Turning it around a bit, xhaka has been with us two plus seasons. In that time, how many people have read or heard anyone, in the papers, tv or radio, say, xhaka is a great player for arsenal and he was a brilliant buy.

To be honest Steve, I’d never really heard of him prior to Wengers reported interest and recall making a bad joke about his name, Granit and him being a rock in our midfield.

Aside from one thumping shot from outside the box that went in I don’t recall him doing much if anything else.

He looks slow and cumbersome and speed of thought is not one of his attributes either and whilst the likes of Iwobi, Ozil, Ramsey and to a lesser degree Myki can tackle, his is woeful, always just sticking his left foot out no matter what side he comes from or just pulls a player back.

So often caught on the ball and I’m struggling to see this great range of passing. I’d rather Maitland-Niles when he’s fit and 100% rather Torreira.

I don’t want to hate on him but jeez he’s bad. I think he’d even struggle to get into Uniteds midfield. Colchester United that is.

I am the same as any fan at the moment in that we can't see what Xhaka is giving to the team other than mistakes.

The only thing I can think of is that Emery doesn't want a midfield of two young players with no premier league experience this early on in the season. Xhaka has a full year in the prem and is quite a tough and aggressive player (even if more often than not his aggression is misplaced) .

The players still need a bit of time to settle in. Once Torreira has some more minutes under his belt, hopefully he'll get the nod ahead of Xhaka. Same with Leno.

Well fingers crossed anyway.

To be perfectly honest stoner the best I’ve heard is “xhaka wasn’t that bad today “ . And apart from the long ball out wide left his actual range of passing is dreadful. He is so one footed it’s painful. Very slow to move the ball and only passes with his left foot. So predictable and easy to read. In my opinion the two who are playing more central have to be able with both feet. Both Guendouzi and Torreira are far better than xhaka.

I cringe every time someone brings up his fabled great range of passing, I'm sure it's resulted in us conceding more chances than presenting them as was evident yesterday. That wenger and emery have stuck by him is just baffling, he was a large part of the reason wenger failed last year and he's been a complete let down to emerys faith. Maybe you've struck it Henry and he thinks the prem experience is needed. But when he's letting you down every week keeping on picking him is madness, ultimately he's the one who's going to be judged by it, after xhaka being slated for being rubbish it's emery next for keeping on picking him. guen and torrira have both been head and shoulders above him and their age and lack of pl experience shouldn't count against them, it should count against xhaka, that having so much more experience he's still an absolute liability!

I really wish we still had a fit Cazorla to play alongside Torreira and Guendouzi if I’m honest Sanogo.

Like you say Henry, maybe he’s doing it for a reason and that’s kind of as good as any I can come up with it’s just somewhat bizarre.

In my initial reply I said Iwobi, Ramsey and Ozil can tackle, I meant can’t! 😁.

Agree eden. Having prem experience of dross performances, shouldn't get you picked over youthfull promise.

Quite Steve, if your PL experience is showing you can't hack it then the chances of you turning it round are minimal and surely no experience and a clean slate is better! Kate had no experience, smashed it his first season and hasn't looked back, if you've got it it expirience shouldn't matter and if you haven't got it expirience shouldn't be atribute.

I hope in the next few games, maybe an easier game at home and try first replacing cech with Leno and the Torreira with xhaka. I’m sure both Guendouzi and Torreira can play further forward to better effect than xhaka. Both two footed both better with the ball at their feet both sharper and quicker on the ball and Torreira especially has decent close control and can quickly chance feet and keep position . I personally think emery knows this but it’s a case of softly softly! I also think that it will give more opitunity for the defenders to settle and gain confidence and follow instruction better if cech is replaced . He’s making the team far to nervous win my opinion.
