Emery but reserve the right for opinion and to encourage a counter arguement. 👍.

Without opinions what are we all doing here SY mate?
We don't have to agree on everything to get on, like the fact I'm struggling to get you to ditch the Tories and vote Labour:-)
It's debating and swapping opinions and ideas that makes this site interesting surely!
Opinion is fine as long as we all accept and respect everyone else's is as entitled to one as us.
Very few have moaned about Emery but most have questioned some of his decisions which is par for the course, I read on the Liverpool page at the end of last season where one fan admitted he'd questioned Klopp over signing Salah, obviously he was luahing at his own poor judgement on that but good on him for having the bottle to write it.

Labour is in a bigger mess than our defence

If everyone agreed - this site would be empty. I love that the Eds don’t control opinions / topics or control content although some of my golden posts get shoved to other pages or not uploaded. Had a great Granit reply not posted the other day. May be Ed was protecting me 👊
love the interaction of all fans from our great club, other smaller clubs and Spurs fans. Like the interaction with the Eds also.
All in all - I have adjusted my opinions and challenged my thought process as well as enjoyed all the banter. Far better than reading a one sided article and not debating with an audience.
All this is down to the posters and Eds. Very happy I found the site and they let people like me post and air frustrations as well as excitement. Nice job Eds.

Totally agree with all that including labour making our defence look solid and on the same page SY mate.
The ability to discuss, disagree without falling out is surely what it's all about, along with the ability to be open to the posiblity of changing you're opinion and view after listening to others alternative posts.
Absolutely nothing wrong with being wrong about something, the problem comes when we point blank refuse to consider the possibly we might be wrong about something.

Someone seems to only dislike your comments g62, they've ignored everyone else! 😂.

05 Sep 2018 15:13:37
And someone else and only someone else always gets agrees Eden. All a little odd. 😂😂.

05 Sep 2018 18:03:40

LOL @ Thumbgate! We've been down this path before.

Oh and can someone please provide a cliffnotes version of the original post?

06 Sep 2018 10:34:43
I'm not sure Steve but I do know the two Ronnie's had the Phantom Raspberry blower of old London town and Tiswas had the Phantom Flanflinger and now we have the Phantom Thumber :-)
It's all good fun and adds to the diversity of our posters I think, it would be a strange old world if we were all the same.

06 Sep 2018 18:07:17
Its funny gunner, last season ellis posted on the spuds site and not one person replied to it but he got 15 thumbs up a few weeeks later he posted, he got one reply disagreeing with him. He got 10 thumbs up and the other guy got 10 thumbs down. Nothing smelly in that. Lol.
